  • Nearly twenty years after the Roman conquest of Britain a revolt broke out among the Iceni, a tribe inhabiting modern Norfolk. The revolt was led by Boudica, the warrior queen whose story has become the stuff of legend. In this lecture, we try to sort fact from fiction, investigating the seeds of rebellion in Rome’s abusive administration and then examining how the legend of Boudica has continued to grow and change over the centuries.

Mustaches have and will always be disgusting. Thousands of years of validation of this fact confirmed here.

I have never been able to keep a moustache for more than a few months. Eventually I will get a cold, allergies or a bad case of the sniffles. When I see myself in the mirror it horrifies me and I shave it off.

About the mythical beasts upload - it's unwatchable due to audio issues.
A tremendous pity that such an interesting, well-done presentation can't be enjoyed.

“Conquer or Die”: Boudica’s Revolt of 60-61 AD 1458pm 12.5.23 i think they created a documentary retracing the remnants of wattling street - the longest street in the UK if not europe. it's probably still featured on BBC i-player or you tube - somewhere....

I don't think we can expected a native revolt to have permanently driven out the invaders. But many revolts throughout the empire scattered over many years...This would shorten the lifespan of the colonial enterprise by using up time, energy and resources, as well as having a demoralizing effect on conscripted non-native militia. I feel we can draw the same conclusions about the more recent empire originating from the same isles and lasting about as long...

How can you tell this man has never worn a moustache? Yes. He basically declares he has no idea what a moustache is or where it is worn on the face.

“Conquer or Die”: Boudica’s Revolt of 60-61 AD 1415pm 12.5.23 wasn't she of british-roman birth, anyway...? which would add some irritant or discomfiture to her overall standing within british-romano relations. that said; it's nice to hear of british dissenters - of whatever hue.
