I get where he’s coming from, but she doesn’t need much character development because that all happens in 06 and since she was portrayed as a man in zero she had less character( also about the fact that the other servants were beating her down or something, she was I think like the first female servant or something)
The way I got into Fate was watching Zero, then Blade Works, then giving in and reading the visual novel. This was an alright-ish way of getting into it. Zero is a fine starting point for the series. It stands on its own, shows off the strengths of the series, and doesn't spoil *too* much of Stay Night. I still wish I had started with the visual novel, or at least read it before any of its adaptations. The visual novel is the intended entry point for the series, and everything else kind of assumes you've already read it. It has adaptations, but they're incomplete and have issues. DEEN Stay Night is obviously notorious, but even the Ufotable adaptations run into inevitable issues in adapting it. First is the issue of the VN being long and the fact that you'll inevitably have to cut stuff out to make it fit the run time they're going for, which can leave stuff feeling underexplained or confusing. Second is that it cuts out all the many dead ends where the protagonist dies horribly because you made the wrong choice, which makes him feel kind of invincible as the VN relies on these to add the sense of danger that would usually be achieved by killing off a red shirt or something. Third is that it cuts out the protagonist's internal monologue, which is where most of his characterization happens, leaving him a lot more one-dimensional feeling (some anime watchers straight up hate him, which is something I haven't seen from visual novel readers). Some people say it's too much of an investment, which I can kind of see, but really it's a picture book with music, it isn't exactly heavy reading. And while it is long, it's split up into three separate stories, which are each of a more reasonable length individually. Skim the cooking scenes and turn the voices off and you'll breeze through it.
Oddly enough that can be remedy by watching the other anime adaptations of fate stay night even the magical girl spin off Oath undersnow had no reason to be as good as it should of been

I know this comment is way past the date of reading, but you should check out Kara no Kyoukai whenever you can. One of Ufotable's first works, and possibly the work that put them on the map. The characters are strange, confusing, but compelling. The story is strange, confusing, but compelling. The music and artstyle are masterpieces - it aired in 2007, but it would put a bunch of modern anime to shame with its art direction and technical style. Episode three has this POV shot where you're watching a lunging lady thrust a dagger at you but it's just... Magnificently done.

If you still want to know: 1. Deen Fate (optional can skip cause it is not really up to bar) 2. Fate UBW. 3. Fate HF. 4. @@anhdinhlamduc5700 ^What this guy said. It's literally the best order possible, aka the one of the original material. Starting from UBW is possibly the best choice, the Studio Deen anime is really bad for a newcomer.
Here's the watch order I was originally recommended, and definitely agree with: for Fate/stay night (the main story of the franchise) start at the beginning with Fate/zero, - fate/ zero (2011) - fate/ stay night (2006) - fate/ stay night - unlimited blade works (2010) - fate/ stay night - unlimited blade works (2014) - fate/ stay night - heaven's feel 1 (2017) - fate/ stay night - heaven's feel 2 (2019) for multiverse (these are all unrelated spin-offs, you can watch in any order), - fate/ apocrypha (2017) - fate/ kaleid linear prisma illya 4 series and 1 movie - fate/ extra - last encore (2018) for FGO, - fate/ grand order - first order (2016) - fate/ grand order - moonlight lostroom (2017) - fate/ grand order - sacred round table realm camelot - wandering; agateram (2020) - fate/ grand order - sacred round table realm camelot - paladin; agateram (TBA) - fate/ grand order - absolute demonic front babylonia (2019)
@@thenew4559 Starting with Zero Is absolutely wrong nowadays. It's a prequel, it spoils tons of things that are supposed to be a mistery or at least vague in nature in both UBW and Heaven's Feel. Deen's F/SN adaptation is also good to start with. I'll fight anyone who say its trash cause I'm positive most people who say that are those that haven't read the VN
Issue is that it has a super slow burn. I think this video is wrong about zero needing the entire firsr half to get good, because I was hooked from episode 3 onwards. But Stay Night 06, despite being good, literally takes half of it's runtime to get started.
Both the Deen adaptations were trash, especially their UBW adaptation. I'll be fair about their 2006 SN adaptation and say it wasn't really their fault because that route sucks in the VN too, but their UBW Adaptation was irredeemable there's a reason nobody even acknowledges it exists. They tried to fit the whole route into a 90 minute movie there was no way that was ever going to be good, the UFOTable HF adaptation was 3 movies and still cut out so much important stuff that it felt a bit disjointed or especially towards the end and had to be carried by the flashy fight scenes and Deen tried to fit UBW into just ONE movie.
Not really imo i tried getting after going through the persona games. I reluctantly tried out the smt games since it was apparently a sin not to, and was kinda disappointed, Nocturne and DDS are the only ones that I really liked tbh and still not to the extent of the persona games. SMT1 was ok but i feel like i would like it a lot more if it was remade. I also tried SMT if but i kinda got bored and dropped it, the almost identical layout to SMT1 put me off. I just couldn't really get into DeSu1 because it didnt appeal to me that much same with raidou vs the soulless army. SMT4 looks interesting but getting over the bad looking UI is really tough. I absolutely love the music for SJ and I've been thinking of trying it out for a while but not sure yet. My main gripe is with random encounters and just being so outdated that i find it hard to enjoy (the snes games). Tbh i already knew the smt games wouldnt be my cup of tea but "you're only allowed to say you don't like it after you've tried it".
@@alphax-shroom6781 imo you can start with whatever game you want. I like all the persona games equally except p1 since the dungeons can be annoying and just look kinda ugly

