Hi Guan Teik, as far as I know, generally the 30% tax on dividends for Malaysians from US stocks is a withholding tax and isn't typically reclaimable :O
Hello Ziet!! Thanks a lot for your inspiring and informative videos! I have enjoyed learning from your crisp and clear videos! I have one question, curious on your view on it. I am residing in Germany, which has tax treaty agreement with the US. What would you do if you were me. Should I invest on VOO (in US currency) ? or to the Ireland based S&P 500 ETFs? or both? Looking forward to hearing your view! Thank you.

Hi Ziet, I watched your video and started buying ETF like QQQM. Just want to understand what's the huge impact between SPLG and VOO. Both are all following the same index. SPLG is much cheaper and less fee, 0.02%. compared to VOO. In case that I have enough funds to invest and spend the same amount, which is better option - either buying more stocks of SPLG and same value but less numbers of VOO? Look forward to your answer :)
Thanks bro for explaining all the potential good ETFs to invest in. i was just looking some information and you presented it simply. Thank you very much!

Just found your channel, great content, wanted to bring up that it is worth mentioning that non-US residents should look for UCITS equivalents because they are Irish domiciled ETFs to reduce the withhold tax and estate tax burden.
Great point! Yes, UCITS ETFs are definitely a better option for non-US residents due to their tax efficiency. Ireland-domiciled ETFs can help reduce withholding and estate tax exposure.
Fantastic video and the cheat sheet at the end is just the cherry on top. Thanks Ziet! May I ask if the ETF has a negative return in a particular year, how will the expense ratio be charged?
Hehe glad you liked it! The expense ratio will always be taken from the fund's NAV, hence the reduction in the share price already includes the expense fee!

Hello, index funds as mentioned by most US youtubers refer to their Mutual Funds, but since most of us are from non-US countries, we can only access those funds via ETFs (exchange traded funds). That means we can just focus on ETFs, that tracks many things like Index, Industry, country etc. Hope this clarifies!

hi Ziet, how about about ETF for different Region like South East Asia, Asia, Africa, Arab Countries & China, I myself did Invest in Kweb ( China Tech), Any Recommendation?
Hey there! The impact of the 30% WHT on your investments can vary based on several factors like the dividend yield of the stock, the change in the stock's price, and your investment duration/entry/exit price. In general, to outweigh the WHT, your investment needs to generate returns higher than the WHT paid, as well as the fees incurred for the transaction (note: commission fees/trade for US and LSE market is different). Hi there! That's a common question and a good one to ask. The short answer is: not necessarily. The number of shares you own isn't as important as the total value of your investment and the return rate. Whether an ETF is "cheap" or "expensive" per share doesn't directly affect the profit you'll make if the yield (percentage return) is the same. What matters is how much you've invested in total and the return rate on that investment. Hope this helps ;)

Hey, no worries at all! There's no such thing as a noob question here, we're all learning together! When you're transferring funds to IBKR for purchasing US ETFs, the currency you choose for the deposit can make a difference: If you select USD, you'll be transferring US dollars directly into your account. This is generally straightforward if your WISE balance is already in USD because it avoids any conversion fees or exchange rate fluctuations.
