I have been a Villan since 1968, and this period of time is only second to our late 70's and early 1980's. I only hope it is the start of something big and not just a flash in the pan like Leicester.
Would be a lot less surprising than Leicester winning the league so anything is possible but as a villa fan I don't see it yet. I think if we made 4th again this year that would be huge! A lot of teams have had a 1 off year in the UCL and then fell off. Another 2/3 summer transfer windows with Unai, I think we could be there or there about. Owners aren't afraid to spend and unai has picked up some real gems. Likes of Morgan Rogers has potential to be a world class number 10. Figures definitely bright for Villa
Unai is different class. Goes off and signs Rogers from Championship while Ten Hag signs Hojlund for 72 million and then another scrub in Zirkzee. And Rogers is better than both of them.
Also a Villa fan. While your statement seems prudent and properly humble, Mister has a way of advancing his program faster than we expect, eh? I won't be surprised if we do end up challenging at the top this year. But I'd be pleased with top 4 and satisfied with European places, in any case. The way he's got the squad ticking right now though, I say "aim for the highest." UTV
Agreed realistically we won't win the league I still think our defence is a little DODGEY we've got this bad habit of conceding silly goals Morgan Rogers what an engine he has OMG
I’m a Villa fan, I don’t think we’re competing for the title, as much as I’d love it. I think we’ve got a lot on our plate with the UCL and draws against Utd and Ipswich are points lost which, when you’re in the title race, are costly. I’d love it, of course, but I’m more interested in top 4 and doing well in the UCL. UTV
I believe Brentford did the double over them when City won the treble or something along those lines it's still possible but unlikely for us to do so just like it was unlikely to bounce back after the lose at home against Ipswich in 81 so just like what Ron said back then "do you want to bet against us?"
@Flyasadiamond I totally agree. We might get there at some point in the next few years, if we continue to grow as a team on and off the pitch, but top 4 again and somewhere in the knockout stages of UCL would be a great finish.
Are we one of the best sides in the league? Yes Are we title contenders? No Better sides have tried over the years to knock Man City off the throne but it never happens. I do think we'll get minimum top 6 and I'd love a cheeky little FA Cup or League Cup if you don't mind Unai.

Villa 4th right now. Villa 4th last season, and Villa were the 4th best team in the league from Nov the previous season from when Emery arrived. Would require a fair step up to challenge the top come the end of the season. But also bizarre why so many don't think Villa will get champions league again given all that data. Its almost boringly consistent top 4 form.
2 years yesterday we sacked Stevie G. Since then we've taken the 4th most points in the league, the consistency that Emery's brought has been nothing short of incredible! And the fact we only now have our full strength squad for the first time makes it to be an incredibly exciting prospect! Not saying we'll win it of course but the narrative of 'they'll fall off' that's been parroted around the last couple seasons is looking like a worse and worse bad faith take. UTFV
If we can stay in Europe for a few more seasons we can continue to strengthen with the added revenue, keep the conveyer going from the academy to the first team and maybe in a few seasons we could compete. For every team besides City every move has to be smart and calculated to slowly build a new ladder where the one they pulled up behind them was.
Injuries caught up with Villa in the last couple of months of last season, but for that we had averaged around 2 points a game since Emery arrived, so 80ish points is likely and 80 something points have been enough to win the title 4 times in the past 10 years. We aren't really in form yet, we've just picked up the very good habit of being able to win without being at our best. We probably won't win the title but we might run the eventual winners close, personally I'm more concerned about getting top 4 again.
Averaging over 2 pts per game makes you a top 4 team. We are up there now but city and arsenal will likely pick up form and start Averaging 2.5 points per game after January while we will probably keep a similar points ratio. Ill say that we are contenders for now but come February it might be a different story
How the narrative has changed, last season we were overlooked, this season we don’t have the huge injuries of last, I don’t think we are challengers yet, but everyone is worried about us, wonder if the rules will be changed again to suffocate our progress? Up the Villa

We’re a couple of top top players short of being contenders. If we can get a RB and RW, Mings and Kamara pick up where they left off then maybe we can be hovering around the top 4 come the end of the season. As it stands top 4 again will be tough with Chelsea on the up, Brighton flying, and our extra games in Europe. Can’t complain though compared to 5 years ago!!
@@TimLemonn I agree with most of what you say, but Brighton certainly are not Champions League place contenders, not sure where that idea came from, flying or not

Contenders ...not this season...got a lot to adapt to this season with champions league football...still haven't the squad to cope over a full season but the club is back where it belongs.
We've got the squad just most where out injured last season now everyone's back for the first time in ages hopefully they don't get injured again
@@dennisgoatimer1079 Have to disagree...squad wasn't strong enough ifact is injuries will happen...club is in multiple competitions ,champions league is another level..the expectations are greater..added pressure and the squad is light in areas..especially at the back..players like Mings are coming back..no guarantee these players will hit the ground running....hoping come February when the season really starts to bite Villa are competing for top 4and in good condition to compete in the cups...but to be genuine title contenders this season is not impossible but likely unrealistic.
nah no way, they’re top four material but there’s no way they can beat the likes of 115, varsenal and livarpool 😂
Need to upgrade our VAR subscription to BIG 6 tier
We got var in our pocket we all know it stands for Villa's Assistant Referee 😂 UTV
@@chrisweaver5222 if you need var to win you titles like city, then that is so sad 😂
@@daniellageorgiou-norman2244 oh watch out everyone the fun police are out on the comments section 😂
@@chrisweaver5222 i’m stating the truth. if you need var to win you titles, then that is so sad because the refs help you, your team isn’t doing anything, the refs are
If cheating city wasn’t in the league then we’d have a chance. While they’re there we have none. Title will be city’s most years, as it has been.
Man utd will be looking for a new manager soon....i wonder 😮
They'll win the FA Cup but Arsenal will win the league.
So Aston Vila are contenders but liverpool need to win the league to be contenders.
Villa are title contenders 😂
It's what your mum was saying 😂
@@1307PSON Great spelling for a 5 year old. Well done.
@danielhughes7228 Hahaha, an immature comment by myself 100%, but please explain where I've misspelt anything 😅
@@1307PSON you haven’t.
what im saying is for a five year old you’ve got great spelling.
I’m presuming your 5 with a comment like
“It’s what your mum was saying”
As you have said above slightly immature a. 😅😅😅
@@danielhughes7228 haha fair! Was just in an immature mood 😂
ASTON VILLA haven’t got a hope in hell of winning the Premier League. Get real.
Leicester survived relegation and won the league. Stranger things have happened
dickhead
Why?
Because they aren’t good enough that’s why.
@@allanashton5187 Again....what would your opinion have been in 2015/16 if someone suggested Leicester for the title. Probably similar lol
They wont even make top 4 lol
United fan 😅🤣 Your manager couldn't hold Emery's jockstrap
Ok mystic meg
I’d worry about your own team making top half of the table bud. Let the big 6 team fans speak here…
Unless you're city, Chelsea, arsenal, united, spurs or Liverpool then ya not big 6
