- Iowa man Tyler Dazey was charged with first-degree murder after his mother was found murdered and beaten in her home. When the police discovered his dead mother, she had brutal injuries to her head, neck, and face. Dazey allegedly told police that his mother, Jennifer Ann Dazey, practiced witchcraft against him. Dazey is also accused of murdering the family dog. Dazey could face up to life behind bars if convicted. The 28-year-old was deemed competent for trial after a series of evaluations.

The audio is absolutely horrible. Makes it hard to hear and know exactly what is happening since you only catch a quarter of what is being said.
The 911 call is heartbreaking. I was in tears just listening to it. I can’t imagine what her friend is going through. I hope she heals and find peace.
It was one of the worst things I've ever heard. I've only ever heard a couple of 911 calls though and they were all by perps feigning innocence. When someone's really that upset it tears at you inside, like you experienced and so did I. That poor woman finding her beloved friend like that is heartbreaking.
I hope I’m misunderstanding what I’m reading…some are saying how she sees the puppy dead on the sofa then continues calling for her friend like this isn’t right, or something wrong with her doing this. Well, if you remember.. she thought Jennifer probably doesn’t know about her puppy so she continues to look for Jennifer. Not a thing wrong with how she handled this.
Also read a few comments where people are dissing her because of how she is talking. Well, if I was up there, I would be on a strong nerve medication too! In the end, what she saw was horrific, I doubt I would be myself for a very long time!

Soooo, after finding the dog under a sheet, she still went to the bedroom to say “Hey Jenny, com’n you never sleep in this late, let’s go”, kinda weird, but then again everyone is different and deal with things differently.

Kristy is behaving a lil strange, she has to be on some meds or something, I know auto immune has several different meds for treatment so..but to me she sounds like she is reading a story. Then to be so cheery when trying to wake Jennifer, AFTER seeing her so beloved puppy dead on the couch,,,I would be crying terribly, loving furrbabies so much. THANK YOU I am so sus of this witness. Barely a shred of emotion on direct and when she's asked about something seemingly crucial she needs a break? I'm not saying anything for certain but i have SO many questions about the behavior of this witness. Could be TOTALLY explainable and mundane but if i'm the jury i'm like, i need to hear WAY more from this witness rn
ok edited to add: the answer to the question was that she knew the code, and says some other people did too. i am seriously wondering if this witness has guilty knowledge or WHY she is so stressed about this one point. again it COULD be mundane explanations but if i'm a jury looking for reasonable doubt it is already being planted for me. obv need to hear more but i feel this witness is not being totally honest.

Something is odd about her story. With all the meds she probably on, probably when this happened. The very second I saw the dog on the sofa…covered up… boom, I’m out the door calling 911.
Clearly people react differently. Obviously she’s a great friend and caring person to this victim. Appears she was and still is traumatized by this event.

Defense attorney has no defense just going in circles. Guilty!!
No one sight of the defendant? Why is that? It’s visually more interesting to split the screen into two or three scenes, witness, def and evidence. And audio check?
He waived his appearance. So he won't be there the entire trial. I don't think you should be able to do such a thing but it is what it is.
@88jeebs I know, Judges should require them to be at every hearing. In the Harmony Montgomery case, her coward pos father who murdered her, never went to the trial but Judge made him appear for sentencing.

I hope you find peace going forward from this traumatic experience and the loss of your friend. I’m sorry you had to experience testifying but you helped bring justice to Jennifer.
Probably because she was processing what she saw and also probably thought he already knew. Or maybe she did and she forgot. I have big chunks missing of the moments I experienced traumatic events and had others not filled me in I may not have ever known that there were more details and tjat I had totally forgotten them. The human brain does this for self preservation/defense mechanism.
Sooo . . . . did they come back after lunch? or was everyone poisoned and they had to abandon the trial?

There’s probably a court technician… I’m pretty sure the media are there to record the trial and report it, warts and all. I’m pretty sure the media doesn’t get to control all the audio and tech in a courtroom 🙄
There’s also probably multiple media outlets in court recording it and they’d all being picking up the bad audio
@JennieC21 There is not a court tech that controls the audio for the media 🤦♀️. L&C absolutely has the ability to fix the audio, which, as you will see they eventually end up doing. As far as any other media outlet covering the trial, unfortunately, it was only L&C was livestreaming to RUclips.
If you're watching this for free and you did not have to take the time to be present I wouldn't think you would complain. Yes, in the beginning, the audio was shotty but some of it was the mics in the courtroom I myself could tell that. Some may have been the recorder's equipment. However, I did not have to travel to Davenport to see this and nobody else did either. I am thankful for the coverage. Thank you L&C for making this possible.

It’s unfortunate his DNA not on hatchet but it was in bathroom and he had showered, could have rinsed it. His palm print was on it. The misdirection with not being able to say her blood was contributor of DNA or if skin cells is used to try confuse. Same with if tested if human or animal. Ok, say swab blood but somehow touch DNA overwhelms that of blood and the blood from the dog - proves nothing. It’s clever but annoying. The dog was killed and JD was murdered. Pointing out tiny possibility DNA profile from skin cells not blood (unlikely) shows nothing that questions whether son murdered her. Such a waste of time. It doesn’t matter if her blood or dogs that was on floor in living room!! She did test one area and it was HUMAN blood so don’t test it all so defense grasped on ones not tested but it doesn’t change facts. Not as if it was DNA from another person that could be suspect.
Is it usual for a uniform cop to be that well educated?
Yes. To get onto the job, you have to take what is essentially intelligence test.

Until you've had your best friend and your best friend's dog unalived and are one to find them, then have to get on the stand and testify about it, I really think you have no room to judge on how someone's demeanor should be.
Plus she's already been through police interviews, deposition and no doubt friend's and family asking about it. It is a VERY traumatic experience and she is only six months out.

This is someone with obvious deep trauma from this horror who unexpectedly had a PTSD episode on the stand. If you don’t have that you wouldn’t understand.
Not at all suspicious but definitely medicated. I feel so bad for her, she walked into a nightmare.
I think she is really trying to tell the truth and suppress her nerves and emotions, she was traumatised probably still is … felt for her 😢
