Yes, it's good that u cover this topic area. I have somewhat been avoiding ETFs until now - so now I am starting to look into building my dividend portfolio on top of my 12 year old tech high growth portfolio.
Well done. Keep it up Ziet. Was looking into this SCHD etf and you did a RUclips on it. Thanks. Learn a lot from you. Can you also share which app you use to check on the NAV return
Wooo thank youuu, glad this video helped! NAV return ah? Do you mean the excel charts that i draw myself? The datas are from seekingalpha / morningstar / their fund fact sheets (not sure if this answers your question!)
thku for sharing this ETF, Ziet ! SCHD is also part of my portfolio for long term stable stock for retirement ! i din know the two layer of tax but i guess worth it for stabilize and not so volatile for investor like me.
Hi Ziet, can you please explain to me how do we make money from our investment in growth etf vs dividend etf with the 30% WHT? I believe you can explain me better since im still trying to differentiate both specifically. Thank you so much 🤝
Hey Louie! Great question. With growth ETFs, you make money mainly through capital appreciation-basically, the value of the shares going up. Dividend ETFs will give you regular payouts from the profits the companies make (which may be subject to a 30% WHT depending on where you invest). The key difference is that growth ETFs focus on long-term gains, while dividend ETFs provide a steady income stream. Hope that helps!
Hi Ziet, I follow you since a time.. I am based in KL and you have made part of my live here. I have a question on IBKR... what do you think on the fact that tehre is no Transfer on Death options for non-US residents? Carlos.
Hi Carlos, thank you so much for your support (and apologies for the late reply, RUclips tend to hide comments for some reason!!) Re your question - at the moment IBKR does not have that option, but from my previous conversation with them, you can hire a lawyer and approach IBKR customer support to setup a will - hope this helps!
hi soon yi, you can buy it just like buying any other stock on a stock broker ya, personally a long-term user of IBKR myself so you can check them out here: www.interactivebrokers.com/mkt/?src=zietPY2&url=%2Fen%2Fwhyib%2Foverview.php%3Fnored%3Dt
Hey Ziet, awesome video yet again. Would you consider to review the Wahed FTSE USA Shariah ETF (HLAL)? There are many reviews on this but would like to get your thoughts on it. Thanks!
I'm interested in building a dividend income stream, but as a non-US citizen, I'm aware of the 30% withholding tax on dividends. I've been looking at SCHD, which offers both dividend payouts and potential for capital appreciation in the long run. i feel capital growth could potentially offset the withholding tax impact. Any advice or insights?
Ziet what's your general view of HDLV vs SCHD? Personally am trying to avoid investing too much into the tech focus ETF for now and am looking to diversify into more non-tech dividend ETFs. Is the extra tax from SCHD worth it?
Hi there! SCHD is known for its strong fundamentals and lower expense ratio, while HDLV offers a higher dividend yield. You can diversify by looking into non-tech dividends ya. As for taxes, it's always a personal call, but remember, it's the overall return after taxes that counts. If SCHD aligns with your goals and you're okay with its tax implications, it might be worth considering!
Hi Ziet, as always fan of your work and thrilled that u covered this Etf. Can I know how they payout the dividend? Is it to the IBKR account or bank account?
Hey there, thank you for your comment!😄 For SCHD's dividends, they are usually paid directly into your IBKR brokerage account. From there, you can choose to reinvest them or transfer the amount to your bank account, depending on your preference!
Hi Ant, im not quite sure what you are referring to, do you mean how to transfer fund into your TSG-IBKR account? you can check under the "Deposit" > choose currency tab ya (login the IBKR portal)
You got a point here! Both are popular choices, let me look into it! Meanwhile, I have several Ireland domiciled dividend ETFs comparison, check them out too ruclips.net/video/hdQ7IVRT9oY/видео.html
SCHD has a historical 10 years dividend GROWTH rate of 11.39%. So if I buy SCHD today at a dividend yield of 3.46% and deduct 30% withholding tax (non-US resident), I would get a nett 2.42% to start off with. So using a compounding calculator, my dividend yield would be: Year 5 4.15% Sad Year 10 7.1% Not bad Year 20 20.9% Nice! Year 30 61.5% Wow! Year 35 105.5% OMG! While impressive, I would only invest in SCHD if I have $500k spare cash. Otherwise I’ll be better off with other companies or ETFs. It requires great patience to reap the rewards and it doesn’t hurt to live a long life too like Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger.
Hi Ziet, 1. how about making a video on Spore Reits ETFs 2. About IBKR- it's recognized in many counties but not In Msia- should this be a concern, honestly please...
Spore REITs ETFs look interesting! I'll look into them. As for IBKR not being recognized in Malaysia, it's not a major concern for me. I have a video coming out soon (supposedly 21 Feb, fingercross!) that explains how you're protected under different entities. Be sure to check it out!
Not really, name me a Malaysian stock/ETF that can come close or beat SCHD's return, even after tax! (none comes close, after factoring in total return = capital gains + dividends)
Do let me know if you’d like me to cover more ETFs like this one!

Hello Ziet, is there an SCHD equivalent ETF domiciled in Ireland? I can't find one so I assume there is none?

Does BURSA or Singapore have any ETF that gives good income/dividends? at least we wont get 30% taxed

One of the most difficult thing in long term investing is indeed patience 👀 Especially especially when some speculative assets skyrocket 🫠🫠
