During the late Middle Ages the seaside town of Scarborough, in Yorkshire, was an important venue for tradesmen from all over England. It was host to a huge 45-day trading event starting on 15 August, which was exceptionally long for a fair in those times. Merchants came to it from all areas of England, Norway, Denmark, the Baltic states, and the Byzantine Empire. Scarborough Fair originated from a royal charter granted by King Henry III of England on 22 January 1253.
This is the first time I even KNEW there was a "full version". I think this version is 4 times longer than the record I had heard and I am SO glad you picked the full version. PLUS you always have such great locations.

I think this is some of the loveliest harp playing I've heard from the five or so years I've been subscribed. Scarborough Faire is one of my favorite folk songs, and I first heard it from Celtic Woman's Greatest Journey tour, and again from A New Journey, with Haley Westenra. Thank you for bringing back memories of my high school years, when I was less troubled by chronic anxiety and was able to throw myself into pursuing music as a passion. I even did a semester of harp lessons to try the instrument out, but just like the piano, it was a bit much to keep track of two different clefs when playing up to eight separate notes. Flute was always my pride and joy anyway.

The last time I heard the full lyrics to this magical madrigal, was at school, way back in The medieval ages (1970's) I think it is nice to hear the whole story of the two lovers if you could call them that? Great job Girls, Loved the setting also. Being from Edinburgh in Scotland, we have a huge Castle right in the Center of Town, overlooking the city!! But it is nice to see a fairytale-style castle, which looks like a lovely place. Might have to visit there as I live in Illinois now!!
