@@simonchi5372 sure, you just don't play it against them. But tokens, goblins, cats, elves, convoke and so on? Would work like a charm. Id main one copy and side one or two more in my blue Flash deck.
I loved Aurelia the Warleader. She was amazing back in the day in a few different decks like the top end threat in Boros weenies. By far may favorite use of Aurelia was an alternate build of Angel of Serenity/Unburial Rites Junk Reanimator for Standard that included red mostly for her and a another couple cards between the deck and sideboard. It won consistently in the mirror when Junk Reanimator was ruling the format for half the year due to the cards I already mentioned along with Thragtusk to stabilize/exploit and the amazing Grisly Salvage to find all the pieces super early. I think we may end up with a fairly similar format to 2013/2014, as there are a good deal of equivalent strategy/card options/decks. I think seeing strong reanimator, tokens, control, speed weenies, and enchantment focused decks are likely to continue to be what we see at the top of major tournaments when Foundations drops and immediately starts to influence the format. I am really excited for Foundations and the current Standard for the same reasons I loved 2013/2014, because those years were extremely good for standard with not only lots of variation and viability, but also a ton of decks that were fun and challenging to pilot. Many of the winning decks from the time required more thought than just turning stuff sideways as fast as possible or playing what is essentially Magic solitaire with little interaction. Hopefully the addition of Foundations will give Standard the shot in the arm it so desperately needs.
I can't wait to see flash platinum angel with leyline equipment and the swift boots control decks things. I can't wait to see the "against all odds" almost meme decks with omniscience nonsense. Hype.
Llanowar Elves is my number 1 pick too. I think Day of Judgment and Zombify might also make the list. I think these are pretty exciting to be considered the baseline standard. I hope that it means designers will have a bit more room to go wild on more interesting variants of those effects, or at least not feel compelled to recreate the same thing in each set.
Great idea to make a reprint list too. One thing: Am I misremembering things? Didn't Muldrotha see like close to no play? I also checked on mtgtop8 and searched for decks in that time period and a only found a couple of entries in standard. And since that time, standard changed a lot.
Muldrotha has a home in my Sultai Lhurgoyf style deck. Self mill with that card is damned dangerous. Find a way to pull lands out of your mill and you can get Muldrotha out a good bit early.
Playing since 4th edition and Ice Age. I traded my baseball cards for a shoe box full of cards from those sets. And i will say im real spiky alot of times. But i cant believe some of these cards are on here. Boros charm ,lan elves ,and others are obviously going to be played. Noobs need to git gud.
