This is very helpful QB. Been playing for 2 years and have 1700 battles so far and I have always been going to your channel to improve my game play and learn the mechanics of the game.
I've been playing tanks for 6 years now and I actually learned a lot in this video. I'm excited for this new series BB keep up the work. I love you and your channel.
played 20k games in mostly lights and mediums and never had any idea what horizontal stabilisation done. Doh! Just tried it out and made a huge difference, Thanks Quickybaby.
Really enjoyed this quick tutorial: clean and concise with great in game demonstrations. I am an old veteran WoT player who just recently got back into playing (the last time I played the french line was just introduced!). I am feeling a bit overwhelmed at the wealth of new tanks in game. Perhaps a quick and general overview of the tank lines (how they typically play, shared weak areas, etc.) and maybe even a general map change guide would be awesome! There have been so many changes over these past couple years and it's a chore to take the time to surf through patch change videos and notes. If made, those videos would be a wonderful addition to this series!
Even though I have been a UI attentive player for almost 30K battles, this guide still helped me tweak a couple of things. VERY nice QB - you are a true tanker's friend.
Been playing since beta, and I'm curious, what patch did that horizontal stabilizer option got implemented? Never knew that such an immensely helpful option was there
For ages, I've been trying to figure out how to add in those spotting circles on the mini map and recently learned that I need to shoot behind two covers instead of just one., both I've learned from you. Now I feel good enough to get back in my covenanter, thank you.
I really think you should cover fail lanes in one of these videos. Maybe with your amount of subs you can teach new players not to go places like Lakeville valley, north on paris or "medium" flank on westfield.
I've had some really fun games pushing Lakeville Valley in my T29... you just need the right tank for the job and not too much arty. The 'medium' flank on Westfield can also be useful when done right. You see QB going there in a number of his videos. North on Paris is pretty much the only place I can go when I end up on the map with my Scorpion, the little bugger just can't do the city fighting thing at all.
jigz 84 Thing is - you can't teach new player "how to wot" in 4 videos. You can't cover all the useful positions - but you can point out useless ones and tell people to avoid them.
Andrzej Bigos Frankly... you could make a 20 minute video PER MAP if you tried to explain all the intricacies... where to go in light/medium/heavy/TD/SPG for maximum effect, where to avoid if you have bad gun depression, where you can go hull-down or where you're arty safe, what routes not to go when you're in a slow fat heavy because the enemy will inevitably shoot you up, ...
This was very useful! I started playing World of Tanks few months ago and I have done some research about settings but this one really helped a lot more than the rest of them!
Having only dipped into WoT every now and then and being totally overwhelmed with all those options, that video is immensly useful. Will download WoT again and give it another try. Looking forward to more of your tanking guides!
Hey all potato pc users heads up! 16 and 25 times zoom lowers your framerate ALOT. I have a good constant 45-90 fps on wot but when in 25x I went as low as 17 fps!!!
Thanks for doing this QB. This series is going to be a great help to many of us. I certainly appreciate (and need) it. There's so much to lean when you start it's difficult to work out what helps and what makes things worse. I've been playing a while (still suck ;) but learnt more watching you explain the settings than I have the entire time I've been playing. Look forward to the next installments.
Server aim is what you're actually aiming at. In World of Tanks, all calculations regarding hitting, spotting and penetration and such are done server-side. This has one huge advantage: Cheating is much more difficult than it would be if done client-side (such as in Counter-Strike where wall hacks and whatnot are common). Yes there exist aimbots in WoT (don't use them!), but even those can only aim at tanks your team has actually spotted because the server doesn't tell your computer about the location of anyone else (unlike other games where headshots through a wall are not unheard of in multiplayer). Drawbacks include a bit extra input lag and sometimes where you're looking at and where the server thinks you're looking at can differ slightly. This is usually not relevant, but it can be sometimes when trying to hit a particularly fast scout tank.
Been playing for a couple of years now and I've completely missed some of these options! Really nice video for even someone who is experienced in Wot; great video.

As a new player, I found it quite useful to show enemy vehicles' tiers because I wasn't familiar enough with the game to be able to tell which tanks were which tiers. As a result, I could better judge whether or not to engage certain tanks directly.
Something that i've done which I found quite handy - and it saves me money - is I bound my number 6 key to the E key. This was AWESOME!!! Glad you are doing this Quicky.. wish more would to things like this!!
Also, for those who use the manual extiguisher having it as 6 and changing it to the SPACE BAR key, is really useful.
Thanks mate, I had a bit of a play with my settings, but used a few of your options, keep up the good work..
This is AWESOME! I really needed to watch this video, it has enlightened me to some game changing aspects of the settings tab. Thank you sooo much for making this vid, if you have more ideas for better game play/tactical performance please make another video on the subject.
