Just picked a giant Guava from my plant. Skin was light green and actually kinda soft. It was about 6 years since it produced any fruit. This past season I added a lot of mushroom compost and pruned it a lot. It must have loved the pruning cause it grew pretty big and produced a good amount of fruit.

Hello, nice video! I have a guava tree that’s in ground for almost 5 years now and have lots of blooms. The problem is that the little fruits would always fall off. I’ve used osmocote 14-14-14 on the tree and water it every other day bc it does get pretty hot here in Corona, CA. What can you suggest so that it doesn’t drop its fruits? I will also try to use the fertilizer you recommend. Thanks.

    My questions are:
What type of soil mix is needed for these tropical fruits?
How often do you feed it?
    How's does pruning work?
    What variety guava is this?
Looking forward to more videos like these.
I am indian, and we love tropical fruits like mangoes, guava Java plum etc. I have yet to grow guava, mango etc. My dad's guava is still aviation 2 ft tall with some flowers. He uses mostly sandy soil mix which doesn't se to produce much fruit but just foliage.

    • @TropicalGardenGuy

Hi Al, Its hard to tell without seeing the tree.
But in my opinion, most of the time this is do to something being wrong below the surface of the soil .
When the roots arent happy then the tree isnt happy.
Could be soil PH or fertilizer issues. Could be some sort of virus.
Sorry I cant be of more help.

Just reply back here. I had used MG bloom booster for 3 - 4 times for about 4 weeks, if that Haiwaiian guava. Now I see a lot of buds now, not all new branches, but 2/3 of those. I would say more than I get last year without using MG. Last year I got 10 bids but all of them don’t open and dried out. So cross my finger and hope all new buds bloom and form fruits. Now I go back to organic fertilizer. Just did MG protocol suggested in the video.
I will try this on another tropical pink guava and a Taiwanese white guava, and see if also make difference.
