This song was about the loss of his mother while he was on tour in Acapulco. He basically improvised that song since it was his last day of tour and sung it with emotion . He was on tour when he got the news while he was in an Acapulco.

This song never fails to get me. He lost his mother while he was in Acapulco, a famous Mexican beach resort. That is why he mentions the resort in the song. He never topped this performance, so we are so blessed that they recorded it for all time and for all to see. It’s RARE to see this much true emotion in a musical performance.

I though you were reading the lyrics 😮,.many of his lyrics are inspires for the love of his Mother, this one was about when she died. He had a difficult life being away from his Mother. Thats why in the lyrics he says he wish he could have done more for her even he did everything he could, he had no regrets but he wish he would have done more.
He was a great composer, over 1200 songs, for other artista and himself, his name was Alberto Aguilera valadez, (juan gabriel his artist name)

This story behind this song is very intense. He's singing about the death of his mother. Juan Gabriel was on his way to Acapulco for a concert when he received the news his mother passed away. His mother was supposed to meet him at Acapulco but she never made it. However, this song is deeper than this. Juan Gabriel's father was put in prison when he was young for starting a fire. His mother has to flee the village because everyone treated them bad for what his father did. His mother worked for a rich family as a house maid. She didn't have anyone to take care of Juan Gabriel and was forced to put him in an orphanage. Many years later after before JG got famous he went through a lot including being falsely imprisoned for rape. This is where he was discovered by the jails warden. He let him go and sent him to I believe Sony Records in Mexico City. That's where his career took off. He later looked for his mother and he forgave her for abandoning him in the orphanage. They started forming a new relationship. She has never seen him perform and that's why it hit him even harder because that waS going to be her first time seeing him perform in Acapulco but she sadly died. He wrote the lyrics in about 45 minutes. He later composed the music but has Spanish Singer Rocio Durcal record it. Most Mexican/Latin/Spanish ppl are familiar with this song with her singing it. It's sung or played at most funerals.you should react to Rocio Durcal's version of it but add subtitles to it.

I love this song. It is traditional for Mexican families to play this when they lose a mother. It is a very sad but gorgeous song of love for the loss of a mother. I dont say this simply because I am mexican, but genuinely the song can reach out to anyone if they see the passion this man sang it with.
