  • Welcome to the Nuss Collection Truck Museum!
Hi, I’m Bob Nuss. Today, I’m excited to showcase a truly unique piece of our collection: a 1939 Mack BX truck paired with a 1938 Mack trailer.
Let’s start with the trailer. Mack built a total of 2,601 of these trailers over a few years, and this one boasts an impressive weight rating of 26,000 pounds, equating to about 12 to 16 tons. It’s a classic flatbed trailer that exemplifies Mack’s robust engineering from that era.
The truck itself was restored by our dedicated team in Roseville, Minnesota, several years ago. We’ve named this truck after our second grandson, Reese. As a nod to our Scottish heritage-our daughter-in-law hails from Scotland-we’ve added a special touch with “Great Scott” emblazoned on the top of the truck.
This Mack BX is painted in a distinctive white and gray. It’s a rare sight because white was not a standard color for Mack trucks until the 1970s. Previously, Mack offered only red, green, black, yellow, orange, and blue. It wasn’t until July 1, 1974, when McNeil requested 25 new Mack trucks painted white, that Mack began offering white as a standard color, albeit with an extra charge of $25 per truck.
We hope you enjoy this historical gem and its fascinating backstory as much as we do!
