      Check the throttle body for carbon biuld up. If it has carbon clean it out. You will notice a slightly better acceleration if its never been done and if its dirty. I have a 2016 Corolla and I took the airbox hose off and had access to the throttle body and it was pretty dirty. I decided to clean it out and I felt that the car drove faster and has become more efficient after that.

    For anyone with a 2003 Corolla,or the 1ZZFE engine of similar years there is a TSB for an updated engine oil quantity.Originally the oil level was 3.3 qts. but the TSB updates the oil level to 4.4 qts.There is an updated dipstick available.I don't have the updated dipstick but,just like this guy,I put 4.5 qts. in when I change my oil.

    Peter, thank you for your wonderful videos. I had a question about the timing chain tensioner on the 2AZ-FE engine which is in my 2006 Toyota RAV4. My question is can the tensioner be adjusted? I realize that the tensioner is hydraulically controlled but I have heard that there is a procedure to adjust the timing chain tensioner by loosening the two nuts and letting the tensioner to be adjusted. Thank you!

    Bought this car a bit over a year ago and I'm only now hitting 29,000 km. (18,000 miles) Previous owner only drove it 14,000 km in 3 years. (8700 miles). Better than expected upgrade from 2014 Corolla. I let Toyota do the first free oil swap but I prefer to do it myself after that. Thanks for the in depth run through.
    One thing I've always wondered though. I had an 06' Tundra she the oil filter was on top of the engine. It was great. Unnecessary though, as I could not easily slide under the body without jacking it up. Why not have the filter on top for lower cars, and remove the need for jack stands all together?

    You should open the oil fill cap while draining gravity helps all the old oil come out better. Also you should use oil around the oil filter before installing it back on.

    I have a Tacoma with the 2TR-FE 4 cylinder, and the filter is way up on the passenger side of the block. You have to be Houdini with long arms to get to it. I like the arrangement on this Corolla much better.

      @@Starman-yt8lj They went back to the metal canister spin on oil filter about halfway through 2015 on the corollas. Luckily the spin on oil filter housing can fit 2009-2015 1.8 engines on the corolla 2ZR-FE motors. I did the conversion on my 2010 corolla to the spin on filter. Very easy to do with toyota OEM parts from a 2016. Much better than the cartridge paper type.

    The oil fill cap and dipstick should be removed before the oil drain plug is released for a better drain of the old oil.

  • @jkk244
    @jkk244 3 года назад

    I always fill the filter with new oil before installing it. When the filter sits sideways like this one, I fill it up about halfway with oil and the filter media absorbs it so nothing leaks out when I turn it sideways to install it. That way, there is already some oil in the filter when you start the engine after the oil change. Otherwise, there is a slight delay for oil to circulate through the engine while the filter fills up and the media material absorbs the new oil.
