Only shortcoming is I should have elevated the heaters to get rid of the last of the hum, and there's not a lot of gain on the line out, only being 1 gain stage and a cathode follower before it. But this is about all the time we could spend on it at the moment and the customer is happy.
@@PsionicAudio @Brad’s Guitar Garage. Too bad to hear this as they sound pretty good for bedroom amps. I was considering doing some major longevity upgrades including transformers and caps etc. but this comment has me second guessing that because I respect “ya’lls” knowledge. I have some rattling issues. I suspect it’s that rat contraption of a power tube retainer. 🤷♂️. The thing that bothers me most is that the pots rattle because they are through the control plate and not “nutted”. (How dumb and cheap). My question: Is it possible to replace the pots with standard threaded pots and just wire to the pcb? I assume yes unless it’s a clearance issue….🙄🙄🙄
Nice mod, I was wondering at first what the reason would be for that peamp business, but sure works great as you've shown..Great instruction as you go along with the repairs etc..Learning all the time between the comedy, which by the way has me in stitches..! Great vids..Thanks for sharing your knowedge..Ed..UK..😃
"No one else on RUclips is stupid enough to do that." lol You da man! No offense, just had to. I thought it was a cool project. Hope you don't me asking but, since you're working on a small amp, what about the Marshall Stage 5? Was it decent? The fact that it's not around anymore may be the answer but, neither are some others.
Exactly about the speaker! Throw that 'boxy' piece of junk out, everybody should just turf those who buys these amplifiers. It's quite simple and not that expensive to do to bring the life out of the amp. Night and Day difference. I put G12 Celestion's in my DeVille 212, and Wow! The biggest improvement you can make. My local 'authorized' Fender tech, told me those speakers are actually made in China, but still get badged with 'Made in the USA'.
More thought and design went into this repair than ever went into the factory amp.

@@BradsGuitarGarage there’s only so much you should do with a PJ. They are pretty much toys.
Agreed 100%.

Great job, like the classic "Rolling Stones" sound.
Great video as always. A very elegant line out if I must say so myself.
Wow you can polish a turd ; ) Good work Brad.
I plug my pro jr into a G12 65 and it blows me away how dynamic it is
Ok I got a question, if I was to install the wrong fuse like a 2amp instead of a 3amp would it work?
Hey - you rebiased your beard! Nice mod and insights technically.
Yeah, it was itchy and made me feel like a hobo.
Not that there's anything wrong with hobos.
Interesting. Did you change the speaker, and if so, to what?
Nope.
But if I did, my go-to would be a WGS ET10.
I have a 1993 Fender Pro Junior with No speaker out jack. Can it be modified to use with a Power Soak?
Can't see why not. You wouldn't need to modify the amp, just put it between the speaker and amp speaker output jack.
Just wondering... how do divide 8.9 watts by 12 and get 75 watts?
I mis-spoke. I meant 75%.
Sounds like another episode of F*ck Fender
Nah, we massaged Fender's feet in this one.
Not going to say it didn't get a little weird.
Especially with no champagne first.

Never seen one, so either they're great or there's none local.
