I’m sorry, but if your grown son attempts to injure or kill someone-he needs to go to jail. Just how did he get the gun? If he had a mental illness, how was he cleared to possess a gun? That should’ve had a red flag. This is all excuses, just admit the accountability.

My mother hated me because I reminded her of my father. I was ten years old hanging out smoking weed and doing my thing. I never shot at anyone. I never hurt anyone intentionally. Also, sometimes in a mental health crisis a person may isolate themselves or lose track of time. I'm a single mother and have made sure my 15yo son had men available. They can range from grandfathers, brothers, uncles, coaches, teachers, neighbors, whomever a mother deems would be an asset to her son.

Every person that commits an evil act is not mentally Ill. Some people do evil acts because that’s what they choose to do. There are people who are unhappy and want to see others unhappy or dead.
There are people who are mentally ill but don’t choose to act violently. I don’t know the man or his family so I can’t say if he is mentally ill or not but mental illness is not the answer for every violent crime that someone commits.
Mental illness may not be the answer why some commit violent acts but it is a factor. Extreme fear, anxiety, depression, delusion etc are manifestations of mental illness. Some people just express those disorders differently dependingon a varietyof circumstances. Committing a crime doesn't excuse the perpetrators but the breakdown is telling us that many (especially young impressionable people with undeveloped brains) are going into strong delusion and committing violent crimes.

I don't know, I think you'd have to be mentally ill to want to do evil, at least in the moment. That doesn't mean I think they should get away with it, but maybe prisons shouldn't be places where even sane, innocent people would go a little crazy. The police have to consult with the DA and they charge according to what they can prove beyond reasonable doubt, based on the evidence. Aggravated Assault carries as long a sentence, if not more, in many cases.

I’ve gone through this with my 38 year old brother who is mentally unstable. The courts don’t help and jail doesn’t do anything and they can’t keep them for nothing and because he’s an adult his mom can’t put him somewhere and they keep him because he’ll sign his papers to release him and they don’t have to tell family’s when they leave.
Sometimes that bad sh!t run in the family

To be honest, there's a lot of families in similar situations with children who have mental problems. You can make them go to therapy, received medication, etc when they are minors but once they become adults there's nothing you can do. A lot of mentally ill people are aware they are mentally ill but forego treatment. She also spoke about trying to discipline her child when he was a minor and it sounds like somehow police or CPS were called.
God help her and her family. I commend her as a mother. I see strength and hurt in her at the same time.

I can't say what went wrong here. She said she's been with his father since she was 13 but then she talks about being a single mother. Some men will give money and financial support but will not be home every night. And money is not enough. Money won't raise them. It sounds like she bought her son material things and then he started acting out and no one was really there to help her with that and to help with discipline. But her son is an adult now. He was live streaming a sort of manifesto on Facebook and mentally healthy people do not do that. Also mentally well people do not think bringing a gun to a news station will help them get air time. I mean it did work but not in the way he wanted it to. On any other day he could have ended up 6 feet under.

My mother hated me because I reminded her of my father. I was ten years old hanging out smoking weed and doing my thing. I never shot at anyone. I never hurt anyone intentionally.
