Surprisingly, Parasyte was the first anime I ever watched considering how underrated it was at the time. It got interested in Berserk and then I started watching anything I could find interesting. Great list 10/10!
Tbh, watching too good a show early on like brotherhood as one of your first can lead to the trouble of finding "another one like it", which is a pretty painful experience of having high expectations now
Berserk is an absolute masterpiece and one of my all time favorites. That being said it is not a show for everyone, and I don't really agree with it being put in a beginner's anime list. "...and theres scenes guaranteed to give me chills to this day..." (1:57) That one little snippet gave me chills; Hunter x Hunter is a next level shounen, in my book its pretty much art. Definitely a must watch
I don't wanna sound weird but I rewatched the whole show three times so far and I honestly cry every single time on that specific scene. This is coming from a grown ass man who fought in a war.
Berserker 135 is the saddest anime episode I’ve ever watched, I didn’t cry while watching it but it made me cry like a bitch the next few days whenever I thought about it lol (I finished it a week ago btw)
Watching HxH first will raise your standarts so high lots of shows will end up disappointing you. Had the same thing happen to me after watching FMA:B.
You guys need to stop hyping up shows like this. I went into Hunter x Hunter with super high expectations based on what I heard, but finished it being extremely underwhelmed. I thought it was going to be way more dark and profound than it actually ended up being. It's not the shows fault though. It's the fanbases fault.
@@nahfam9716 I didn't, but then again I went in with different expectations. I thought the fans were just hyping it up for no reason and that it'd end up being nowhere near as good as people claimed it was. It exceeded almost all of my expectations and the chimera ant arc just completely blew me away. But yeah, over-hyping something can easily lead to disappointment. A bit off-topic, but its probably one of the main reasons Valve refuses to make Half Life 3, since they probably couldn't make anything that would live up to the abnormally high expectations.

@@sirtetris i think you need to watch at least SOME of the mainstream shounen anime before hxh. HxH plays your expectations on what's to come. Berserk Movie Trilogy: cuts out entire battles and important speeches/flashbacks Scamboli: yeah it's missing a few details Don't get me wrong though, I like the video.
Completely agreed. The 1998 anime is completely worth watching several more hours of material, the movie trilogy simply skips over too much important stuff and rushes through what little they do include.
That's anime dog. If you want the whole shebang, read the manga. If you don't read manga like most people and wanna experience the story in around 4 and half hours, watch the movie.
@@ScamboliReviews , the original series is definitely superior enough in quality and storytelling to the movie trilogy to warrant spending the extra time. I don't think anybody who has seen both would say that watching the extra few hours worth of content was not worth it. It is definitely worth it, as it is a lot more enjoyable and tells the story better. The manga is indeed the best, but if you insist on experiencing the anime version watch the 1997 series first.
I always will recommend the anime to people I know won't be bothered by the old style or can handle watching a show for an extended period of time i.e actual anime fans but the movies are great for the casual viewer. I will say though that the one thing the movie did better was connect the story better to the next arc, cause in the original we all know that massive cliffhanger right at the end of the eclipse was probably excruciating for anime only fans back then lol but at least the movies show how they escaped.
Mob Psycho is definitely great no matter when you watch it although I feel like it’s a great refresher for people who are tired of the constant seasonal garbage that makes up the majority of current shows. I know it sure felt like a great breath of fresh air to me.

But what really made me into anime as a whole altogether was Cowboy Bebop, then the rest was history, now I have seen a lot of different anime that varies within eras or genres and one's others barely know about or heard of at all due to them being super underrated or as I called them hidden gems.
Since I'm already here commenting for the RUclips algorithm I wanna recommend you *_Hinamatsuri_* . It's also a comedy/slice of life show that doesn't follow the usual Anime "comedy" mold. It's a hidden gem
@@ScamboliReviews Yeah Hinamatsuri is actually among the few anime shows that actually seem to understand humor. It's not squeezing you for laughter, but it stays consistently entertaining and/or wholesome. I absolutely love the atmosphere of the ‘97 Berserk anime. The soundtrack, the gorgeous backgrounds and everything being in 2D are all really important to me. Although, I watched that ~7 hour and 50 supercut here on youtube which injects movie scenes into the show and absolutely loved it. It was my second ever viewing and man Berserk has quickly become one of my favorite pieces of media, period.
This is a great list, btw. And you make a great point about berserk. A lot about anime and it’s community had always made me feel a bit alienated. Berserk seems to be just a damn good character-driven, gory, romantic, dark fantasy drama that happened to have been made in Japan. I mean to say I didn’t feel a lot of anime tropes were being thrown at me left and right which was much appreciated.
Pro tip for newcomers: If you find a highly recommended anime and it's produced by one of these following studios, watch it. 1. Madhouse. 2. Bones. 3. UFOtable. 4. Trigger. 5. White Fox.

