Ok I’m 51 years old, I grow seeing super strats and slash with his Gibsons, but even been a old fart boomer I find the strandberg (and this kind of guitars) the next step in evolution. I know guitarists are very conservative, a lot still believe in the magic properties of the tonal wood, the amp tubes made in USA, pedals with germanium diodes and all kind of shit. Strandberg dare to change a tradition from 70 years old. And that’s remarkable
I'm glad you can still be inspired by new instruments. Thanks for watching and subscribe and join the madness 🙌
Yes , guitarist tend to be Luddites (yes , I recently learned meaning of that word and IMMEDIATELY thought of guitar players lol) and have stopped the market in instances from innovation. To be fair , Steinburger started with the headless models and many are awesome . But , once again , Luddite guitar players 🙄… another example , The Parker Fly guitars … I could cite many more examples of guitarist being backward thinking (in extremes , magical thinking ) simpletons . I say this as a guitarist myself lol . …. Bass players are the smart ones . Yeah , I said it lol !
"Hey! I'm old. I don't matter"

It is Strandberg. Not Stranberg. Ola Strandberg is the maker. Swedish: strand = beach. Berg = mountain. Based in Uppsala, Sweden. Close to my home. Best guitars so far.
🙌
It's definitely a niche guitar, which is shown by the majority of the Strandberg users playing Fusion or Modern Metal, so they're definitely not for everyone lmao

LOL, "Island of Doctor Moreau"
Seems fitting given the overall strangeness of the Strangberg guitars.
I've never checked one of those out, its too light and there is too much fret access in the upper registers, and to be honest, the possibility of a headstock break looks like slim to none!
It's an amazing design, but just not one I'll ever use personally. No thanks. I like my guitars with headstock and straight frets, but I'm def the old guy talking about how the talkies killed vaudeville

@HK Guitar old school brother. Much respect. I was born in the 80s but child of the 90s w an 80s heart and always friends and in bands with dudes who were older than me.
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist I totally get that.
In all of the bands I was in during the '70a and '80s we made it a point to help out younger players. Not to mention we would take them on as Rodies, giving them guitar lessons for their time/effort.
I really miss those times.
Of note, June of 1978, I purchased my first Big Muff! My rig was a Twin Reverb on top of a 4x12 Cab and my '77 Les Paul Deluxe. My parent's home was never the same after that moment.

Hell yeah man, not my cup of tea but I have a lot of respect for it. That riff is just a string skipping arpeggio exercise I play. Does it cost more now that you have played it on this video? You never kno, that may make it a collector's item :) Can't tell if I love it or hate it. Probably plays great but if not I need something to hang over my fireplace! BEST GUITAR CHANNEL ON RUclips -- HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Haha this actual guitar sold the day I brought it back but I very much doubt my playing has any effect on the value of a new guitar. Maybe if I cherry pick an old one my tastes will add value because people trust me, but I wouldn't pay a cent more for a guitar I played. As far as whether I like it: I think it's an awesome design and I can understand the fuss but:
1. I hate fanned frets...They're predominantly made for guitars that are 7 strings or more and I'm still conquering the 6
2. It looks absolutely repulsive to me
3. It has NO MOJO and I find it uninspiring
I'm curious if I played one w the suhr pickups if I'd like it more, but I think I'm more of a traditional guitar guy. Def not my bag, but cool for what it is. Happy new year Mark! Thanks for being a part of all this. My best to you and your family 🙏🙏🙏❤️
I can see EVH playing this one and suddenly getting older doods approval
He played a steinberger in the 80s for songs like Hot Summer Nights and some others so your fantasy was actually a reality!
I definitely want to take a rip on one of those Strandbergs, basswood… Eddie’s favourite 😄 Ola Strandberg did an in depth interview on Ola Englund’s channel about these very guitars, it was really cool and he talks about everything as far as the company history and how it all can about etc. it really does sound quite good … but I’m just gonna go ahead and say you would know better than me as your guitar collection is Awesome!
It's all personal preference! I think they make extremely high quality guitars and they play excellent. I'm not into more radical designs and have no need or desire for multi scale instruments, but there are plenty of people that swear by them. If the looks of them attract you I'm sure you won't be let down, I just done crave the look or design but have absolutely nothing bad to say about the instrument.
I tryied a headless guitar, I tried the Ibanez q series earlier this year and sent it right back. I just couldn't deal with lack of everything, lol. Did I hear you mention Boston by the way? I'm in New Hampshire :)

They're amazing. I'm actually doing another video on a higher end one in the next week or two. They're incredible instruments and despite not being my style, they are extremely innovative
Cool guitar, but I wouldn't be down with the fanned frets. I just tried a ibanez headless that felt great, like a strat but light and weird.
Anyways, headless guitars are nothing new. They've been around as long as the Les Paul.
Thanks for another one!
Nope, in fact, the Gibson Futura that people call the pac man guitar started off headless. They have def been around. It's certainly a cool design and makes a lot of sense, but to a seasoned Guitarist like me it does nothing
@TheNeuroticGuitarist That was a joke about the headless Les paul, but that's cool about the Futura. I hadn't seen that one before.

