I just saw Mathew Bourne's SWAN LAKE with Richard Winsor (beautiful) and Dominic North (handsome) and I loved it.This was beautiful too.Roberto Bolle is gorgeous.Have to check more of him.A superior dancer.Ballot is very beautiful to watch.The Classical music is music of the GOD'S.Loved it.
AmeRicanItalian Israel :) Please do check out more of Roberto :)) I think you will be pleasantly surprised - or not :) He is a danseur noble in all senses of the word, fabulous lines, almost (I would never claim otherwise) faultless technique, although I struggle to find it except on a bad day (we all have them ) ..but apart from that he is a super guy too, with staggering humility, generosity and positivity -- but there -- I am a tad biased lol. There is much to see on the rest of the channel - enjoy!

Love this clip - it's one of my favorites. And the choreography here is truly difficult - the most difficult I've seen yet - but I don't think that's Diana Vishneva.

@@blueraspberry9517 I spent part of my day looking at pictures of Diana Vishneva and comparing them. I didn't find any pictures of her with that color hair or such manicured eyebrows. And I'm still not sure that the dark haired Vishneva is one and the same. But what do I know. The performance is magnificent, nonetheless. Thank you for sharing.
@@ChrisEllyn Diana is dark haired (sans wig), but I can one hundred percent assure you that this IS her dancing at a performance with Roberto at Teatro alla Scala in 2001.

Ottimo mantenimento delle pose figurali alcune delle quali inedite ed estremamente accattivanti anche in elanistico convolo della ballerina. Imperativa l'occupazione balzata dello spazio da parte del ballerino. Ottima l'impressione di facilità esecutiva d'acchito da parte di entrambi. VERAMENTE BRAVI E CONVINCENTI

Roberto is a beautiful gay man, who adores women and has the gift of the Gods when it comes to dancing.
This must be Nureyev's version of SB. The Prince's variation looks exactly as Rudi did it (although I don't think Bolle has quite the dynamism Rudi did). Vishneva, as usual, is amazing.
kabardinka1 You are correct, it is indeed Nureyev's choreography, but I am not sure about the dynamism. I think what you see with Rudi is speed around the stage, which necessarily makes it look more dynamic. That speed is possible because he was barely 5 foot nine tall. Roberto on the other hand is six foot two - with long limbs and an altered centre of gravity that takes far more control than those of smaller stature. Not to take anything away from Nureyev, but what Bolle lacks in speed he more than compensates for with fabulous lines, partnering skills and sheer elegance. I also disagree with you about Vishneva - I think there are far better Aurora's and cite Cojacaru, Nunez, and the best by far, Darcey Bussell.
+navarre brixen Some of it is just how Rudi danced (in his prime, not in the final third of his over-extended career). Rudi was never an especially clean dancer or technically brilliant but if you saw him live (which I was fortunate enough to do) he could make what he did look absolutely thrilling because of the sheer energy, forward drive and focus he instilled in his variations. I've seen superb dancers who were Rudi's size, try to do his variations and failed miserably. Ask anyone who has to perform them and they'll tell you they are the most exhausting and overwhelming pieces of dance they've ever encountered and a beast to get through. Bolle is an excellent dancer, far better trained than Rudi, with better line, flexibility, etc. but he's a languid kind of performer, not a tiger like Rudi was. It just doesn't fit him. And Vishneva is excellent IMO at whatever she does. I didn't say the best and, yes, I would probably rather see Cojacaru as Aurora than her, but that doesn't take away from her excellent performance. I actually find Bussell rather bland... different strokes for different folks.
+navarre brixen Just to point out, one of Nureyev's protegees, Danish dancer Kenneth Greve, was 6'4" and was outstanding at dancing allegro sequences. Bolle and Rudi are just very different dancers. And yes, thank you for acknowledging what we saw of Rudi in his 30s. He not infrequently danced 5-6 leading roles in full length performances every week for many years. He was known to dance leads in full length performances even twice a day?! There is no one ever who approached the sheer mountain of performing he did and his body, of course, started deteriorating from a schedule like that already when he was in his late 20s. (plus the added issue of the horrendous travel schedule he put himself through since he effectively had no real home company). I'm not saying it was smart of him to do that (a lot of it was greed) but when comparing him to other dancers, it's important to realize those other dancers would have fallen apart in a couple of months of Rudi's schedule, and many of them have said as much.

I am not a dancer, I just LOVE to watch classical ballet but I've often wondered, do the dancers have any say in the speed of the music? Diana's solo is the slowest I've ever heard played, and I wonder if that's requested by the dancers? Or just the conductor preferring to play it slow?
I guess the real answer is that it depends on the 'status' of the dancer. Certainly, with dancers of the calibre of Roberto and Vishneva...the simple answer would be 'yes' as far as pdd are concerned, although the actual answer is that it is a collaboration in the main between conductor (who role essentially is to accompany) and dancer. Of ciurse in pieces that require the corps to be there to it tends to be the soloist that bows to the demands of the many. You are right here....Vishneva dances it far slower than most...the question is why 😊. Is it that she finds something troubling to execute at speed, or does it reflect her artistic preference...........who knows!
I love Diana's dancing so much, but I feel like in some parts during the variation, she was off the music. I think she has a problem keeping up with the music not just here, but in other videos I've watched. She's still very amazing and her musicality is good for the most part however, every now and then, I feel like she's not on the music.
The job of the conductor (in part) is to accompany the performer. The performer may have a different interpretation than the conductor, and require that their variations/solo's etc are played to an .....adjusted? Tempi? So the question is Who is, or is not at the right speed? If Vishneva in her wisdom wants it played how she dances it, that is, in a way, her prerogative, and the conductor (as accompanist) should facilitate that. But if I were a conductor, who hated her interpretation, I can quite imagine that I would attempt to make her see it my way.....but I totally get what you are saying. It almost feels like a battle of wills sometimes. I cant believe that she just doesnt hear it correctly, or that she is somehow not capable. So I choose to view it as if she is just dancing it as she feels it should be and as 'Miss SuperVishneva' she is right and anyone/thing else is .....not how she thinks it should be. 😋
As an afterthought, I am not sure that Aurora is best suited to her either. She is technically sooper-dooper of course, but I see little of the sixteen year old, and none of the 'who is handsome prince who just woke me with a kiss' I see a well executed performance, but it left me totally emotionally un-involved.

Because practice room and stage is two different things!
Well the dancers don’t have that luxury, and on top of that they run around the stage catching their breath!

Welllllll there ya go!! Learn something every day. The Princes variation in the middle is well documented as the hardest male variation in their whole repertoire...it is also considered by many as Roberto's piece de resistance. It is simply beautiful.

Слабая постановка. Как обычно Нур лепил под себя. Аврора не проснулась - темп как в " Спокойной ночи, малыши!"
He is a very classical dancer but no one can compare with Fonteyn in this role. The backbend at the beginning is not good her unsupported leg is too high and her back seems to have no flexibility and what is happening with the index fingers? She does have lovely feet and a lovely arabesque no upturn of the foot spoiling the line of the leg.

No sé si Bolle tratar de lucir masculino, pero nunca lo logra. Muy virtuoso, eso sí, pero siempre aplumado. Detalle que le resta mucho a los personajes que representa.
