- Robert & Dean DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots stopped by the Covino & Rich Show. We talked in-depth about Scott Weiland, their memorable songs, and the future of the band. And Covino was as giddy as a school girl.

I got to meet Rob and Dean during Army of Anyone tours, and thought they were the most laid back, genuine gentlemen I have ever known in music.
I love STP. I think their musical development is compared to The Beatles. Imo best band of the 90s.
No honestly not Nirvana
Holy shit you guys I can't believe I just found this!!! Stone Temple Pilots were I'm 58 years or older right now and Stone Temple Pilots were the greatest years of my life, as I start tearing up😢lol THANK YOU GUYS for having Dean & Robert on... I recently re-fell in love with Scott and all the Stone Temple Pilots songs in history... I'm a drummer and I've been playing the hell out of the stone temple in velvet revolver put my recent obsession is with Scott I was in jail when he died as In tear up again... but I'm lonely tonight, my Mom is on her way out & I just wanted to tell you THANK YOU 🙏🏻
stay strong, pass on these songs. hope you’re doing alright!
Yeah I remember where I was standing when I heard that Scott died. Sorry about ur mom.
Dean is the reason I picked up the guitar in the first place, I just love these guys. 25 minutes into the video and I realised what a stupid smile I had in my face.
Alice and Stp were something bigger than grunge. They were the 2 best bands where you don't skip 1 song. Scott and Layne still make me cry
I named my first born son after him
Not only are these guys obviously fantastic musicians they also seem like really nice people
Wife and I are in our 50's now, been listening to STP since we began dating in the early 90's. Driving to the shore listening to ILS. We still listen and I play their stuff on guitar all the time. We love you guys. Excellent, super interview.
DeLeo Bros need to get something going, Talk Show, STP, Army, I don't care anything ill buy, they are the bomb!
Dean might be my favorite lead guitar player, period. The melodic, song-within-a-song, nature of his solos adds so much to their music, it's an integral part of their sound. I can't imagine these songs with anyone else on guitar.
Right on
What a great interview C&R. Rob and Dean are pure genious, and wrote the anthems of my life. A HUGE thank you for all the epic interviews, memories and hard work you put in to the show everyday over 20 years! Mad love and respect CnRnS... here's to another 20 years!
It breaks my heart so much about Scott! And I hate he didn’t have any contact with his STP brothers before he passed!
This is an incredible interview. I wish more interviewers would be like these guys, you see clearly that Robert & Dean love this kind of atmosphere.
Great Group, Sour Girl is My favorite. They nailed it, vocally, lyrically, musically etc.
I discovered Stone Temple Pilots too late, in the summer of 1999. I inmediately liked them. So, DeLeo brothers and STP fans: Greetings from Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas.
This is great❤
I love these guys. To be such legends and also to be so down to earth is incredible really.
What an amazing interview. I love how they cue up all that music during the interview. It adds so much vibrance and excitement.
Mood for a day , amazing song wow the more i hear the more it feels like these guys could have been my friends. great interview.
Aside from most bands and lead singers from the 90s, STP is a great moral example of how to rock n roll and actually live long while doing it!!!
best STP interview ever..great job guys...
why do these interviewers these days cut their guests off when they are revealing gold
Exactly what I was thinking. Bunch of ADHD pricks
great interview - will see STP this Monday for the 1st time
You cats asked the perfect questions! Kept the pace and vibe on point! Killer work!
Great to hear all of these stories. Robert and Dean are such real, positive people. I'm a huge fan. "Wonderful" - great tune!
There are 2 great interviews; this being one of them: This one is great for us STP fans because you can hear the 2 DeLeo brother's grief & despair over Scott’s passing & yet they are still angry with him (at this point) because they loved him for yes for his talents, but more so as a friend & a human being! They knew Scott back in the day before Scott’s disease grabbed a hold of him & wouldn’t let him go. I think it pisses them off (as it would for me if one of my sisters had the disease of addiction for 15-20 yrs) Scott’s passing was still so painful in what… 2017 interview? They’re still pissed at Scott for what he did to himself and to all the people that truly loved him for just being Scott Weiland & not a fucking Rock Star! Like Scott’s parents & 4 brothers. (Scott’s biological brother Michael Weiland) his other 3 brothers; Rob, Dean and Eric Kretz [who’s an amazing drummer by the way]! The 2nd one is the most recent interview/music conversation Rob DeLeo had with Rick Beato & it’s strictly all about musicianship talk of basslines, harmonies, pitch, tones, melodies chords, chord progressions etc that Rick does so extremely well with these interviews of AMAZINGLY talented Artists! I think it’s fair to say this interview is geared towards the fans that want to know all the behind-scenes (I’m sure the majority of STP fans remember “VH1 Behind The Scenes” videos) type of stuff. Whereas Rick’s interview is for fans of course (the fans are everything to any professional athlete or entertainer) but Rick’s interview is geared towards Robert DeLeo’s peers' and his awesome professional musicianship! Both are completely different, yet both are as equally important. In my humble opinion. P.s. For all of you Knuckleheads that don’t believe that addiction is a disease? Michael Weiland died of a drug overdose so it’s 💯% a biological disease & if you think otherwise? I’m sorry to say this, but you're just a fucking moron!
Except rick is hit song only obsessed and doesn't even touch tiny music. Which is the most musical progressive album they made
fantastic interview man! so good to see interviewers who're actually interested in the music rather than getting some kinda controversial press out 🤘
the talk show guy,i forgot his name,he was a great singer 20 yrs ago!
get him!
