  • Killers of the Flower Moon is “Scorsese’s most innovative and best movie in decades." Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone. Watch Killers of the Flower Moon on Digital Now: paramnt.us/WatchKOTFM
At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. Based on a true story and told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), “Killers of the Flower Moon” is an epic western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal. Also starring Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, and Jillian Dion, “Killers of the Flower Moon” is directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese from a screenplay by Eric Roth and Martin Scorsese, based on David Grann’s best-selling book.

Through the very brief scenes of the trailer, I could see that it recreated exactly what I imagined from reading the book (and from reality). One could say that a nearly 4-hour movie is boring but to me, 4 hours of Scorsese's cinematic talent is such a bless. What a move to long for.

I finished reading this book a little over a week ago and I can honestly say it's one of the craziest stories I've ever read. I'm really happy that it's got an incredible cast of actors and filmmakers behind it. You would think this is the kind of stuff that's taught in schools, but like a lot of America's dark history, it is brushed over and forgotten.

A three and a half hour blockbuster epic by the most acclaimed living director starring the two highest-profile critically acclaimed living lead actors, based on a best-selling massively acclaimed book, itself not even the first acclaimed book on the topic (the one before it, "Mean Spirit", won the highest literary journalism prize possible), is hardly "brushing over".
What exactly in history courses in American schools is highlighting anything OTHER than "America's dark history"? If the Osage murders are not covered, it's only because they've been crowded out by covering slavery, or segregation, or Tuskegee medical experimentation, or Emmet Till, etc etc etc.
The only reasonable criticism of American history courses is that they don't cover anything OTHER than "America's dark history". Growing up in American schools you would imagine America is somehow uniquely evil and that there is nothing else significant in our history than nonstop racism.

Nothing wrong with watching a scorsese movie multiple times. I always discover new details. I watched The Departed , GoodFellas and Casino at least 10 times each in my life. Excellent is also Shutter Island there you get almost two films. Watching one time without knowing the Twist and one time with knowing it what make many scenes seen in a completely different light.

as a non-indigenous person, i couldnt stop crying. the entire movie was full of evil. that one scene, with those oil tycoons that were in that one room talking to Ernest spoke volumes of the puppeteering and power that were beyond Hale's own evil. they should have not let anyone into their community without having a police department assigned by their own to patrol and investigate crimes. they had too much trust. where there is this much money, evil tends to follow and scourge.

Obviously talking to the Osage people is a big must in the making of the film. I'm sure that Martin Scorsese talked to a lot of people that are descendants of those Osage Indians who were murdered. Martin Scorsese is very meticulous in making a film, in making the mafia films he's known for he'd talk to guys who had been in the mafia and had done time, he talks to real people with real insight into stories he tells and has them work as advisors on his films.

Although we don't always want to pull up the past because it isn’t pretty, the point ow is to remember and highlight what happened to this tribe in Oklahoma. The people that were involved in these events are the ones responsible for the decisions that they made and for what transpired afterwards. As the viewer, we can appreciate it for what it is through Scorsese a glimpse of native american history. DiCaprio’s and Gladstone’s acting had me believing that he could be the marrying kind. You will find that there are many many outright unprovoked massacres of black towns that were doing financially well throughout America. If you have the chance, go see it in the movie theatre, before it is taken away. I think its great cinematography requires for it to be seen on a big screen in order to be appreciated at its fullest. Actually, I think everything in this movie is to be seen and enjoyed on the big screen, the settings, the acting, the sound and the music, but, above all, it is a very interesting and well told story based on facts (most tragic and horrific ones ). Scorsese is at the peak of his powers as a movie maker, and all the cast ensemble is simply terrific.
