It's refreshing to see hunts that are real rather than the stuff you typically see on tv. I appreciate showing the trials and tribulations and "unsuccessful" hunts. It gives viewers realistic expectations, rather than fooling everyone into thinking hunting is easy and that trophies are the only way to measure success. Keep up the great work!
You guys are bringing the joy of watching hunting back for me. Just nice to see how the hunts are played out and not scripted. The sweat, the waiting, the misses, the mistakes and the best when everything comes together for a well deserved shot of whiskey. Keep up the good work and I’ll see you tomorrow.
You guys don’t just capture a hunt- you capture the adventure; illustrating the highs and lows. Testing one’s ability both physically and mentally to be patient on top of mountains fighting against Mother Nature in order to fulfill your desired passions and dreams. Much respect for capturing an adventure rather than just “the kill”. But above all, for showing respect to the animals you eat and harvest. We need more people like you in the hunting media.
Dude...the whole experience of having the weather change that quickly and impede visibility so intensely is so foreign to this AZ hunter. Love seeing it through your guys' eyes!
This was my favorite episode thus far. The elements controlled the hunt and the video... but I think it worked great. It let us develop our own thoughts and ideas. A very creative way around what you couldn't control.
Gnarly weather and it often changes, have to love Kodiak. Keep up the good work being from Alaska and now returned and having lived in Flagstaff I enjoy seeing the country I’m been lucky enough to stomp around in.
Another good video I'm glad to see that you guys don't just cut the footage of bad hunts you really showcase what it's like to hunt in its entirety and best of luck when you go back after the deer
What a hunt! Real hunting for sure. Sam, super sporting to give up your chance for a blacktail to help others; hopefully you'll have a chance at a true trophy soon.
Holy wind. Wow that is absolutely crazy. The filming of the fog coming up the mountain was amazing. Happy to hear you guys have plenty of fish for tacos!
Several lessons to be learned from this video for a hunter about to take on the same conditions. Your videos are an invaluable tool for guys like myself. Thanks for what you do.
I really dug all the close up shots on this one guys, the dried moss on the rocks, etc. The ending too, very deconstructionist, even Pynchon-like. Cheers!
I loved the shot at the start of the day as you were walking past the buffalo. Looking forward to the next episode and following along on all the adventures. It's making my hunting blues go away somewhat.
Brutal conditions that you captured very well. That’s hunting and they all don’t follow the script. Huge part of what sets your videos apart, you show them all and it’s great! Looking forward to some more elk hunting!
Wow, that land is breathtakingly beautiful. These videos only add fuel to my desire to get to Alaska on a hunt. Moose is my dream quarry. Hopefully I can get there someday sooner than later.
It’s always nice to see hunts aired that weren’t successful. Young hunters need to see that hunts aren’t always guaranteed a kill as well as mess ups happen in the field. I have filmed for shows that only air perfectly done successful hunts and it is disappointing to see the mess ups and unsuccessful stuff all edited out. Well done guys keeping it real!
That was some nasty conditions, that's mother nature so unpredictable.. Your crew is always positive and very focus. Another entertaining episode. Thanks enjoyed. My wife said it so neat the a women was on the hunt enjoying gods creation.
Damn that fog was crazy, I was starring at the TV so hard trying to see those glimpses of silhouettes. That was insane crazy wind too. Tough day for sure.
Cool hunt guys even in bad weather your hunts keep me so excited that I cant wait to see the next one every day and they inspired me to get more adventurous on my hunts thanks for sharing them can’t wait for tomorrow
I love the hunts guys! The places I have seen you guys go seem crazy but since I'm a hunter they make perfect sense to me keep up the great work and vids!
Mother Nature and Alaska fog is one crazy beast. Right when you think it going to left it thickens right back up. But days like that make you cherish the good ones. What caliber where you using for the goats?
Love this episode guys! I believe "outdoor programming" has become too focused on casting characters who deliver goofy one liners and always manage to get a kill shot. when at the end of the day a hunt is more about you vs the country, the animals, and your own willingness to do whatever it takes to get it done. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. This video shows the latter and it's awesome because its real. Keep it up boys. I anxiously await the release of each episode.
Yep. Sure does. No caliber is big enough to "buck" the wind. It's pretty important to know the effect the wind will have on the trajectory, and to shoot within those limitations. These goats were pretty close, with the wind easily accounted for. Thanks Gavin.
Is this the dg478 tag or just registration? My brother and I have a hunt planned for the south road system at the end of August. With covid going on our scouting trip was eliminated. Would you be willing to talk about the terrain and tips about what you learned on the hunt? Btw great job staying positive and trying to seal the deal. Lots of people forget that it’s called hunting and not killing! These animals are beautiful and majestic. They deserve the respect for the land they live in and the elements they go through. Thanks Kevin
I don't remember metering the wind... but I'd guess on the tops and windward side of those knife edges they were pushing 30mph. On the leeward side however, maybe 5. It was crazy.
Holy wind batman!! Not in kansas anymore toto!! Way to stick it out all day on the mountain. Thats not only physically demanding but mentally as well! #youwinsomeyoulosesome
Guys, @9:01 you DO NOT take that shot. I live in Alaska and enjoy high altitude hunting myself; despite the weather conditions, you must have patience and use your best judgment in high-stress situations like this.
Would be cool if you had some narration to create a story better. Weren't your old videos more like a storied production instead of just clips of your adventures?
We did do that on past videos. There's a lot of other guys out there doing voice over narration for their videos. This episode was silent because the wind was so loud and became the story itself. And the hunter on this one didn't want to be featured prominently, so we agreed to her request. Thanks for watching Nigel.
Thanks. We use IG @themountainproject. Our subs are going up, regular content is the key, and we've a lot more videos planned for the channel. Fishing, cooking, shooting, reloading, filming. It's all coming.

