Vernon from Massachusetts here.
I'm 53 and a lifelong Ramones fan.
Monte's book is the best!
Thank you Jason
Thank you Monte
Jason Green is one of the greatest interviewers on the planet right now !
I'm not a big RUclips commenter either but I wanted to sincerely thank you for your channel. It's been a source of entertainment for me while dealing with some family issues this week. You've also turned me on to some new artists I wasn't alive to experience back in the glory years. I wish you all the best and continued success.
Hey,
Thank you for the nice words!
It’s comments like yours that make it all worth doing this… glad to provide a distraction
JG
Greatest band of all times glad I got to see them about a dozen times
Man, what a hidden gem this interview is for a Ramones fan. TY!
Monty is such an unsung hero of Rock and Roll history, and a very funny guy to boot.
He's a saint for going through what he had to go through with The Ramones. I just read his book for the fourth time, I just can't get enough!
Memories of Ramones shows. Seen twice in Houston. Mondo Bizaro tour with Social Distortion opening. SD was decent, not exciting. Ramones were a blast. However the 2nd time seeing them on Acid Eaters tour was much better at the now closed Bayou City Theater. Place was packed, floor and balcony. A bar down the street had a sign "Wanna be sedated, come here after the Ramones." Frank Black from the Pixies opened. Everyone sat the entire time on the floor and in the seats/balcony while Frank was on. Frank said "I guess everyone is here to see the Ramones." Huge applause. I remember this show very well, show seemed to be an extra special night somehow. Johnny was actually smiling here and there throughout. Easily the most entertaining Ramones member, doing the spins, aggressive playing. A single spotlight went on Johnny and followed him as he ran up the front ramp/platform and played the chords during the Sedated solo, everyone went crazy and huge applause, you would've thought he was Yngwie in that moment from the reaction. The audience was all about Johnny that night. During shape of things to come, near the beginning pause section he does a pull down single note and people went nuts for it. In between songs Joey started singing "The stars at night are big and bright.....immediately everyone did the double clap and sang with him....”deep in the heart of Texas, Joey and everyone sang a few more lines of the song...then Joey introduced as "yea and I wanna live" sort a jab there Joey? :) Chinese Rocks was great, audience sang nearly every word. 7 and 7 is super intense live. The energy level never let up.
Another fantastic interview, Jason. You are a terrific interviewer.
Thank you Paul! Very much appreciated
Great interview ! Thank you !
I’m glad you enjoyed it, this was a cool one for me
Really looking forward to this one 😀
Thanks Joe, I hope you enjoyed it
Loved this interview
Thanks Kimberly!
I’m glad you liked it
I love this interview and honestly, I just recently started digging into The Ramones -- and like them a lot. Monte is super down to earth and relatable. Great job, Jason!
I met Monte back in Fall of '86 when I was involved with the concert committee at the University of Bridgeport for our Halloween Ramones concert show. Didn't meet the band, but we students were happy to take their gear out of their trailer and move it on to the stage. Monte was cool, and told us where to put the stuff. He was very orderly. This was a real local gig for the Ramones.
Hi Jason, I've said it before but I have to say it again, this is your best interview yet. I liked hearing not only Monte's insights, but your personal stories with the Ramones too. Being originally from New York I was fortunate enough to see them a couple of times and one time Joey sprayed me in the face with a big bottle of seltzer. It burned my eyes but it was great!
Mr Green
I’ve really been enjoying your content. You’re very patient & fair with your guests. You create an open & non judgmental environment that allows for things to happen organically & its never “all about you”.
Your wit is informed, quick & joyously ridiculous.Continued success.
PS - I played with Walter Lure a few times - thanks for remembering him
Mark,
Thank you for taking the time to share some positive words, much appreciated

Hey Jason.. great interview. It’s obvious how excited you were to do this. From start to finish The Ramones story is so grass roots and Monte really was the 5th Ramone. I read and loved his book. All the T-Shirt talk reminded me of Richie’s unfortunate dilemma. Richie’s book and Mickey Leigh’s book are both also great. I was lucky enough to see them live with all the drummers( except Clem.. Marky before and after) and they were all different but cardio blessed and great. As you mentioned Tommy had the touch and really was the architect of the Ramones feel. Like The Monkees they were unique personalities for sure , that came together and made magic together. Thank you.
Really enjoyed this great insight into the band. Saw the Ramones 4 times in Newcastle 87/89/91 and 1994.Still got fond memories of the shows where the club came alive after the intro tape. A long time ago but never forgotten!!.
I'm a huge RAMONES fan..Lucky to have seen them many times here in NYC. This hands down is my favorite interview.Thank you
Great interview Jason Green!! Big Monte A. Melnick
Great interview !!
Thank You Steve! Appreciate you
Awesome. Thank you, Jason!
Real well organized Monte, real well organized Monte! -Johnny
One of my all time favorite quotes
This interview has got me immediately checking out the Ramones back catalog. Nice work. Jason - be great if you could relist your top favorite Ramones tracks again - like to add them to my every growing playlist.
Hey Brian,
Thank you!
I’ll try to make a list & do a show about all my favorite Ramones songs
Awesome
I had never heard the "taking care of those boys" story before. Oh gosh 😆😂🤣! So funny. Great interview. 👍Should have many more views!
That was great.
Thank you, I’m glad watched
I saw the Ramones four times here in Finland: in 1988, 1990, 1991 and 1994.
Big fan, big fan…
I would love to see you interview CJ
Great interview! Much Appreciation! (>‿◠)✌
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it
I have a friend from Switzerland name Ramone that I grew up with he is French. Are we going there right now?
That cartoon cover doesn't impress me or make me want to read it, but this interview does. I see another interview on the right links-Jake Fogernest whoever he is.
NO WAY !
Yes Way
He should change his name Monte Ramone 😎🎸
i wanna get my hands on somthing signed or drawn by dee dee ramone if you ever would be interested in selling anything cool like that to me id grab it in a heart beat prob wont happen but deff worth a ask lol cheers again dude imma tune in this wens
Dee Dee, Douglas, was the force of The Ramones !
But all those guys - all played a major part.
Jason I have a sticker from the last Ramones show at the Palace in Hollywood. It read' 'Adios Amigos' the show was originally scheduled at 'Billboard Live' but the change venues because they wanted a bigger place to film a live concert. 'The 2263rd Show. Jason do you have something to trade for it? I might
Jason if you grew up in L.A. you'd be considered a poser? how did you get into the metal scene?
Every now & then I like to respond to a stupid comment & you’re todays winner. I obviously did not grow up in LA, but why would I be considered a “poser” and by who?
Powerful stuff! You could easily get more people watching with Promo'SM!
I don't think of punk when I hear the Ramones. They have more in common with Eddie Cochran than they do with the Sex Pistols
You might be listening to the wrong songs, but it was Sid Vicious who covered Eddie Cochran
Looking forward to this one! I know you were friendly with Johnny. Hoping for some great questions for Monte!
Great job, Jason. Really enjoyed that. Cheers!
Great interview!
