DooM 64 - All Demon Keys (Unmaker Upgrades)

- The three Demon Keys in Doom 64, used to upgrade the Unmaker. These upgrades come in the form of a faster and improved fire rate and an increase in damage dependant on how many keys the player has picked up.
One of each is found in the game's three main secret levels, MAP29: Outpost Omega, MAP30: The Lair, and MAP31: In The Void. They are also used in the final level, Map28: The Absolution, to disable the demon teleporters in the level.

Finding these levels without a guide would have been pure luck.
I played this in 1997 and had no idea about the demon keys.
I always played the game without it but getting all 3 keys makes such a huge difference that I can't go back

I love doom 64!! Hidden gem of the doom series!! I play this game with noise cancel headphones the sound design is great but unmakes is loud!!!!
Aubrey Hodges work is amazing in Doom 64. The unmaker is just as loud in doom eternal.

I've always found that doom 64 is really hard and makes me angry, but it's just so addictive and fun at the same time.
@@Krispy-Klips difficulty levels are there for a reason my guy, if you play on Watch me Die difficulty you're going to waste at least 10 minutes on a single level.
I totally agree with you. The main thing that sucks is that it's called Doom64 rather than Doom the Absolution. It's like "We get it. It's a 64 bit system. FFS the name of the system is Nintendo 64. It was just so over doing it. So many people thought it was just another port of PC doom, Which would have been a really good port for it's time seeing how nice this game turned out to be. It might have at least matched the PS1 version or even surpassed it some respects, though the limited space on the carts would present a problem.
With all that out of the way. I was fortunate enough to play this game back in the day when it came out and was so surprised at what I found. I showed all my friends at the time. They all loved it.

Secret door holding the demon key is blocked for me for some reason... I barely see the thing thru since its not completely blocked. I can open it but cannot acces. So frustrating

So I just beat it on watch me die and totally forgot to go grab these, it’s my last trophy I need but can I just level warp to get each one or do you need to do a full play through again??
If you wanna keep them you need to replay the whole game. I'm not sure if the trophy activates through level select

You'll never see video games this difficult ever again, they make it so damn easy today it's not even funny.... I beat RDR2 in all four different ways with EASE, it was waiting it out that was the hard part
These kind of games fell niche now. Story driven experiences seem to be the thing now

If I die with a demonic key, but I load game with it, do I lose it? like I was on the first demon key but I ended up dying, but I gave load game after getting it in phase 29, right after the phrase " you have a feeling that...." appears after I got it... sorry for the bad English.
is that I was leaving with the demonic key for the exit until a damn pain elemental killed me, so I gave game load and played until phase 5... if I lose (the demonic key) I restart the whole game from the beginning no problem, i'm brazilian and my english is really bad, right?

Does anybody know what levels you can get an unmaker on?
You can first find it in Outpost Omega (which is a secret level) or the first regular level is MAP 12: Altar of Pain

You go to Map04, then find the secret exit, same for maps 12 and 18. Take the secrete exit on all these maps.
Also if you actually watch the video. It shows you where to go and what to do in both the normal maps and the subsequent maps and secrete maps.

It’s bullshit because when I finish level 29 with the artefact key, it takes me to level 5 after?? How do I go level 30 without features menu and start with nothing again
You have to beat the whole campain without dying, just follow the video. Secret level access on levels 4, 12, and 18.
I'm stuck because I'm trying to get the Megaarmor but I don't know if I can strafe on the console version anyone know if you can?

@@Pactastic042 in doom 64 you press a button to strafe instead of holding it, the default one is LS on the controller, but you can map it to any button you want.
You dont need to grab it for the key. But if you do grab the key first you cannot grab the mega armor anymore

Yes unfortunately. Dying will also remove the keys so always save state to prevent all your progress.

Yeaaaa, it has to be a full playthrough. Also, don't die. That'll reset your progress. If that happens load a quicsave
Came to the comments to figure this out. I got the 3rd one but was curious if I could level select to get the other two:( looks like I gotta do a whole new play through too
I circled around and shot enemies with the rocket launcher then chain gun to finish the rest off when the mother comes out I stood behind the switch on the right and literally poke out a little bit so you can just see her then unload your unmaker on her if you’re standing in the right place she won’t be able to hit you

3 is all for this one. Used to lock the 3 doors in the final boss battle
I only find the firt but all the secret levels
How in the world are you even supposed to figure these out without a guide? I found and got the second one relatively easy because I thought that secret exit was the actual exit for that specific level.
Still a great game though.
Some of the old game secrets are whack. The worst part is is that if you die you lose possession of all demon keys
just be a kid and have few games that you play over and over. i found the super secret level "hectic" by accident. way back then on the og cart.

well that sucks, i got the unmaker on level 12 only to look up the guide and you get the first key after level 4, guess i have to beat the boss legitimately
