I just tried to order a pair on the Tolos website, but they only ship to the Unites States. I'm in Denmark😢 After days of searching the internet for the perfect barefoot shoe, I finally find it and I even get a discount code and then I get hit with massive letdown. God damnit! Guess ill have to wait till they start shipping to Denmark😭
I have the Tolos 1's. I have about 25-30 pairs of minimalist shoes I've had over the years and I have loved the Tolos. In particular, I wear them for work as a contractor ( As well as for strongman training) and have found these to be remarkably resilient. They clean up super well. I've worn them for all of my interior work, including plaster demo, framing, some painting, etc..I popped them in the washer and they look almost brand new. I've never had that in a minimalist shoe... Ever.
Appreciate all your reviews. I used your link for the discount on my first pair of barefoot shoes, and I honestly love them! Came back to the review cause I wasn’t sure what side of the insole goes under foot and couldn’t find any answers anywhere else, but your video answered that for me! So thanks again.
Finally got mine today and here’s my input. They are much easier to get on my high volume feet than the 1.0, but still a small struggle. They feel great but my biggest gripe is the width. Without socks they feel much better, but there just isn’t room for my pinky toes to spread out to their happy place. So far I’ve only tried them on and not trained or anything, haven’t decided if I’m keeping them. Also I got the all white model and the upper still looks slightly green or blue depending on the light. Was really hoping for the white balance issue to be fixed this time around as I noticed something similar when I tried on the 1.0.
@@thatfitfriend so far the best ones I’ve found are Vivo Addis (Soul of Africa) or just one model of the cheap Whitin’s on Amazon. Neither of those agree great for training though. Altra Superiors have worked as well and I use those to hike, but they have more stack height than I want in the gym. I’ve tried other Vivo models, Xero, BeLenka, and some others. The ones that were wide enough had weird shapes (BeLenka bean shape didn’t work for my feet), and the rest just didn’t give me enough room.
Whats your favorite colorway in tolos 2.0 for dailyware? The one you have in the video looks like black with white sole..but i dont see black white on website. Is that slate you have there and not black?
I reallllllly like the white colorways and black/tan. The model featured in video I believe was a small run because the coloring was off so it's kind of a rare pair. If you like em and you're a 10, I'll send you these! I have a back up pair of whites that I wear more often
Hey Jake, great review. I'm looking for a daily wear shoe that I can use in the Gym for weightlifting and classes. I've been incorporating sled pushing in my workouts and my current shoes are slipping on the turf. How is the grip on these shoes for pushing sleds on turf?
So, finally got these in the mail after being a week late due to terrible weather lol. But first impressions of the shoes are great, I use them for my Insanity Max 30 workouts at home, for the first time in forever my feet didn't hurt. I felt springy with all the plyometrics involved with these workouts. They're incredibly comfortable as well, I noticed my calves were working more compared to my typical trainers. Overall, I am very happy with the fit and finish of the shoe, the styles is great as well, and they do exactly what I need and want. P.S. I am barefoot 90 percent of the time as I work from home, so that may have an impact on not really needing time to get used to barefoot shoes as well. Thank you for your recommendation. I am looking forward to the Archetype 3.0 whenever they release!
I have been using mine for about 2 weeks now for training / work (CPT). Getting them on is definitely a struggle, but I do appreciate how locked in my ankle is when they are on. I think if they were an 0.5-1 inch wider they would fit perfectly with most of my socks. Right now they feel best width wise with thinner socks. Xero’s still fit my foot the best overall, Vivo’s I had issues with the breaking, so these would be somewhere in the middle. Performance / look wise I prefer these over my Xero 360’s. Thank you for the review and overall content Jake!
I wear the Inov8 Bare XF in 10.5 Mens, which fit me really well after I loosened the laces a bit. Would that be a potential problem if I got these shoes in the same size? Edit: I ordered them and tried them out. My feet have too much volume to wear these those comfortably. It sucks that they don't fit me well, because they look great and their outsole definitely has some solid grip to it. I'm hoping they make their next iteration can better accommodate higher volume feet
@@thatfitfriendI'm still currently waiting for the black versions to restock 😅, and I was wondering if the grip would do well for parkour? I was considering just buying these shoes for parkour but I'm not sure how well the sole will perform for parkour. I was considering buying a parkour forward shoe such as the Strike Mvmnt shoe, but since I've been using a Whitin barefoot shoe for quiete a bit for parkour and I'm not sure if my foot would fit well in the Strike shoes, without getting them crammed. Would you suggest the Strike Mvmnt as the same toe box as the Whitin, or should I wait for the black Tolos to restock? Thank you for your time.
