These two early stop-motion animated short by George Pal were originally produced by Philips Radio, and it was distributed by Pictoreels, the same distributor that did the Harman & Ising's "Happy Harmonies" series for MGM. The opening and closing to the home movie version got plastered by the Pictoreels titles. The original version at the end of every cartoon where they advertised Philips radios. There two were originally shown as advertising shorts. These two were originally in color, but they were in black & white. The first was called "The Big Broadcast of '38" where it was missing the first minutes of the cartoon. The second cartoon "Cavalcade in Music" which was originally titled "Philips Cavalcade" from 1934.
What's the name of that song that the man was singing in front of the microphone? Also, does anyone else besides me think of Pee-wee's Playhouse whenever they see this?
The original color versions of these are available on the Puppetoon Movie Blu Ray available here www.amazon.com/Puppetoon-Blu-ray-Graunke-Symphony-Orchestra/dp/B00GL9D6JG

5:45 That looks kind of fun at the party. It looks just like the ball from Disney's Cinderella 1950.

The Philips Broadcast (1938)
Philips Cavalcade (1939)
3:50 This is included in the 300 Cartoon Classics 10 Disc set.
I'd love to see the exposure sheets for the Puppetoons. I wonder if they used them or some other way of timing out the animation.
