Love the chemistry between these two. Honestly think Ina sees something beyond special in this guy. And Arthur, you were not treated on the same line as the rest of the finalists by The Voice Norway, but you still made it to the final! That’s something to take in. I was hoping for Lavrans, but man did i feel for you. Hope to see great things from you in the future!

Woah! Great performance! While “country” music isn’t what my ears appreciate most, ANY song, well performed, has my attention
( Ina, I’d love to hear your version of D.Pardon’s “Jolene “! That song, written & performed in the 70’s, slowed down, & brought into 2024, w/ percussion change, would sound new to some, & with the instrument you have; that’s all it would take to be a Billboard Top 100 #1 hit !(sans “gate-keepers”

I love how these non english speaking countries always resort to pop culture music from North America. Shows how much influence there is in the west.

Country music is popular in Norway. Norwegians listens more to country music than the rest of the Nordic countries and there are several good explanations for why country is particularly strong in Norway.
      - Norway has historically been closer to the United States than our neighboring countries. Country music therefore gained a foothold in Norway, very early on. This is perhaps mainly due to two factors; emigration and seafaring.
800,000 Norwegians left their homeland and emigrated in the period 1830 to 1920. Most of them ended up in America. This helped to create the strong ties between Norway and the USA.
Something like half of Norway's population traveled to the States. It affects the relationship with America, and American culture.
1 of 5 Norwegians listens to country music, so it isnt that weird those who sing country have adapted the accent. I dont get why some Americans are so sensitive to people from other countries talking or singing in American accents? I’ve seen people complain qbout it several times before. If a foreigner sang Norwegian and in a dialect, I would be impressed..
English is seen by many as the mother tongue of pop music. In Norway (probably in other countries too) artists have felt a strong sense of belonging to a youth culture that has been permeated by English-speaking role models and idols. Influence from music lyrics, films/series, advertising, magazines, newspapers and the increasing use of the Internet and English-language computer games.
Many Norwegian artists choose to sing in English, partly because they want to break through internationally and want to appeal to a larger audience and to have an opportunity to make a living from music. You don't sell records in USA, England, Asia, Germany, Spain, France, Italy etc if you sing in Norwegian. English is also perceived by many as an easier language to both sing and write songs in. It sounds and flows better. It seems to be a more vowel-based, less consonant-based language than Norwegian and when you write texts about love and strong personal feelings, it is more difficult to expose yourself and your feelings in Norwegian.
The position English has as a world language makes it advantageous to choose English when writing songs that as many people as possible will understand. As a bonus, one can in theory address billions, not just roughly 5 million Norwegians.