as a light anime watcher: I just finished HxH and had the same intial kiddy show, I was wrong; it's definitely goated but not my favourite but top 10, or top 5. I was intially bored at the start but looked it up and was told it starts slow and doesn't necessarily become the HxH its renowed for until episode 27 or 37, where the story arc changes. PERFECT ANIME for newcomers though! As someone said in the comments, a great recommendation for newcomers and an anime in my top 3: Code Geass! watch it
I've seen so many recommendation videos and this is the first one where I actually agree with them. Not that they're the best but that a newcomer could enjoy them and the average "anime" tone doesn't stand out too much
Hunter x Hunter is amazing for anyone, not only for people who just start watching anime but also for people who watched anime for years, even though it’s pretty old.... I think it’s the best anime so far... The story is touching and the characters are very diffrent from other animes, like the names... Most animes always have a “Haru” or something like that in it, but these names are so different and the characters too, that’s why I watched this hours without eating anything and without even sleeping... The opening is so good, I swear SO good, and it never really changes! So watch it okie?
Some of these background songs got me wasting half my afternoon replaying a three second snippet. Chief, what's the name of the song in 0:08 - 0:12 . You're too kind.
Naoki Urasawa's Monster is probably the one anime I recommend to people who generally don't think they like anime since it's mainly psychological horror and not super powered people hitting each other. A early anime often overlooked is Future Boy Conan, which apparently is Hayao Miyazaki's directorial debut. Dr. Slump is another favorite of mine, though I can only really speak about the manga since not much the movies or series has been translated for English audiences.
“ cause I thought it was a kid anime.” Me too! I was going to watch it, because the first episode is so kiddie, and my mom doesn’t like the adult stuff. It did get deeper, but I didn’t see how gruesome it was ‘till the phantom troop.
Have you read the Gantz manga? The anime isn't really worth watching and only covers a bit of the entire story, but the manga is great for anybody who likes extreme violence in their stories.
Nnh, that intro. My boy. My absolute boy. I love you. I also think Parasyte is top-tier and under rated, and I'm pretty sure my friends refuse to watch it despite my basically begging them to do so. And they're weebs.

HxH is good but it became better when they introduced Nen and afterwards it's just keeps getting better and darker with the Phantom Troupe arc and some light moments and fun in Greed Island arc and finally the greatest arc in the show Chimera ant arc (the darkest arc of the anime). HxH may be a kids show to you when you first watched the first 30 episodes or so but after that the entire story shifts from a sunshiny kids show to a more darker and gory piece of art. Don't get me wrong though, I like the video.
Completely agreed. The 1998 anime is completely worth watching several more hours of material, the movie trilogy simply skips over too much important stuff and rushes through what little they do include.
The best thing to come out of the movie trilogy was My Brother, the CG may have looked like it was running on a shitty PC but god damn the OST

PERFECT ANIME for newcomers though!
As someone said in the comments, a great recommendation for newcomers and an anime in my top 3: Code Geass! watch it
HxH latest chapters are godlike.
@@AndrewManook lol, what latest chapters? Its been two years
top 5 scamboli videos for newcomers
You have great taste I have already watched hxh and konosuba so I will try the rest of this list!
Mob psycho 100 is my absolute favorite anime second being hunter hunter
My cousin showed me attack on titan like 4 years ago, but I thought it was too scary but then ended up loving anime
RIP Miura fucking legend
The freaking zelda music in the background lmao! Nice vid man👍
I've seen so many recommendation videos and this is the first one where I actually agree with them.
If hunter x hunter is in this list the rest must be great
Some of these background songs got me wasting half my afternoon replaying a three second snippet. Chief, what's the name of the song in 0:08 - 0:12 . You're too kind.
Its the first Naruto ed song, Wind by Akeboshi
@@ahadabdul8903 Thanks my guy. I knew I heard it before but I forgot this classic existed.
"Kazuma struck by a Truck."
Nice choice of words, keeping the tension and all. Nice Job (No Sarcasm here)
“ cause I thought it was a kid anime.” Me too! I was going to watch it, because the first episode is so kiddie, and my mom doesn’t like the adult stuff. It did get deeper, but I didn’t see how gruesome it was ‘till the phantom troop.
The first anime I watched is Elfen Lied. Now i can't get enough of gory anime.
Same that shit fucked me up so much i ended up just watching ecchi after that
Man that show sucked
@@BigZaeon true it sucked but I like to see the anime as a toddlers first dark anime, that gets worse the older you get.
@@admirewather1174 that was ninja scroll for me
Have you read the Gantz manga? The anime isn't really worth watching and only covers a bit of the entire story, but the manga is great for anybody who likes extreme violence in their stories.
I literally just now finished re zero and I highly recommend
Nnh, that intro. My boy. My absolute boy. I love you.
I also think Parasyte is top-tier and under rated, and I'm pretty sure my friends refuse to watch it despite my basically begging them to do so. And they're weebs.
parasyte was the anime that really got me into anime, like yeah naruto, dragon ball, one piece etc. i liked since 6th grade and caught up with but when i saw parasyte i was like whoa there is something here, along with it being an example of one of the best character developments ever.
Glad to see Re:Zero getting some attention, Parasyte too. From what I’ve heard Re:Zero 2; rumored to be dropping early-mid 2020, is going to be much more brutal than season one and that shit has me hyped.
I’d have thrown in FMA:B aswell, because that shit changed my view on life. But I’m honestly just commenting to boost engagement. Fire ass list Scamdaddy, I enjoyed the manga one you did a while back too
Thanks :) if I ever do another one of these, FMA:B is going on it for sure, that shit slaps
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is also a good one, despite what people say
I haven't seen him talk about it on the channel yet so idk if he likes it
It’s absolutely amazing but not as a first anime imo.
@@kornilious you need to be eased into it
Kornilious jojo’s was my first anime (other than like pokemon) that I watched and it’s amazing, but it was really hard to for me to get into other anime after it
@@katsuraenjoyer3105 yea I get that you kinda just have to suffer through the bad shit
6:38 I haven't watched mob psycho but that looks like a JoJo's reference
It is
some of the jojo va’s voice in mob too lmao
"For a while I believed that anime writers could not be funny..."
*please say Konosuba please say Konosuba please say Konosuba*
"...that is, until I gave Konosuba a chance."
HE SAID KONOSUBA!!!!
I love your channel, dude. Keep making videos and I'll keep sharing them!