"I Hate Saber" Me: Oh shit here we go again Fun fact about Fate: Zero... They completely get Saber's character so wrong Nasu himself doesn't consider it canon. While I don't necessarily agree with this idea Zero does get her character very very wrong and if there was a GOOD version of the Fate route I could show you what I'm talking about. It boils down to how she goes about the king's party in Zero and how she talks with her master. While both are accurate they are also heavily inaccurate on her reactions. I'm no good exactly explaining it(If this was Mordred Saber I could tell you better but alas this is Artoria Saber) so I'll leave it at this.
I think another reason why Zero portrayed her like that is too highlight Kiritsugu's actions as necessary (and well not evil by making Saber look naive) and also to highlight king Alexander. Alexander needed to look wise in the ways of the king, so what is an easy way to do so? By making another king character look bad. Unfortunately it seems they forgot that King Arthur in the Nasuverse is supposed to be an ideal king. Heck, I love Saber since the Deen adaptation, but when I watched Zero and its narrative made it look like she was naive compared to Alexander and Kiritsugu, I thought, " yeah they are right". But then later on after seeing some youtube scenes, it was when it hit me, Zero did not try to make them look as just right and their conversations with Saber are more deeper than that but the way they did it with their transition it fails to give such message to the audience thus it becomes the kind interaction that have to be seen again isolated in short clips (which means their narrative is too focus in making the audience like Kiritsugu and Alexander's views by making another character look bad in order to not seem bad). Well that is my opinion.
> They completely get Saber's character so wrong Nasu himself doesn't consider it canon. Nasu himself supervised the damn Fate/Zero LN, why the fuck would he not consider it canon?
Queen Bitch KaNoMiko The biggest reason is because in the original visual novel Saber is said to have completely dominated the 4th War which isn’t the case with Fate Zero. There are also other differences like Saber’s characterization as others have said that don’t agree with what’s shown in Zero
The issue is that the zero-anime is very much canon to stay night ubw anime and the heavens feel-movie trilogy. And those are what most people will watch.
@@lpfan4491 Unfortunately true yeah, and I do get not wanting to read the visual novel unless you have hours among hours of spare time it's likely not happening.
Never thought I'd see someone hate on the literal fucking face of the Nasuverse (sorry Arc) Saber is an amazing character and undoubtedly best girl IN all of the fate series The only problem i have is her characterization in zero in contrast to stay night
@@maka8551>sometimes these anime RUclipsrs or even RUclipsrs in general are all the same, spewing the same drivel over and over with nothing of substance
This is the correct watch order for Fate. Do NOT start with zero 1- Fate Stay Night (2006) 2-Fate Stay Night UBW ( the series not the movie ) 3-Fate Stay Night Heavens Feel (which is divided into three movies) 4-Fate Zero After that come the spin offs . The prequel Fate Zero was not written by the original creator of Fate Nasu instead it was written by another author in 2010 when the original VN fate is based on was written in 2004 . Hence why there’s such a big difference in themes and the overall mood in between them , Zero should be left for last BECAUSE even though it was written as a prequel it was written much later after the original VN comes out and it was just meant to add more context to the story it expects you to have already watched all the other adaptations for things to make sense . Many people will say to not watch FSN (2006) because it’s “ bad “ but then you ask them why they say that and they have no idea . FSN (2006) ( Sabers route ) was the first anime adaptation done for the franchise and what kickstarted it all since it was actually really popular in Japan it’s not a perfect adaptation but the only things it has its that it has a couple scenes from the other routes which was common practice back then since VN adaptations were given elements from multiple routes to give watchers a taste of all the routes and the animation but for a 2006 show it looks pretty damn good , people that skip this won’t get to see a third of the story given that this is the only adaptation of the saber route . UBW ( Rins Route ) and the Heavens Feel movie trilogy can be watched after since it’s just alternate timelines where Shirou ends up with them respectively as love interest . After watching all three then you can watch Zero to add extra context and fill in any gaps you might have . As far as spin offs most of them you can watch without any worry . Although if you watch Carnival Phantasm without playing Tsukihime ( another type moon ( the company that published the Fate VN ) work ) it won’t make much sense . And if you watch Ylia without playing the sequel VN Hollow Ataraxia you won’t understand some characters . The rest take place in alternate timelines that are not related to our main cast . Honestly it does matter how you watch it since it drastically changes the viewing experience is you have any questions feel free to let me know hope this provided some context .
I mind, it's great you liked it, but the first half of fate zero is amazing in every way. I remember watching that first half and just loving it, even more than the second half, which as a whole ties everything together very nicely, but it does have some filler.
this is the reason you shouldn't start with F/Z, it give you a totally different tone and bash a Character like Saber, cause the show assume you already know her or at least familiar to what kind of character she is. I like F/Z, it great thriller/Action show but damn, this show make fans that "ONLY" like F/Z to death and dismiss the rest of the franchise like an old veteran that miss the time he could pop heads like a balloon with his slingshot. F/Z did it jobs as a Prequel, and it should be treated as such.
@@brianpena7274 if you don't like reading the VN, try the 2006 anime, but if you can't stand old visual, then the 2014 UBW anime the former being the actual start while the latter serve as a decent start

