Love this idea!! So can you paint this without taking it apart? Also do you put a finish on it after the paint is dry?

Yes! You could do this without deconstructing it. Just use something to protect your pages (such as deli, tracing, or parchment paper).
I personally don't put any finish on it - but you could use a spray fixative if you wanted to. If I had used something like oil pastels I would want to put a fixative on it. Hopefully that helps!