Thank you. Definitely nothing easy about this one.

The sweat, the waiting, the misses, the mistakes and the best when everything comes together for a well deserved shot of whiskey. Keep up the good work and I’ll see you tomorrow.
Thanks Bryan.

Thanks Justin.
That wind on the ridge. That’s awesome helping document a fellow hunters adventure. Something they can always turn back to. Great episode!
Thanks Colin
Mother nature saved that goat! Crazy to see the weather change so fast.
Sure did. If that weather can't inspire awe in a person, I don't know what could.
Dude...the whole experience of having the weather change that quickly and impede visibility so intensely is so foreign to this AZ hunter. Love seeing it through your guys' eyes!
What a hunt! Definitely kept me on my toes. Thanks for showing the true challenge of the hunt that few hunting shows fail to capture these days!
Thanks again Shane
This was my favorite episode thus far. The elements controlled the hunt and the video... but I think it worked great. It let us develop our own thoughts and ideas. A very creative way around what you couldn't control.
Same here Ryan, but I thought it was maybe because I lived was on the mountain, stuck in that wind.
Gnarly weather and it often changes, have to love Kodiak. Keep up the good work being from Alaska and now returned and having lived in Flagstaff I enjoy seeing the country I’m been lucky enough to stomp around in.
Thanks Jacob
Another good video I'm glad to see that you guys don't just cut the footage of bad hunts you really showcase what it's like to hunt in its entirety and best of luck when you go back after the deer
Thanks James.
What a hunt! Real hunting for sure. Sam, super sporting to give up your chance for a blacktail to help others; hopefully you'll have a chance at a true trophy soon.
After watching that, I’ll never complain about wind again! Really made me feel like I was on the mountain with you spotting and stalking those goats.
Thanks Blake. Enjoy the wind for what it is, another element that makes the day the day.
Holy wind. Wow that is absolutely crazy. The filming of the fog coming up the mountain was amazing. Happy to hear you guys have plenty of fish for tacos!
mmmmmmn. Tacos! Thanks for watching Nathan.
I can relate to missed opportunities and I am sure more people can and I think it's so cool that y'all aren't afraid to show it on such a big platform
Thanks Adam.
Several lessons to be learned from this video for a hunter about to take on the same conditions. Your videos are an invaluable tool for guys like myself. Thanks for what you do.
Thanks Arron.
I really dug all the close up shots on this one guys, the dried moss on the rocks, etc. The ending too, very deconstructionist, even Pynchon-like. Cheers!
Winning comment right here!! I'm not super familiar with Pynchon, guess I'll have to read one of his books. Thanks for watching Matt.
I dig the affects of the weather on this hunt! Way to capture it all! Hungry, why wait eat a “snickers”!
Thanks Robert
The extremes of Alaskan weather and harsh terrain looked savage on this hunt.
Exactly what you want out of an Alaskan adventure. Thanks for watching Anthony.
I loved the shot at the start of the day as you were walking past the buffalo. Looking forward to the next episode and following along on all the adventures. It's making my hunting blues go away somewhat.
Thank you!
Brutal conditions that you captured very well. That’s hunting and they all don’t follow the script. Huge part of what sets your videos apart, you show them all and it’s great! Looking forward to some more elk hunting!
Back to AZ tonight, finally. Elk, Aoduad, then more Elk.
Such a rad edit! the native audio and lack of narration through the hunting sequence gave it a great feel! Subbed
Thanks J P. We appreciate it. I liked that the wind ended up being the entire story too.
Let no one say you guys don't put in the hard yards! Great film.
That weather change is nuts. High winds and steep mountains. What an adventure.
It was awesome.
Days like this would make part of me want to stay in the tent all day but the stronger part of me would push myself out to pursue the hunt.
Thanks Jacob. We appreciate you watching and commenting.
Ghost goats, that look pretty wicked how the weather just swallowed everything up like that, good luck on the next hunt!
Thanks Manley
Wow, that land is breathtakingly beautiful. These videos only add fuel to my desire to get to Alaska on a hunt. Moose is my dream quarry. Hopefully I can get there someday sooner than later.
Get up there. It's incredible. We're hoping to hunt moose again in the next few years.
Thank you. Couldn't agree more. This is all part of it, and part of what makes the good times that much "good-er".
Awesome. So tough to stick with it when mother nature is slapping you down. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Jeffrey
A little Pendleton and a kickass film... what more does a guy really need ?
um.... hmmm... nope that'd about all we can think of a guy needing. Thanks for watching Josh.
That was some nasty conditions, that's mother nature so unpredictable.. Your crew is always positive and very focus. Another entertaining episode. Thanks enjoyed. My wife said it so neat the a women was on the hunt enjoying gods creation.
Thanks Pat. She fit right in, got to everywhere we did, never once losing the smile on her face.
Damn that fog was crazy, I was starring at the TV so hard trying to see those glimpses of silhouettes. That was insane crazy wind too. Tough day for sure.
Barely a single word spoken in the video but still enthralling just the same. I was seriously hoping they would land a shot in that insane wind!
Thanks Dalton.
even the worst days hunting are the best days
Exactly.
Cool hunt guys even in bad weather your hunts keep me so excited that I cant wait to see the next one every day and they inspired me to get more adventurous on my hunts thanks for sharing them can’t wait for tomorrow
Thanks Kenny
Dang, now that was a hunt. Crazy wind,. Great vid, .Might put that on my bucket list.
Thanks Douglas!
Ya cool I can appreciate the wait, love the weather see you tomorrow 🍻
Thanks Rick.
I love the hunts guys! The places I have seen you guys go seem crazy but since I'm a hunter they make perfect sense to me keep up the great work and vids!
If jay was there he wouldn’t have been wearing a jacket. Growing up in RV he is used to that kind of wind 😂
I'm pretty thin skinned Scott, was all bundled up and perfectly comfortable.
Keep it up love seeing the day to day grind
Thanks Nick
Don't care who you are that was a tough day on the mountain. Great adventure.....thanks for the videos.
Thanks for sticking around with us.
Awesome work guys. Keep it up.
Thanks WIlliam
Enjoy your videos since I can relate to them having experienced the same conditions and outcome. Keeping it real
Loved the crap weather. Thank you for watching.
Mother Nature and Alaska fog is one crazy beast. Right when you think it going to left it thickens right back up. But days like that make you cherish the good ones. What caliber where you using for the goats?
Thanks for watching Kris. I used the Giveaway 6.5x284Norma, and this one was a 6.5CM