@@Jantazo Soon! If I'm not mistaken, the manufacturer messed up the colorway so they've been on hold for a second. The Tolos model should work, but keep in mind, that's a big should since I'm not in the parkour scene! The STR/KE shoes will be more narrow, but if you're not maxing out your WHITIN shoes then I think you'd be fine in them, honestly. My only gripe about the STR/KE models is their outsole can lose its tread kind of quick
@@thatfitfriendThat's good to hear! If it helps recommendation wise, a parkour shoes main characteristic is to have a good, grippy, flat and durable rubber, for use on concrete, walls, etc, like a skate shoe. For example the classic vans and the Adidas Sambas have good gums for parkour. So if the Tolos check that category then let me know if you would recommend! Thank you for responding.
Thanks for all your videos. I binged basically your entire barefoot playlist. So I just got my Vivo Primus Lite iii's and I'm kinda disappointed with how they feel. The size 10 is definitely the size I needed. I was so disappointed that I walked to my computer and ordered the Tolos 2.0's since you recommended them so much (thanks for the discount code). Now I still have the original order of the Primus Asana's that I originally got for work. I think I'm going to return them for a size 10 based on how good the Lites fit. Now 1 final question for you. For an everyday/work/casual shoe, would you recommend the Asanas (I'm kinda partial to the wool) or the Primus Knits? Both have a beautiful burgeondy so it's just down to wool vs traditional knit. Since you've experienced both, what would you recommend?
Idk what shoe to get! I’ve never tried barefoot shoes. I have flat feet, and I heard they can help correct this by strengthening my arches. I won’t be doing any running but I want a shoe I can do casual weightlifting in like squatting, deadlifting, as well as an everyday use kind of shoe. Heard good stuff from xero 360, prio neo, HFS, adidas total, and even chuck taylors, as well as the one in the video. I can’t decide!!
IMO, I wouldn't overthink it. If you opt for a barefoot shoe, keep in mind, you'll want to acclimate to them slowly and not make the switch 100% to their usage. I'd suggest starting out wearing them for shorter durations when walking and for lower impact sessions in the gym then work up from there. Also, the Total and Converse will have a little more stack height and traditional midsole so you won't necessarily get the same barefoot shoe effect on the arches, per se. I'd go with the Tolos Arch 2 or Prio Neo!
shame no UK retailer for these yet I'd be tempted to order a pair but just unsure on the sizing (and the hassle that comes with an overseas return) How do they compare size wise to Xero's? as those are the ones i tend to use..HFS prio etc)
How would this compare to the notorious ssg3? I know they are supposed to be slippers and not barefoot shoes, but the wider toe box and stronger sole at a much cheaper price makes me wonder what benefits would a BF shoe bring over something like that
The versatility is the main perk. For ex, you can wear these out and about versus a deadlift slipper which is just performance-focused. At the end of the day, though, if you just want something for lifting and want to save money - can't go wrong with a deadlift slipper in most cases!
really wanted to love the 1.0s but the creasing into my toes just from WALKING was too much risk to try to keep and wishing it would eventually “break in” like a Tolos employee told me. also odd that it was only the left shoe. also kind of miss the logo - although i did not dig the gold too much however a black or white logo would have been real clean. i did see some people putting a black sharpie to the logo in the 1.0s and vastly improving the look. may try the 2.0s if the creasing is that much improved.
my feet are wide af and my poor pinky toe is always getting crushed even in wide toe box/wider toe box shoes. looking at a few options including the laced drop zero tyr
@@thatfitfriend This will be my first pair of proper barefoot footwear! I have the TYR lifting shoes (not the barefoots) with a *wider toe box* but its not wide enough. im about 4 inches to 4.2 inches on my widest point. my baby toe is at most 1 inch less forward than my big toe so its a victim of all the footwear that tapers off earlier
