As a proud European. You are listening to our european hymn and one of the if not the best peaces of music ever written. Thank you from Sweden
Also as prod European i must say we are probably only one "nation" on earth willingly erasing their own culture.
This should be the World Anthem "Alle Menschen werden Brüder"🤘
All People will be Brothers
"Ode an die Freude" ("Ode to Joy") is the official anthem of the European Union and Council of Europe. The lyrics to this anthem are amazing:
"Joy, beautiful spark of Divinity, Daughter of Elysium! We enter, drunk with fire, heavenly one, thy sanctuary! Thy magic binds again, what custom strictly divided: All people become brothers, where thy gentle wing abides." *sings
we need more positive music that enforces humanity like this one in our lives.
It's just hit me they need no pre-arranged choir, because everyone on the square knows it and will automatically start singing. I wonder if it would be the same if a band planned a flash mob and played "The Star-Spangled Banner" in some random public place in America (not a sporting event). Likely not, I'm afraid, since we've given the singing of our national "anthem" over to the professionals. :-(
@@catrinlewis939 nah I don't think people at a random place would actually be able to sing the full Ode to Joy in all places. Even the German national anthem I am not sure everyone could sing in Germany.
@@6666ImperatorI think only a very small percentage of people couldn’t sing along. Don’t forget, that we have a lot of immigrants here. Of course they are not able to sing it, but in my opinion, if they want to stay here, they should learn it in the future. 90% could sing along. If they want to is another question.
Can’t go wrong with Schiller, much a relatable person than Goethe.
Our anthem! It touches me more than my national anthem!
What country do you live in?
@@shadesamurai This is the European Union anthem. Actually, it is a part of the 9th Symphony by Beethoven. It is called the "Ode to joy". ruclips.net/video/rOjHhS5MtvA/видео.html&ab_channel=ChicagoSymphonyOrchestra
Me too
Europe. Our motherland!
@@johanbranstrom9992LONG LIVE EU AND EVERY NATIONS!!!!
It seems like the Ode to joy did it's job well here. You just lit up more and more as the music grew. Lovely to see.
Your reaction is exactly what Ludwig van Beethoven intended with this composition, his Masterpiece: Joy! ❤😘
Thank you so much for sharing this. ❤
It's heart-warming to watch your face with it - let's just try to live what it says.
I love your reaction. It seems the Ode to joy really brought some joy for you. Which you pass on to us, the viewer.
Best wishes from the Netherlands.
SOOOOO glad seeing you enjoy this so much! I remember this video well, makes me smile and cry every time. Crappy evening turned out much better thanks to you!
Brothers in Europe!
All men become brothers where you rest your gentle wings!
The unifying power of music, love it!!!🥰
How I wish that I had been there.
Your reaction was just as I remember I felt when I first saw it. It was during the first wave of Covid and I had been caring for my mother so had not been out for a long time. To see all those people out in the sunshine listening to such a wonderful performance was immensely powerful.
I love such actions that have the goal to make strangers simply happy.❤👏👏👍👍By the way, this is also the European anthem.
damn I love how you enjoying this, it makes me smile as well ^^
ALL PEOPLE SHALL UNITE.... Composed by Beethoven in Bonn.... European hymn.....
I'm happy you enjoyed the Europahymne, greetings from Belgium.
I have watched that video lots of times. Still love it!
Linked your video to my Facbook page, and said: "Freude" is German for "joy" so the "Ode an Die Freude" is, in English, the Ode to Joy. And Beethoven's Ode to Joy is one of the most universally recognized and beloved pieces of music ever written. The lyrics come from an eighteenth century German poet, Friedrich Schiller which Beethoven then set to music, marking the first time a noted composer included a chorus into a symphony. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony is considered one of the greatest pieces of music ever composed, and the magnitude of Beethoven's achievement with it is that he was profoundly deaf at the time of its composition.
And if anyone wants to question the "universal" appeal of Beethoven's music, let me point out a few of his listeners. Hard core rappers listen to Beethoven. Metal heads listen to Beethoven. The Ode to Joy was played when the Berlin Wall fell and is also used as the anthem for the European Union. In Japan, they do a performance of Beethoven's Ninth every year, simply calling it "Daiku" or just "The Ninth." What is so remarkable about that annual performance is that the chorus is made up of the entire audience, some 10,000 strong and those who participate can spend months getting ready for that one night.
And to drive home Beethoven's universal appeal, please do watch this video. This young man clearly experienced joy listening to even this truncated version of the Ode to Joy. As the music builds in intensity and complexity, his own enjoyment of this incredible piece of music also builds as in clear with his ever broadening smile. I've been a fan of Beethoven most of my life and seeing someone else react so positively to this music, well, that brings even this tired old man a little joy, too.
So, with these trying times trying to divide us and tear us apart, maybe we should all do as this fine young man has done, listen to some Beethoven and remember that there is more that binds us to one another than divides us. Beethoven himself fervently hoped that his Ninth Symphony would be a unifying force for humanity. Let's continue to make that so.
It's clear that you appreciate good music even if it's 300 years old.
You had a wonderful reaction! Thank you
There is no melody i know better. One tune, all in! What he knew! He was sooo ahead of his time.
And he would be happy! HIS Ode to Joy... We celebrate it!
And THIS is Germany. Open to celebrate life with YOU. No matter what.
Close-minded people shuold close their ears. Everyone is welcome everywhere. no matter what the fuck youre all about. Rock oooon!