The best ways to get into Fate is either read the VN, watch the 2006 anime, or UBW(2016). Zero isn't the place to start pretty much for the same reason why with something like Star Wars you start with Episode 4 and not Episode 1. In Star Wars, if you start with the Prequels you'll lose any of the tension you were suppose to feel from watching the Original Trilogy first. It's the same thing with Stay/Night and Zero. Zero was made with the assumption that you, the audience member, either read the VN or watched the 2006 Fate Stay/Night.
milchi Animation I started slow from 2006 first fate route from deen but I stopped watching half way then came back to it and finished it. Then I watched fate zero which is the sequel to the main fate routes and that was very good because I understood the references and interested in how it started then I saw the second route: UBW which is the route which started it all , on how fate is by miles my favourite anime to the plot to the soundtracks.

Oddly enough that can be remedy by watching the other anime adaptations of fate stay night even the magical girl spin off

@Fred Duwe I agree completely. It is hands down my favorite anime. From story to music to characters to technical art style to creative art style. But I understand some people dislike its nonchronological and sometimes confusing story.

If you still want to know:
1. Deen Fate (optional can skip cause it is not really up to bar)
2. Fate UBW.
3. Fate HF.
4. Fate Zero (it have a different tone and stuff compare to the rest so i think it is better to watch latter so you don't have a fail impression about what Fate is about).
5. Just watch whatever you like (they are spin off).

- fate/ stay night - unlimited blade works (2014)
- fate/ stay night - heaven's feel 1 (2017)
- fate/ stay night - heaven's feel 2 (2019)
for multiverse (these are all unrelated spin-offs, you can watch in any order),
- fate/ apocrypha (2017)
- fate/ kaleid linear prisma illya 4 series and 1 movie
- fate/ extra - last encore (2018)
for FGO,
- fate/ grand order - first order (2016)
- fate/ grand order - moonlight lostroom (2017)
- fate/ grand order - sacred round table realm camelot - wandering; agateram (2020)
- fate/ grand order - sacred round table realm camelot - paladin; agateram (TBA)
- fate/ grand order - absolute demonic front babylonia (2019)

Not starting the Fate series with the VN is an heresy that can be compared to not starting the Persona series with Shin Megami Tensei.
Hear hear
You mean not starting with P3 right?

"I Hate Saber"
Me: Oh shit here we go again
Fun fact about Fate: Zero...
@@lpfan4491 Unfortunately true yeah, and I do get not wanting to read the visual novel unless you have hours among hours of spare time it's likely not happening.

these anime RUclipsrs or even RUclipsrs in general are all the same, spewing the same drivel over and over with nothing of substance
This is the correct watch order for Fate. Do NOT start with zero
1- Fate Stay Night (2006)
2-Fate Stay Night UBW ( the series not the movie )
3-Fate Stay Night Heavens Feel (which is divided into three movies)
4-Fate Zero
After that come the spin offs .
Wow, you are so good at making videos. It's unreal how informative and yet entertaining they ALL are.
