Imagine living in Andrew's street and every other day there's a bunch of lights being set up and Andrew has the street shut down so he can do his light readings and tests. Keep em' coming Andrew
Tip for reducing risk of hitting the reset: pop a webcam privacy cover over it. That way you can clip it shut and reduce the risk of accidental resets. It's working around a bit of a design flaw, but it's an inexpensive and non-obtrusive workaround.
Great in depth video as usual. Godox is coming for the gaffer market, great! For powering with USB, anker powerbanks have a low power mode by clicking the button twice and a green light comes on so it won't go to sleep.
Great video! Thanks for posting. I was trying to figure out exactly what these things do. I wanted to control my Knowled lights with my phone easier. They will not work with my setup. I couldn't seem to get a strait answer from Godox. You explained it better than they did.
I just bought 2 rx units for testing on aliexpress for under 150€/unit, if they work well i will probably get a bunch more, the price cant be beat, and it has a genuine lumenradio crmx Chip inside (met someone who opened his version).
There might be an obvious answer to this question but couldn't find anything online: Would the TimoLink RX work with the Amaran F21c / F22c etc in combination with their DMX to USB-C cables? Likewise is there a difference between the Amaran DMX to USB-C cables and the Nanlux ones?
@@simvid8107 the XLR 5 pin connection on those adaptors will take the DMX signal into the light regardless of whether it originated from a wireless or hard wired source. However, if the adapters don't have a USB port on the receiver side you may need a small battery to power the receiver.
I still dont understand much about DMX but do you feel like a gaffers control like your exalux is better than having an ipad with blackout app for example? (Dunno if they can be compared) These seem like a great way of getting into DMX without spending too much
Comes down to the work you do. The all in one controller is good for small shoots. But the iPad gives way more options and has 16bit control giving you more colours in modes like HSI
Yes I would like to know about this. MC Pros are normally 20-30 dollars more expensive, plus the cable adapter, but having battery and use it also as a light when needed, so be glad to hear Andrews thoughts in comparison @@NKRDBL

For 1/2 the price, people will definitely look past this flaw.
@@gaffergearDefinitely. It's a minor and relatively easy problem for users to resolve themselves.

Great to know. This has actually been a big problem for me, not just receivers but small pocket lights running dimmed.
@@gaffergear I'm sure if you search for anker low power mode, a couple of shorts will show you better than my words could.
Thanks ive had the same problem. I use gopro batteries and they work great but would be nice to have something that I dont have to engineer.
Thank you for doing this review !
Thnk you Andrew! Super informative as usual! I will def get a few of these!

Will have to pick some of these up!
Unless you can recommend something better at that price point 😉
After the review I purchased another 4.
@@gaffergearbut how it compared to aputure mc pro? Mc pro is weather proof and have built in battery and you can configure it both ways (rx/tx)

As i know the new dynacore battery need to hold that button for 3s for power up usb and dtap output port
Thanks Andrew! Can the timolink TX also send to other CRMX fixtures?
Yes, CRMX is standardised
Im trying to connect my timolink TX with my pavotubes XR but GODOX dont provide any instructions how to connect with non godox gear. @@gaffergear
@@kitwebster8549 you need to unlink the light then hit the button on the TX to link
The Housing seems so Big for a Reciever though... Especialy compared to my CINELEX SKYNODE. Im thinking about buying one just to look inside ;P
I suspect, by the shape of it, that they were originally going to put a battery into it.
Good point. Think ill geht one and see if I can 3DPrint a smaller housing, should be simple enough
Andrew, you had a video on your DMX kit, have you taken it down?
Episodes 66 74 184
i power cinelex skynodes with go pro batteries. You can just velcro them to the light.
How do you adapt the GoPro batteries to usb?
So, would you recommend?
Also, why are these CRMX units generally so expensive? Is it a patent thing?
I have no idea, these do have Lumenradio modules in them.
Can you share a link for those usb batteries? Or can anyone recommend the best/smallest anker powerbank to use?
I can't find them anymore
How many receivers can I add to a single transmitter?
Unlimited.
Godox continuing to be very disruptive. I thought these where brilliant and when I was testing them out