I'm sure it plays amazing and it looks pretty cool. I wish they'd make a hardtail with a bit of traditional influence. It's hard for me to get passed the no headstock. Gibson's and Gretsch as well others have beautiful headstock design and it adds so much to the character of the guitar.
I'm with you Jeff.
If I look at a guitar, and I can't see EVH, B.B., Albert King, or Malcolm Young playing it...I'm out lol. No squiggly intonation frets, fanned frets, or other oddities please. Lol I DO get it though. But my idea of a pedal board is a wah and a TS9.
I've been over pedalboards and pedals in general for years. I tried everything, paid tons for a Furman, individual circuit, etc and it always sounds noisy. I don't even like tuners. My practice amp has a tuner, Morley bad horsie2 wah and a whammy. I usually bypass the whammy because everything colors the sound. I have an rv3 delay pedal I kick in by initiating the fx loop. It's only in the chain when on.
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist nice I like the more simple chain. It let's the player shine through
Benny, I thought it was Strandberg, not Stranberg? Unless it's a different guitar maker but I believe they make the Boden which I looked at buying a couple of years ago.

I had a Floyd Rose brand strat years ago. No headstock tuners, just fine tuners on the trem with dual ball end strings. You had to buy special strings from them for it. They claimed it would keep perfect tune. It never stayed in tune at all. Every string would go out of tune all at once. Junk!

Every time I’ve played a headless / minimal guitar it’s felt like a plastic toy in my hands. Definitely not my thing but it seems well built! Headless guitars just don't do it for me and it has an awkward (to the eye at least) shape. Even if they where proven to be the best, I'm just not about it. I'd play around with it, give it some love, but I ain't putting a ring on it!😆
Preach bro. Call me an old geezer, but it makes me feel like yelling PULL UP YOUR PANTS! It plays great for what it is but I felt negative MOJO coming off of it. Give me a les paul or give me death. Or don't. I like PRS, too. Def not crapping on the strandberg, though, it's a thing and it will definitely continue to be a thing, but not a thing I give a flying f about.
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist hahaha I'm 35 so not too far behind ya I like to call myself open minded but some times we can be stubborn and this time qualifies. Its ok 😆😆😆 FWIW my electric is a PRS custom 24 s2. Eriza verde (burst look) quilt top. Its the only one I've seen like it. Not exactly a normal factory color as its much darker and normal eriza verdes I've seen are that uniform light green and pretty sure that color was only on se's of that year not s2s on the cu24 lineup but i MAY be wrong on that part. The headstock and back look black but its actually a dark green. Its a Willwood limited edition 35th anniversary from last year, well 2 years now i suppose. Ebony fretboard with switches rather than push pull, ooof i love that fucking thing!! I was gonna get a lp prior, it's what spoke to me the most out of like 40 guitars I played but I loved the cu24 just enough more. They just felt so damn good!! 👌 I'm realllllly trying to be good and not buy an LP now to add but i can't deny i reallllllly want one. ⚡⚡😈🎸⚡⚡
@CLIFFORD_2ZERO7 those prs are undeniable. Ebony fretboard on a cu24 is also rad, none of mine have ebony so I'm jealous. Also, as an FYI, you can find absolutely incredible les Paul's for 1500-2000. Tons and tons out there. Buy used. You can find standards, classics, traditional, all kinds of stuff in that range. Because there's so many on the market there is a huge variance in price so it's just a matter of looking when you're ready to pounce. There's no need to spend 3k unless you want a custom
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist youre absolutely right, dont need to spend 3k all i want is a standard, really. Those faded cherry 60s lp standard have my attention. 24/2500 new. I get iffy about buying them used online because of all the bs you hear about Gibson but if im patient the right one will come along for a good price. My prs came from reverb and i trusted it more because i feel prs has better qc than gibson and did in fact get a very nice guitar. I have had it stuck in my head to get an lp from either gc or sweetwater because of ease of return just incase. Perhaps im too paranoid and I let the internet spook me 😆
Certainly if this were the only Strandeberg review I saw so far i would never buy it, sorry about any mistake on the grammar, cheers from Messi land
