Sam, I'm 14 and at boarding school, you inspired me to start lifting so i saved up to buy a set of adjustable dumbbells and use them in my room. I also have access to the school gym two days a week for an hour a day and I've started eating 2 serving of dinner (the food here is pretty bad everyone thinks so). I'm 180cm tall (probably a bit more i measured a few months ago and I'm sitting around 60kg looking like a twig but when i get a good arm and chest pump i feel pretty good, thanks man you have helped me start my gym journey.
I wish I could’ve been in your position going to the gym at such a young age. You have such a headstart. Stay committed and you won’t even recognize yourself in a few years. Good luck brotha
You’re not a psychologist but you have helped many people in your own different ways, the sheer simplicity of your advice about lifting and life in general brings out so much positivity and ease to an anxious person like me
Gaining fat is nothing to aim for, muscle is different thing. Losing excess fat at age 22 and "full juiced" is fucking joke compared to being natty and little older.
You're looking fresh my brother, good to see you progress from the early high sugar days. You can really see the difference in your skin, you are glowing. Food is key man, difference between making the right and wrong gains. Beautiful stuff.
The skinny fat topic is so true, going from couch potato to lifting 7 days a week my biceps are insane after just two weeks. Saw my first vein today and feel amazing. Once you get a taste it truly takes over.
Man I lost my Pokémon Platinum on the bus back in the day. I knew it was stolen and have been looking for the thief ever since. Just my luck that the guy who took it is a 270lb muscle bound freak. I ain’t ever getting that back
I’ve had cancer for 2 years, have gone from 210 - 175 and have never stopped lifting and doing cardio. When you do it for the right reasons like self love and pure discipline, you just find yourself getting your gym gear together and giving it your best effort.
The Legend of Zelda 25th anniversary edition was for the 3DS not DSi. Close enough though. But have to say I was surprised to see you make mention of it randomly. Would love to see themed questions on it even if you were just bsing lol

Hey Sam, really enjoy the long form talking and QnAs. I think topic specific QnA videos is an awesome idea! I like throwing on the videos to listen to while I go about my daily tasks.
I got into a motorcycle accident 9 months ago. Broke my femur in 2places, my tibia, and my pelvis in 2 places, I can now hack squat more weight and reps than before my accident. I watched all your videos for motivation💪

Such a good video, I look forward to watching the uploads everyday keeps me going helps me, I started my gym journey this year and I’ve seen some great progress on myself and feel more confident in the gym and about myself Thanks Sam much love brother
the skinny fat thing hit home. i'm now 53 and 4 years ago i quit a 37 year pack a day cigarette habit, and i went from just skinny at the time, 6ft 125lbs, to 163lbs today. due to some underlying health issues i can't really go too hard with the weights, but i do as much as i can as often as i can, in addition to my minimum 6k steps a day, and even then i can see a bit of a difference. i still have a bit of a belly but it's not getting any bigger and i feel better.
I had a full pec major tear off the bone hitting a 315 max and it took me 3 years to build back up to benching 315. Do everything in your power to avoid that injury Edit: It happened in a powerlifting meet. I weighed around 170 at the time. Had hit 320 in training 2-3 weeks before the meet. I wasn’t fully warmed up. The 455lb squat right before shocked my nervous system. Didn’t sleep well the night before and it was freezing cold in the facility.
Never do maxes on anything I would say dont do flat bench at all. We all have ego lift on that lift. Nobody tries to Max out dumbbells, Smith machine or incline.
@@Djdkdkdndkzn1 Nah. Don't max out if you're not used to maxing out. Especially on gear. For people accustomed to high intensity sets at 90+% of their 1rm, hitting that single PR is not unsafe at all, or not any unsafer than repping. But yes, bench press is THE injury lift, long term.

Need the opposite scenario of “skinny fat” now. I’m a fat guy who never lifted, had a leg injury that put me in a wheelchair for 16 weeks and then got an office job. Long story short, picked up the muffin top and am comfortable just sitting all day while now getting to 245lb at 6’0 with (what my Amazon scale says) is 30% body fat. I have started lifting weights, stationary bike and treadmill routine 3-4 times a week before I head to work while getting in some protein in order to build the muscle I never had. Stuck in that awkward phase where I thankfully see muscle development in my biceps and chest, but I don’t see body fat going anywhere. I tell myself the new muscle is replacing the fat weight so it looks like I’m at a plateau, but this same scale says I haven’t lost any body fat %. This is kinda demoralizing. Advice? Thank you so much for the daily motivation and videos for me. You’re the reason I started this journey.
Thanks for the advice, Sam. Had my first physio appointment today (for elbow only, back isnt ready yet) and she reccommended doing some curls to get the flexibility back in my elbow. I dont need to be told twice! 😂
For better context on your ww2 plane analogy, they thought putting more armor on the wings would be the fix, but the actual issue was when planes did get hit in the engine they didn't come back, but if they got hit in the wings they could come back. The actual solution was putting more armor on the hull of the plane. A good analogy of something may look like you need to fix it but it is really an entirely different problem.
