The charging issue was the first thing I thought of. I'm sure someone will build a solution solution likeable a charging case. Cool LITTLE gadget, thanks for the review.
Great idea, but do feel like the pass-thru is a massive oversight, especially for the types of jobs I am handed blackout on. Delighted to see some innovation in the space though, and the hardline connection is ideal. Hopefully they or a third party have a dongle in the works with a 90 degree usbc connector that could connect to the back of the iPad and well-placed charging port built in (if I’m being greedy some form of mag-safe style power connector where I can walk away from the charging position in a rush and not forget to unplug the charger….). Maybe there is even space for Blackout iPad cases with built in battery and some additional connectors if you’re looking to branch into hardware Jeff! 😉
It's funny to hear how many different ways people pronounce Maccam. It's a shame that this thing has come out so many years in to the wireless transmitter market at this price point. I would have loved to see the other transmitter manufacturers have to get clever to compete with a product like this two years ago at this price point. I think it's a neat idea but lacking a way to do power passthrough and a way to reinforce the USB-C connection seem like design flaws. I would love to see something like this designed alongside an iPad cage so that you can build some mechanical reinforcements into the USB-C connection attached to the cage so that a bump of the transmitter doesn't knock it out of the port accidentally.
Skycast direct into the iPad, iPad connected to Magic Keyboard, USB-C power into the Magic Keyboard. That’s been my “pass through” solution, albeit an expensive one. Everything stays mobile since you can Velcro a battery pack to the back of the keyboard. I already had the Keyboard, but I can understand a $300-ish solution isn’t ideal…
So cool! Do they have any solution in house for multiple universes? Can you link multiple together? With a splitter can you get DMX hardwire output through USB C or is it only for the network connection?
It shows up as a network device so I’m pretty sure you could put several of these in a splitter and it would work but that would be an even bigger dongle mess to deal with I think. But yea it’s hardwired DMX to this device via sACN/artnet. Pretty neat.
Again, product design by dumb engineer. That is sooooo obvious that this hit should have USB port to power it on, that I would think about that at first if I would be hired to design that product, I would think about that during my first poo before even start design that product. I don't understan these days. Humanity biuld rocket to go for Mars and at the same time built hit that has no power socket...what a brain nightmare !

Hey Jeff! You gonna review the cerise transmitters soon?

Omg I want to try this!

Love it!
Fun 💡
brilliant
Hi, what about the transmission range please?

I wonder if having too many of them placed too close together would cause interference and reduce range.
Wala!