You just experienced the power of the hymn of the European Union. You are very welcome :)
ode to joy.
your happiness, omg...
thank you, you made my day 🥂
Es geht mir eigentlich jedes mal wie Neal, wenn ich dieses Meisterwerk höre...
That was beautiful!
This should be the theme song for humanity. If and when we ever meet an alien civilization, this is how we should first communicate. With the arts. With beautiful music like this.
Joy, beautiful spark of Divinity [or: of gods],
Daughter of Elysium,
We enter, drunk with fire,
Heavenly One, thy Holiness!
Thy magic binds again
What custom strictly divided;*
All humans become brothers,*
Where thy gentle wing abides.
True Europe 🇪🇺
That is the European anthem - it touches my heart! THX for sharing. ♥
Your reaction brings me joy! Holy fuck you're living it!
Music is a magical thing!
THIS is how God spoke to composers when music was enlightened.
and this is only possible due that we germans do care so much about music and preserving our herritage.
It still gets me when he's dancing like a little kid out of Joy. ^^
[Schiller und Beethoven hätten sicher ihre Freude dran gehabt. ^^]
pure love❤ its schillers „ode to joy“ -
Beethoven
@@SiRi-kd5ot Beethoven's music, but Schiller's text for the German version.
@@cayreet5992 both would be missing something without the other
Now listen to the whole thing: Beethoven's 9th Symphony, composed after he was completely deaf. This was part of the last (4th) movement. It's on RUclips.
Beethoven's thoughts 200 years ago.
Europahymne:
European anthem (to the joy)
O friends, not those tones!
But let's start more pleasant
And happier!
Joy, beautiful spark of the gods,
Daughter from Elysium,
We enter, drunk with fire,
Heavenly, your sanctuary.
Your spells bind again,
What the fashion strictly shared,
All people become brothers,
Where your gentle wing rests.
Who managed the big hit,
to be friend of a friend,
Whoever has won a devoted wife,
mix in his cheers!
Yes - who only one soul
his name is on the earth's surface!
And who could never, steal
weeping out of this covenant!
Joy is the name of the strong feather
in eternal nature.
Joy, joy pushes the wheels
in the big world clock.
Flowers lure them from the germs,
Suns from the firmament,
Spheres she rolls in the rooms,
that does not know the seer's pipe.
Joy, beautiful spark of the gods,
Daughter from Elysium,
We enter, drunk with fire,
Heavenly, your sanctuary.
Your spells bind again,
What the fashion strictly shared,
All people become brothers,
Where your gentle wing rests.
your beautiful reaction gives most honorable credit to the name of this masterpiece. ode to joy!
Beethoven. Wonderful!
Love your reaction vids man!
Been watching the rugby ones mostly.
Another great springbok player with nice highlights you should check out is "Cobus Reinach", the dude is lightning!
His dad was the South African 400m record holder for a long time and also played rugby for the Springboks.
Alle Menschen werden Brüder........
Fkn Beethoven always head!😆❤🤘❤🤟❤
Beethoven...the OG badass Dope composer...
They play the hymn of europe
Even better when gruber busted open that safe
And this what the stupid pandamic should have done, bring love, hope and people together, to bring Joy to the world, and now everybody hates, why? End the wor, feed the children and please take care
But RUclips music did just that! It was a time of discovery for all of us. Jackson Brown played from his living room nightly!
Putin hasst diesen Trick :D
It's a nice fake impromptu concert - clearly planned way ahead of time. It has absolutely nothing to do with a Flashmob. A Flashmob is defined by random people who don't know each other, meeting at at a random time to do something together and everyone can join in.
The people in the video clearly know each other and have practiced together and I doubt they would appreciate random people to just grab their guitar and join in.
what is wrong with u? u misunderstood the lyrics or?
Bet you're fun at party's.
Are you suggesting random flashmobs don’t walk through town carrying classical musical instruments
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_mob
@@karlosthejackel69 No, it is entirely possible to have a flashmob with classical instruments. I am saying, that this isn't one.
The european anthem , for good reasons.
O friends, no more these sounds!
Let us sing more cheerful songs,
more full of joy!
Joy, bright spark of divinity,
Daughter of Elysium,
Fire-inspired we tread
Thy sanctuary.
Thy magic power re-unites
All that custom has divided,
All men become brothers
Under the sway of thy gentle wings.
Whoever has created
An abiding friendship,
Or has won
A true and loving wife,
All who can call at least one soul theirs,
Join in our song of praise;
But any who cannot must creep tearfully
Away from our circle.
All creatures drink of joy
At nature's breast.
Just and unjust
Alike taste of her gift;
She gave us kisses and the fruit of the vine,
A tried friend to the end.
Even the worm can feel contentment,
And the cherub stands before God!
Gladly, like the heavenly bodies
Which He set on their courses
Through the splendor of the firmament;
Thus, brothers, you should run your race,
As a hero going to conquest.
You millions, I embrace you.
This kiss is for all the world!
Brothers, above the starry canopy
There must dwell a loving Father.
Do you fall in worship, you millions?
World, do you know your creator?
Seek him in the heavens;
Above the stars must He dwell.
Honestly, the lyrics to this are just way too beautiful. I personally prefer the original lyrics, but the English version is also quite beautiful & meaningful.
@@kiine7736 Its a universal song that translates extremly well in to other languages .
@Marcus Franconium yep, even possibly hardest languages have very great and beautiful sounding translations. Seriously one of the best piece of music ever.
Thank you for listening to german music
