I prefer the original Whitney Houston version of this song with Whitney Houston but this is a great rendition and compliments and makes me appreciate both versions. At least someone did a remake and it's great. Gratefully, Carla ❤😊

@@kw4201 I can verify that you are correct, I checked this out. I love all 3 versions, but my favorite is Whitney and Cissy Houston. If there are any other released versions I will give a listen. for sure but these 3 versions touch me in a different way.

I might get a little crap for this but I don't care. I'm a big metal head. Sludge, grunge; give it to me. But when I was just a wee lad, my mum played and sang this as an opener at a concert and received a standing ovation. I have never forgotten that feeling of pride I had in her. I don't know how this video ended up on my home screen, but thank you for bringing back a really beautiful memory from my childhood.

Agreed! They have aged so gracefully and their voices complement each other so well! I was so moved by the way the two of them sang this song. Her strong singing backed up by Emma’s soft touch. I loved the original but this has now become my go to version for this song. Really rolled back the years

I can't decide which voice I like more....they just sound so perfect together.
i feel like these 2 girls have been the closest together, they have grown into amazing ladies. they have come far since the spice girls, it's just amazing how they were a popular music group in the 90's and now all the spice girls are mothers.
Because they are the 2 Spice Girls that was level headed in the group. To think they are the last 2 members added. The core group is actually Posh, Scary and Ginger.

Not only Melanie C is the best Spice Girls singer but she's also the most creative and artistic. She never cared about charts and sales and as a true artist she always took risks by facing every kind of music, even rock and musical theater. A huge amount of talent yet so underrated.

+nicky aguilera You're completely out of your mind instead. As an established fact Mel C is the best when it comes to talent (vocals, writing, performing). Emma has a limited singing voice compared to Melanie's. Melanie is a complete singer, capable of facing every kind of music. She has the biggest range in the group and the most evident skills (runs, melismas, sustained long notes and whatnot). You prefer her sweet tone over Mel's powerful and soulful tone but that's totally subjective, tone is subjective! I like both of their tones, yet I prefer Melanie's with no question. "Skill" is an objective quality instead. Moreover, none of the other Spices wrote lyrics as intricate as those from Northern Star or Beautiful Intentions and Mel is clearly the only one able to entertain a crowd on her own singing for two consecutive hours and with nousing lip-sync or back-up dancers. These are all facts. As for beauty, it's in the eye of the beholder. I find both Mel and Emma to be extremely hot, yet bringing up beauty in a comparison regarding singers/artists isn't a smart move, you sound very superficial. Also, this duet isn't meant to be a comparison or a rivalry between the two, both of them actually complemented each other in the song. they sound amazing together. Enjoy the damn song and grow up.

Out of the five Spices, Mel C and Emma are by far the best singers, they carried the group vocally. What’s more, they seem to be the nicest and most grounded of the group, and it shows!
I never realized it at the time, focused more on the visuals...but i completely agree. Scary had good pipes too but mel c had the best voice

She planned it that way. That is how careers on-line are made. "Sporty and baby" - no-one thought that in the early days of The Spice Girls. Even now Sporty is the "ugly one". I think she is gorgeous with the best voice but men! On QI (or one of them) they continually refer to her as the fifth Spice Girl (ie the one men would not go to bed with no matter what).
However, the original comment has one truth. Emma is gorgeous and nice and has a voice I like hearing and Mel C is the same. To me Mel C might be the one men called ugly spice but she is gorgeous; funny and authentic and the most talented.

Mel C and Emma Bunton are perhaps the best voices in the Spice Girls. I love this version of the song, they make it perfect. Mel C has always been my favourite Spice Girl but, what can I say... the point when Emma sings 'It took time to understand him', simply melts my blood in my veins.
When I was young, I was never smart enough to appreciate Mel C. I was too busy drooling over the cheap attention-seeker Geri. Now as an adult, when revisiting clips and videos of the group, I realize who the true star was. Someone with actual class, contrary to Geri or Mel B.

I feel this song for the first time in years.... it's about wanting to be together but not being able to be together. It's about heart break and sacrifice. I understand it now, I feel it now and it goes right through me. I've heard this song a million times, played it, sang it but for the first time I am it.

Mel C and Emma also did a song together called “Free Up Your Mind” for the soundtrack to Pokémon: The First Movie in late 1999. Check it out if you haven’t already. It has a Spice Girls pop/rock vibe, but they were also still together at the time, so it makes sense.
