Cate McGregor - ‘The Brave Trailblazer’
A finalist for 2016 Australian of the Year, senior transgender military officer and champion for diversity, Cate McGregor is a Member of the Order of Australia for "exceptional service to the Australian Army as the Director of the Land Warfare Studies Centre".
An advocate for the LGBTI community, Cate is a patron of Kaleidoscope Australia, a non-profit organisation focused on promoting and protecting the rights of LGBTI people in the Asia-Pacific region. Her moving account of transitioning from Malcolm to Cate in 2012 was told on the ABC’s ‘Australian Story’ and this well-known cricket commentator, author and political columnist’s remarkably brave journey has inspired others to be true to themselves.
Cate has since become a leading figure in the transgender community advocating for greater understanding and acceptance.
