    He's decisive with the ball and looks like an aggressive finisher. That trade for Sabonis, losing Haliburton and his personal situation were pretty devastating to all happen kind of at once. He has a chance to play here.

      Don’t be harsh on Powell, it’s not his fault that he had to keep stepping in to a starting role while the front office sorted out the Porzingis mess…he’s a backup centre who is good in the locker and is efficient in the PNR…it’s up to GM Nico to ensure that we have better options at starting centre and it looks like we do

    Though I don't approve, Powell may start the season as a starter and at some point Kidd will work Holmes into the starting lineup. When you see Holmes closing games with Powell on the bench, then it'll just be a matter of time. He did that last season with Wood. (Wood still wanna stay in Dallas if you haven't noticed). The team ain't telling the public what's really going on with the C Wood situation and how he fell out of favor with Kidd. I think the defense thing is a cop out. I heard there were some "off the court" issues. He probably confronted Kidd like, "Why the heck are you starting Powell over me?" 😂

    It's possible Holmes has one of his best years in the NBA due to Luka n Kyrie's gravity and passing. Also, guys like Josh n Seth can get him the ball aswell. Mostly, excited about Holmes ability to switch on defense and guard elite scoring Wings, while also being able to protect the rim. D-Live can learn timing for blocks from Holmes.

    • @Weather_Nerd
      @Weather_Nerd 11 месяцев назад +1

      To add to the other comment-
      It began with an eye injury. He got surgery and then I want to say had the same eye injured again (or maybe was the other one). He just looked a bit hesitant when he came back and even with goggles he kept getting hit. Domas trade impacted slightly, but not right away because Kings still ran a ton of PnR with Holmes off the bench, he just didn’t “look right”. Season ended and we all found out about the allegations from his ex wife or gf, so as fans we kinda assumed that had as much impact on his play as the two eye injuries. He even admitted his head wasn’t in the game because of it (and us Kings fans were used to this man giving his ALL game in game out so we could tell something was wrong for sure).
      Last season we all hoped we might have one of the best backup centers in the league, but with a severe lack of basic PnR play compared to years past he just never could figure out how to be as effective in Mike Brown’s offense (actually think it is technically Jay Triano’s offense). I truly believe he will find his stride again with the Mavs, I pray he does he is an absolute fan favorite in Sac and always will be. He is somewhat limited in play style but as long as he gets plenty of PnR play he will thrive. As for defense, he was one of our best perimeter defenders for years. Not that that is saying much with how bad our D was but he truly was one of the best centers in the league imo with that. He is a solid help side shot blocker. Undersized, but if he stays vertical he can defend the rim decently at times but will get eaten alive by some of the BIG bigs (who doesn’t lol).
      His push shot is automatic and he was like top 2-5 in fg% one season. Solid FT shooter for a big, including clutch FTs. Solid hands, great footwork. Probably not best screen setter but after watching Domas who is probably the best, it’s hard to fairly judge. He can shoot the 3 pretty well, odd form but he has it down. He is the definition of energy and effort. I am excited to see him with the Mavs squad and will always be rooting for him, you Mavs fans enjoy him (and his amazing family especially his mother Lydecia!) and treat him well please lol. Hope he becomes a fan favorite for you all too.

      Oh and yes he has aged but imo he should be about as “mobile Holmes” as he ever was and he is quite athletic. I wouldn’t worry about his age if anyone is. He has a LOT left in the tank. On top of everything, he is a great person with a big heart and his family are all amazing people as well