11:27 that "Purple" reference!
Great interview guys, stp are one of my favorites.
Thanks for sharing this interview, Covino & Rich.
Good stuff with two super talented dudes, indeed.
As for finding a singer, I hope they take their time.
With that said, I've never blatantly promoted my vocals/music in a comment on anyone's RUclips video, but I always see so many people (not too much on this comment section, but on plenty of others) doing it. Well, there's a first time for everything, I guess.
Enjoy my channel!
This is great! Thank you so much.
Great interview. Third time I listened to it.
These guys are fantastic
This was fucking amazing!!! Well done guys!!
I hope they find a lead singer, soon. I don't want to keep being used to there not being new STP music.
this was a really good interview....
love these guys and only wish them well...awesome interview smiling from ear to ear./
90s rock is great but 70s was the best
Church on Tuesdays ❤ love u mom😊
When Wonderfull was on, the sound srewed up. Man what a shame, radio station
"This song is my shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit" LOL
Class acts
Those guys botched that interview all up. Interrupting Dean and Robert numerous times. Dean seemed irritated a few times when they asked a question and didn't let him finish speaking.
I agree... I felt like buddy next to dean was on coke or something acting idiotic during a heavy heartfelt discussion.
Exactly
That was fun. :)
NO SEX OR VIOLENCE! NO MORNING SILENCE! FOREVER SLEEPING! YOU WON`T STOP BREATHING!
Bravo 👏 fellas.
15:32 my favorite part of this interview.. very funny
LOVE THESE GUYS
32:11 Dean finally has enough of these two fanboys...
todays scene can't compare to the early 90s.
please check out STP2 a tribute to stone temple pilots... we do our best to keep the spirit of Scott and the legacy of STP alive..
I bought the same albums
Don't know if anyone's ever noticed this before that both the DeLeo brothers have many similar uncanny facial features to Jim Morrison. In the very early years of STP Dean to me was a dead ringer for the young Jim. Morrison of course never had the opportunity to age beyond 27. Like the Doors all four members of each band were are immensely talented. RIP Jim, Ray and Scott.
tell me were are you guys and ill get there
Seriously great interview guys! MUCH PROPS to all!!
Dean kinda reminds me of Adam Jones...
Who will ever measure up to Scott?
10:34 what were they listening to?
35:32 then they got a look alike to act just like him
...so cool Robert saw the Carpenters ....those guys are so non judgemental , musically ....
Great Interview. All real STP fans love The Leo Brothers but I think these guys should stop to search a replacement for Weiland . I think they should work with a big artist like Chris Cornell or Billy Corgan etc ...and do a great new album for all their real fans (90´s music fans too) but as a new band not like STP anymore (obviosly they could playing their STP songs ever) .These guys has the music talent to spare to do this. Frontmans as Freddie Mercury, Michael Hutchence or Jim Morrison to name some examples are a proof of what I´m saying when a frontman become kind of irreplaceable piece of a band and Weiland could certainly be considered as one of these cases too .
I totally agree. I believe Dean DeLeo and Robert DeLeo are the soul of STP, without impairment of the magnificent talent of Weiland and Kretz.
deleos and cornel..now thats a Fine Project :)
no way!
well was. Good luck to the delo's i think they should go on.

I hope these guys find some new blood. They are up against some huge odds. The bar is set so high that I don't think they will. These fellas would be better to move into instrumental type.
It's like trying to replace David Bowie or iggy pop in the stooges. I feel for these guys. They clearly play from the heart and live it. I don't think the replacement will ever have the mojo. Good luck fellas I wish you the best!
2 prodigies!
It wasn't STP with Chester because it can not be STP without Scott. I liked Talk Show and Army of Anyone, even though they weren't called STP and didn't have Scott. Using the name is selfish on their part.
80s rock was far superior than 90s rock. The guitarists were Gods.
Suboxone and benzos took a toll on Scott and was the end of him
RRRRROBERTO haha
Big Bang Baby was a let down when it came out.
8:05 the carpenters
jesus morning radio sucks.. stp rocks though
These two presenters stink! Straight from the Howard Stern school but without the talent.
And whoever kept singing can fucking stop.
STP and AIC are the 2 best bands of the 90s. The next best is light yrs behind. Pj shouldve taken lessons from those 2 bands. Cuz once they got rid of Abbruzzese they were horrible. Their new singer Jeff Gutt is great
9/11 changed everything. No one wants to admit it. But the love that came from the 90s died with those planes and those buildings. Then came the popularity of nu metal. And when that died emo rock which is an atrocity took over in the 2010s. Then metal died on a mainstream level. And groups like maroon 5 and imagine dragons took over and rock sucked on a mainstream level
Roberto😅
This interview is so cringy - feel bad for DeLeo Bros
I'm 3 minutes in and the interviewers are loud as fuck. One of the DeLeos will be talking and then the interviewers jumps in all like "AAAAHHHH!!!! AAAHHH!!!"
Yeah they're too young, it kinda kills the vibe.
Your comment is cringy.
interviewing is good questions and then listening to your guest answer in ful
not much of a background
I love STP ... but they couldn't hold Pearl Jam's or Soungarden's guitar picks.
How is being dead
they are really maked by the all addiction thing in their lifes , u can see it clearly
For Christ sake, let Dean and Robert talk. It's about them, not you.
