Adele would have been fun. Andrews was a stage actor that was pretty unknown. They don’t make those sorts of gambles anymore. There probably is a broadway person that could have done well though. Hollywood likes to get actors and then just autotune them.

According to a transcript of the skit (snltranscripts.jt.org/08/08dpoppins.phtml), Jane Banks is played by Casey Wilson. The resemblance here, to the Winifred Banks of Glynis Johns, is remarkable. I'd wondered if anyone else had thought the same. Thank you for having mentioned.

Sometimes I watch something like this on TV and I stopped to think about all the time that was spent setting out the fake garden flowers behind them, making the scenery, picking out just the right shoes, the cast numbers putting them on over Edwardian period hosiery, all for less than four and a half minutes. It's an amazing line of work.
