I listened to this song on repeat the day after my dad passed away. I don't know why, but it was liberating. I was surrounded by nothing but pain and heartbreak, and this song made me feel like I was flying, free from the prison of grief I was stuck in. Music is the best cure for a broken heart.
This song had helped pilots learn to fly. Now, with the death of Taylor Hawkins, the drummer of Foo Fighters, lots are pilots are sad about his passing. Now, he's flying to Heaven. Rock on, sir and R.I.P..
I'm from West Texas. That 1000 get together for the Foo Fighters actually brought tears to my eyes. I've been in.law enforcement, corrections and EMS as a first responder for over twenty years now, and for once, to see people come together for such a purpose, reaffirms my faith in the Human Race.

Had to give this a listen and VERY LOUD. Thinkin bout the passing of Taylor and hoping the Foos can see their way through. Such a sad tough thing for any band to endure....so very sad. Condolences to all, and especially Taylor's whole extended family. Rest in Peace T.
This song is so beautiful and meaningful. Everytime I'm feeling down and just want to give up i play this song because it keeps me strong and it lifts me up.
I have heard that Dave has said this is one of his least favorite FF's songs. Illustrates so clearly the difference btwn the song writer's vision and what it means to the listener. Every time I hear this, it's like someone has taken a peek deep into my soul...............even today, still so truly beautiful.
I truly understand this song when I heard the lyrics it made me realized many people are going through life with hurt, pain, and loneliness 😔 💔 and they are desperately looking for the answer, and that answer is only found in Jesus Christ beautiful song with a good message....
My dad actually introduced me to the band and this song when I was around 10 or 11 years old. I’m 18 now and this is still my favourite song from the band. I’m super happy I got to know this amazing band and it’s all because of my dad 😊🤟🏻

Have any of you seen the video of the foo fighters in boulder colorado, where the grown man in the audience was crying for the song "hero" and dave had the guy join him on the stage to sing it. That shit gave me chills
It was in Denver Colorado actually I was there. It was electric, the crowd sang to him and it was louder than the blasted out speakers. He gave that man a great moment of fame during a weak moment for him personally. it was amazing, one of the best nights of my life.

so i had always been kind of scared to get on roller coasters, and one time my friend, who is a big roller coaster fan, invited me to six flags on bring a friend free day. i said yes and told myself that i wouldn’t say no to any of the rides because i didn’t want to ruin it for him. as we were about to go through the entrance, there were speakers blasting this song, which i had recently started listening to a lot. it just made me feel alright and like i was gonna have a fun time. we rode a ton of rides and i love roller coasters to this day, almost four years later.

Damn I remember listening to this song in my parents' car when I was just a little kid...never knew it was by Foo Fighters though.
Rip HAWKINS,
May your flight to the next life be as smooth as the melodies you helped craft.
This song is still a good tune. I haven't heard any other song from this band but this is my favorite song from the Foo Fighters.
