    Thank you for sharing your story. I'm having a vertical abdominal hysterectomy next month. Uterus size is 24 weeks. I'm 41 and I've email him this morning panicking asking for UFE of possible.
    Your videos have reassured me that he's right that I need hysterectomy because I can't continue to live life with these huge multiple fibroids.

      I am glad I can help but you need to trust your instincts. My doctor was very careful to make sure I was mentally ready for it too because it's a huge decision. If you aren't ready, you can always take some time to think. I am glad I didn't wait much longer, however, because the bigger the fibroids the tougher they are to remove. Just stay focused on a better future for yourself and I am sure it will work out. xo

    Thx for sharing that post-op, after recovery; quality of life, mood, and energy may be better than what it was preoperative. I feel hopeful again, at 1 week post op; that at 47, my new normal after recovery might be above and beyond where it was before surgery. That is the ultimate incentive for empowerment & self care. 🎉

    Hello, I just had total laparoscopic hysterectomy. This was a 3 hours process.I do know every individual is different . Growing up my m cycle was not regular no cramps cycle when I had one would last maybe three days at the most. My later fifty’s about 56 I wouldn’t have a m cycle.when I turned 60 the bridge was broken Ms. Red would come to visit and stay sometimes three weeks headaches, cramps, blood clots and flooding. I saw my OBGYN and told her about my cycle, long story short I had a D N C that helped for a few months. Each time I would change my mind about having a hysterectomy it would start all over again. I had a total laparoscopic hysterectomy 10-27-2023😊. If I had to do this over I could have the surgery. In recovery I had Level of 8 pain, I haven’t had any pains nor pain medication, I was up moving around after surgery to try to relief the gas .I can say I am truly blessed.I go for my six week check up 12-11-2023. I thank GOD for everything. Four days after surgery I wear a Shapermint shorts and that help to hold everything if I cough or sneeze. I don’t recommend to this for anyone but this is what I did..😊

    Really heartened to hear about your return to workouts. I am six days post-op and much of what I’ve been reading about how soon you can return to “real” workouts is pretty bleak and it was depressing me. I didn’t think I could mentally deal with waiting a year before lifting). I’ll be listening to my body instead. Thanks!

      ps. I also have a program to help ease you back into training which many ladies start 4-6 weeks post surgery. You can see the details of that here: femalefitnesssystems.com/post-hysterectomy-exercise-program/

    Great video! Thank you for giving us an update. You can actually track your cycles still if you want to. You might not have as many symptoms as before because of how what you had was affecting everything but you will still have some symptoms. I’m on my sixth week postop, still recovering , and I noticed breast tenderness and a little of acne that started a couple of days ago, so I went on my calendar and sure, my period would be about to come in a couple of days. So maybe you don’t have to lose the tracking that you liked to do before. Wishing you the best!❤️❤️

I was pretty fit before the op and resumed normal life including trying to exercise but I stared feeling constant abdominal pain - similar to when you start abdominal exercises after a break and sometimes pain around my incisions. My doctor says that it’s because organs are moving to fill in the space where my uterus was. Is it a common experience ?

    • @MelanieDurette
      @MelanieDurette  Год назад +1

      Hi. It does in part depend on your type of hysterectomy. With my incision being in the belly button I'm at lower risk for prolapse and I also don't have a family history of it. However, I still do kegels regularly. I would ask your surgeon if you can. Mine was very helpful. He ran over technique for exercise which is very important for me (engaging the pelvic floor) since I lift heavy.
