Funny that, there is a lore behind Jones and Calypso: See, Davy Jones spent ten years for a day with her, but she never showed, stating "it's my nature". Now, Calypso is the sea goddess and the sea can never come to land, hence why she didn't show up. Jones, filled with rage, didn't want to feel anything anymore, so he carved out his heart and buried it on Isla Cruces so no one would ever find it. At this time, the Brethren Court were planning to "dispose" of Calypso so they could rule the seas. Davy Jones, feeling betrayed by Calypso, showed them how to bind Calypso into her human form as revenge for what she did. Now, Calypso's symbol is the crab, hence Jones' leg and crab claw. But also, octopuses eat crabs, which is why he has the head and the finger. He hates her, but he loves her. Calypso, quite literally, turned Davy Jones into the monster he is.

***** Yes, Davy Jones was indeed a great villain, he made us laugh and cry, he was creepy as well as funny, a great character with a great backstory.
As much as i love to see him on the big screen again, i should pass on this one, i'm in general against the return of death characters in the movies, cause imo it makes the death scenes look meaningless. They gave Davy Jones a proper ending, so they better let him rest in peace.

Funny that, there is a lore behind Jones and Calypso:
See, Davy Jones spent ten years for a day with her, but she never showed, stating "it's my nature". Now, Calypso is the sea goddess and the sea can never come to land, hence why she didn't show up. Jones, filled with rage, didn't want to feel anything anymore, so he carved out his heart and buried it on Isla Cruces so no one would ever find it. At this time, the Brethren Court were planning to "dispose" of Calypso so they could rule the seas. Davy Jones, feeling betrayed by Calypso, showed them how to bind Calypso into her human form as revenge for what she did. Now, Calypso's symbol is the crab, hence Jones' leg and crab claw. But also, octopuses eat crabs, which is why he has the head and the finger. He hates her, but he loves her. Calypso, quite literally, turned Davy Jones into the monster he is.
