These two never get enough props. They were light years ahead of their "peers" in that grungy early 90s era. Their skill as musicians was incomparable. They wrote classics too. Interstate Love Song blew my mind back in '94. I knew it was a classic from the get go. Hootie was covering it within a year or two. They both come off as genuinely good people. And they loved Scott immensely.

met Robert outside his studio in approx 2002, he came up to my car when i was parking about to go into my friends practice studio, i handed him our demo cd and he was so warm and graceful with a huge smile, really a great guy ... stp one of the best of all time will live forever
Wow. That's quite a story. The closest I ever came to engaging with Robert was a show in 2010. I was in the front row and he looked at me, as I pointed to him in acknowledgment. He responded in kind, smiling and patting his hand over his heart. I'm glad I had that moment with him.
On a cold winters night in Toronto about 12 or 13 years ago, Dean and Robert DeLeo walked into the Cameron House. On the outside it looks like a high-profile venue, but on that night it was an empty Open Mic Night
I'm wondering whether I'm thinking that Jonesy is the most enjoyable interviewer I've ever listened to. So laid back and unforced. Jonesy's got the good stuff!
Nice improvising there Dean, you guys are the best. I truly hope you're able to get back up on your feet again and sell out arenas and festivals soon! Thanks for putting such an amazing re-issue together for "Core", I hope to see the other albums done the same way! Much love!
Always knew the DeLeos sandbagged until the right times. They both have chops in spades, and that's what really keeps them 'in the room'. Plus, anyone who noodles Holdsworth in an arena before showtime automatically gets a pass for life.
This might be the funniest interview I’ve seen in a long time! Nice to see the rapport he has with the Deleos & how they embrace & riff off Steve’s dry humor.
BEAUTIFUL GUITAR WORK, FELLAS! I am genuinely impressed...no wonder Robert didn't come in with some vocalizations (although he very well could have -- he's a terrific singer)...that kind of guitar beauty needs no other voice. Just, wow, guys. For some improv "noodling," it's just stellar stuff. I want a CD copy of this. Yes, take Steve out on the road with you, DeLeo bros!

Heard this live. Was blown away . They played a lot more than what’s here, but thank you for posting this. If you get a chance check out Trip the Witch. A record Dean did with Tom Bukovac.
I liked the interview, although I'm not fluent in English... STP is the best group of the 90's. My favorite member is Robert. I love Robert🥰, He has a nice smile and a nice voice and a great bass player.
God, I love and admire Steve Jones! He is a trooper. a winner a great guy! From a junkie strung out on smack to a gainfully employed lover of life. What is not to love?
5:49 - Totally. In one of their live videos Scott’s singing Vasoline into the camera with his hair bright red and I’m thinking yeah that’s a huge John Lydon thing he was into.
this is one of the most beautiful and genuine interviews I have gotten to watch in I don't know how long...how cool. Awesome noodling too, does everyone call it that?
Its really good to hear the position the brothers took on Scott.Yes, what a talent. I grew up with brothers and a dad and other people who were attics. I tried to join the attic thing to be part of. That didnt work out so well. Its painful to see talented loved ones destroy themselves before ones eyes. They would usually wanted me to join them in self destruction. The codependency thing is real and its nice to here that the Deleos are real dudes, talented to the extreme, who cared so much for these guys. But they didnt join the insanity to keep STP original. That must have been real tough to let go of. Best to ya Boys.
At first I didnt notice it but if you look closely he's doubled strunfed the two lowest keys and obviously is using an open tuning method like brian may always uses

There are probably millions of players here on youtube who are technically more capable. But he's one of my top favourite players!

All this talk of Dean. Robert is a force. STP basslines are killer and he wrote a lot of the songs.
Yes, just like Geezer and Sabbath.
Beautiful leads from Dean. Real style and soul.
Wow. That noodling is something else. Dean is so underrated. I'm addicted. I want more!

Fine guitar/bass combo the DeLeo brothers. STP was a breath of a different kind of air that was really welcome back then.
Cy Brunel and WELCOME NOW!
Still is. Love this Band. I really like Deans guitar work.
Two of my most favorite musicians. Wish them the best, they've been thru a lot. Always loved the random jams during sets
That acoustic bit is the greatest
the jam is amazing...
Class act, the DeLeo brothers. Great, laid back conversation.
Robert, Dean, and Jonesey = class acts with talent, grace, character, and heart. So much of that is missing in most of today's modern performers.
