The $580 difference is the Bi-directional control. Apples to oranges buddy. The $20 reader is just a reader, the Autel is a diagnostic tool. The $20 reader is what I would give to one of my customers if there was an intermittent issue, they can scan and record the code for me. I would throw that one in my wife or kids car. My Autel used to travel everywhere I went, now I use an Otofix D1. Much cheaper to own with most of the same control.

The autel is not just a reader it will actually tell you how to fix the problem

But you can also buy a sub 200 xtool scanner which also has bidirectional function… I have xtool and autel and both have bidirectional functions and read bcm pretty well

I got that timu scanning tool and it's not picking up two issues that I have come up on my dash. I would say it is a bit of a hit and miss with that one. You may get lucky and it will work for you, it's not working on my car though.

I want to buy an expensive Autel tester to get rid of my Autel md808pro.
The reason i want a new one is because the one i have doesn't support anything in almost every car i tried it. It says it can do a lot, but it never supports any car.
Is this different with the special features?

It’s more your car not supporting the obd2 reader. may have to into an more expensive one or a oem options if there are any

Very few programmers/diagnostic readers cover all vehicles

It says no codes stored in the module does it mean it’s working or my car is fine

I have the same issue. I have a warning on my dash but that cheap scanning tool not picking up anything. I get same message that no codes stored in the module. There could be some other function that you can adjust but I watched instructions video by provider and it should just tell you what the issue is. If you got your one to work, I would like to get some tips. Thinking on spending a bit more cash and get something a bit more reliable.

I have a E46 320d. The OBD “Carly” shows me 7 codes, and 4 of them are important ones like airbag…But this piece of shit only shows me 2 and there are not even important(just shows a/c blower). Imagine going to buy a car and look after fault codes with Temu’s obd… I would buy a car with 0 faulty codes but in reality it has hard ones. Wasted money

Autel 100% wins in my books as its capable of doing so much more than some cheap reader. You get what you pay for.

Depends on what the device is programmed to, all you need is a better program in the cheaper device