Corey Frauenfelder well said.
Thank you Corey!!
Does the wind affect your bullet travel vary much. Or is the caliber big enough to out way the wind.
Yep. Sure does. No caliber is big enough to "buck" the wind. It's pretty important to know the effect the wind will have on the trajectory, and to shoot within those limitations. These goats were pretty close, with the wind easily accounted for. Thanks Gavin.

Wow, that was some extreme weather. How high were the winds?
I don't remember metering the wind... but I'd guess on the tops and windward side of those knife edges they were pushing 30mph. On the leeward side however, maybe 5. It was crazy.
Did you guys see any other hunters on the mountain?
We saw other hunters everyday.
Silent film. ;0) If you plan another Kodiak Deer hunt I highly recommend a fly out the south half of the island!
That's what we're planning. Thanks James.
Wow that weather was intense. I felt like I was watching a disaster movie with the impending doom in the beginning. What did the wind get up to?
Probably the high 20s or so. I was just running cameras, and don't remember measuring it.
sounded and looked a lot worse. nice work regardless.
Ummm holy wind batman...thats about all I got to say about that. Way to stick it out guys! #beastmode
Thanks Aaron. It was a fun one.
Holy wind batman!! Not in kansas anymore toto!! Way to stick it out all day on the mountain. Thats not only physically demanding but mentally as well! #youwinsomeyoulosesome
It was awesome. Thanks Jake
anyone know what the theme song is at the beginning?
"Bad Men" by the RIVERS bad. Find it on Bandcamp. Also there's a link to it in the video description.
Thanks
To bad no one had a TA TONKA tag, those big guys were right next to the road!
Guys, @9:01 you DO NOT take that shot. I live in Alaska and enjoy high altitude hunting myself; despite the weather conditions, you must have patience and use your best judgment in high-stress situations like this.
The lifelong Alaska residents who took that shot seemed to be ok with it.
Good job your right it’s called hunting for a reason
Thanks Jerome
It looks like the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand.
That's what we've heard. I've been to Queenstown, and thought it was similar. Never the west coast though. So we're hoping to find out in 2019.
Would be cool if you had some narration to create a story better. Weren't your old videos more like a storied production instead of just clips of your adventures?

@@TheMountainProject Yeah I prefer the quiet...gives a feel for the desolation of the island..
The Wind.
Was Awesome! Thanks for watching again Bill.
dude how do you not have more subs? do you guys have IG or Twitter?
Thanks. We use IG @themountainproject. Our subs are going up, regular content is the key, and we've a lot more videos planned for the channel. Fishing, cooking, shooting, reloading, filming. It's all coming.
The Mountain Project. awsome cant wait
I'm not a fan of putting an animal down from a couple hundred yards, I'm glad he missed. Would have been epic if he used a bow though...
We just like to hunt. Whether it's bowhunting at 60 yards and rifle hunting at 600 yards. We appreciate you watching this.
It's just my personal opinion. Still a huge fan of your work. Keep it up guys.
Why the daily video thing. Why not make meaningful films like you used to? I don't get it.
personal preference. Thanks for watching.
