    6:55 freeze is with the checkmark above (beside the save button). Very important feature as you can also "nail down" diapason and maybe dynamics.

    Hi Dave, beautifull review. I own the full pro version with all instruments on board since version 4. Tweaking all parameters per note is awesome. All instruments beside the piano based are stunning. For keyboard players it is by far the best plugin available.
    I own a lot of piano plugins - like Keyscape/NI piano's/ Synthogy / IK mm / Truepianos / Reason Pianos and many more. This plugin let you tweak the piano sound so much that you can achieve every pianosound you'd like.
    I use it live on stage and it is really pushing through the mix.
    Bye

    well done dave on this great demo, lovely presentation style. great playing. fab plugin. quick tip, throw a peak limiter on your master bus (loudmax is free and works great). lower the volume of the plugin, and then reduce the threshold on loudmax to make up the volume without nasty occasional clipping!

    Nice presentation, Rich. I like your style!
    BTW: Use the "Freeze Parameter" section to check off the parameters that you don't want to change whenever you go from one preset to another. That will be good for your entire session. However, if you want that to be the default every time you start the program, be sure and check "set as default" at the bottom of the freeze parameters screen.

    Implementing a version suitable for the Raspberry Pi probably required little more than compiling the source code for the RPi as the target platform. Also, while PianoTeq may be easy on resources in terms of the RAM and storage space that are not needed for samples … it is a much more CPU bound application. I haven't performed any quantitative analysis, but I would imagine your CPU is quite a bit busier performing the calculations to "physically" model the piano sound board, etc. than it is with a sample based piano module.

      It's more than a sense of humour, it's a vital part of the realism. In the same manner as the oscillator drift in modelled vintage analogue synths.
      I really like Pianoteq and I've never like the 50 gig sample stuff.

      @@PeterWalkerHP16c Indeed, I was merely joking. I'm very impressed with Pianoteq, especially v6. Have since removed some of those "50 gig" libraries. Same story for some classic solo instruments like oboe, flute etc after using SWAM instruments :)

    Great review, Dave! I have several piano VSTs (Garritan CFX, Noire, Ravenscroft, NIs, Kescape...) and to my ears, Pianoteq has always sounded too bright and woody, regardless of the model. But, man, it's so playable. I still can't decide if it's better than Garritan CFX (my current favorite sampled-based piano). What do you guys think?

    Damn! That condition feature is EXACTLY what I was wishing I had on the song I just recorded. I was even thinking of pulling 2-3 notes out of the midi, and using a separate track with a slight tuning anomaly. One thing about the review - I have a feeling even the worst piano would sound great under your fingers. Would be good to hear a mere mortal play it too. Other than that, great review Dave!
    Slightly off topic - I'd love to be able to see and hear you play and study your chops a bit. Any chance of a vid with a camera aimed at the keys?

    I tried Pianoteq a few years ago (I think it was version 5 but who can remember) and I thought it was the most realistic feeling and responsive "fake" piano I had played but it just didn't sound as good as good sampled pianos. This sounds really good so I'm going to download the demo and give it another try. What I really want is an NV5 but I just don't have $8500 lying around!

      Heya - the sound comes out of your computer or audio interface. If you don't have an audio interface (with Midi input if you're wanting to use an external controller keyboard) - then I would recommend getting one. The Steinberg UR 22 MK II is what I have and would be fine for your needs.

    Its a good vst but its nowhere near the new pureacoustic modelling by rolamd who has 16000 layer per key and unlimited poly.
    Plus uts couple to the speakers system in the lx708.
    Sorry pianoteq need a multi channel output. So overtone go out different speaker etc.

    • @higltypig
      @higltypig  5 лет назад

      had a listen to some youtube vids - haven't heard anything I like more than the Pianoteq-, much more depth to the sound ( I LOVE Roland UK as a company though, they are a fantastic company to deal with). Also,- the Roland is a whole piano and as I can see not available as a plugin?

    • @itsflatandlevel256
      @itsflatandlevel256 5 лет назад

      @@higltypig the point is a plugin can only emulate a recorded or (mic) piano.
      For a real piano emulation you need a multi channel speaker that divide the sound component and send it from the same direction a real grand.
      That is where roland and yamaha are working at now.
      Modelling is the futur and pianoteq is ibterresting but it is limited by its core midi engine of 128 layer of midi limit per key andno multichannel output.
      That is why im not interrested.
      I love sitting at the lx708because the sound fill a room like a acoustic piano. The overtone are send to tweeter...when i play high note the sound come from the right etc.. its more realist

    • @higltypig
      @higltypig  5 лет назад +2

    • @itsflatandlevel256
      @itsflatandlevel256 5 лет назад

      @@higltypig the thing is under 20000$a acoustic just sound like shit.
      The market is shifting has most piano maker stop producing small upright or even baby grand.
      For exemple the lx708 has rich basses that are on par with a concert grand.
      You will never have that in aupright
      So there is kind of no point buyibg acoustic in these price range.
      For exemple even the roland gp609 is 15000$and it gives you more sound then a much bigger piano.
      Never need to be tuned..always consistent.
      In less then 10 years most home piano will be digital andthe real grand will be kn concert hall. I had a yamaha c3 and i sold it humidity was always working on it... it needed yearly adjustement...tuning..plus the basses were so so.
