    11:20 Look at the man! Sunny winter's day, he's pottering along quiet country roads on a shiny new Triumph T120 Bonneville. Then he announces he's soon off to Morocco, and 'there are two ways of doing this . . .' No, sir, there's at least one other way. Once upon a time I was pottering along even quieter roads on a shiny new Triumph T120 Bonneville (4-speed then) and decided to go to Morocco. But I went via France and Spain, all the way down to Tan Tan Plage. And back. That was 1971. I definitely did not need a heated jacket! Interesting times indeed.

      Common sense prevails Blue. This year will be interesting and the fear in the manufacturers must be a great concern. Must be hard for the manufacturers (cars and bikes) to work with governments on a way forward that is not wholly EV. That will be a challenge I suspect.

    You are absolutely right my friend for the 2025. Motorcycle companies which producing successful low capacity models they will survive. I remembered my salary it was higher at 90’s instead of now and I was able to change my bike with a new one every 1-2 years. The big bikes now with all the electronic bullshits they become affordable and they cause problems, forget the maintenance….from the other side we have to understand that we don’t need that over powered bikes, this is my opinion to down size our ego if we want to stilll ride

      Yo are so right the manufacturer’s putting all these unneeded electronics apart from safety ones is just a money making scheme they have made us think we need them and we don’t need anything faster than say 80/100 mph let’s face it 70 mph is the max limit here in uk so the smaller cheaper bikes are the way to go

    Manufacturing and packing houses are closing or running 40 hours or less in the USA. 100,000 dollar trucks are stacked up like dominoes at car dealerships, not selling. Motorcycle dealerships sell side by sides 4 to 1 vs motorcycles, that's what keeping them in business. 1 big Harley Davidson dealership closed every month last year. I bought a Royal Enfield 650 GT. Enough power for American roads. Great bang for the buck. Tighten your belts people it's going to be a bumpy ride ahead. Ride on...

    Happy new year 2025🎉
    USA economy will grow and prosper in the next couple of years.
    Here in the UK led by labour net zero donkeys the economy is set to dive.
    I've been a biker since mid 1970's, and dont intend giving that up in the near future 🤞
    My present bikes are, a z900rs and gsx1400.
    I'm not so much interested in high tech bikes and the gadgetry that goes with them, and the new high prices for stuff I dont want.
    Lots of riding mates around same age as myself agree that, we've had the best bikin days and wouldn't want to be young and getting into bikes these days for a host of different reasons.
    Safe rides mate...😎

    You are 100% right my friend.. I decided some time ago not to update my bike.. Stick to what I have got.. Mainly due to the economic situation.. Bike dealers closing, cost of living etc.. I am no economist but I would like to know how CPI is used for pay increases, but RPI is used for everything else? I might be wrong, but CPI is always lower than RPI.. Hence pay continue to fall. Looking forward to your future reviews.

    My advice is to ride what you got , as much & when you can whist you still can into the ground , & get yer moneys worth . A bike no matter what it is , it’s only value it’s what I am prepared to pay for it & what use it is to me . I can’t see the sense in people who buy Triumphs , Harley’s , KTM , BWW , & Ducati , & then wonder why their cost of living situation isn’t improving .

    Cash is king but if you can't afford it, save up. It's worth the wait because often you'll go off the item or make progress towards a better model. Saving your money isn't sexy, it reduces marketing influence, stops impulse buying and generally avoids buyer remorse. But if you have more money than sense, crack on.

  • @andylynch739

    Hi thanks for your video. I don't think its just the economy woes that will hit expensive motorcycle sales, I honestly believe that most motorcyclists have had enough (particularly when you take into account the ageing demographic) of paying for ever increasing horsepower and tech that most simply do not need or in some cases want. I have been lucky enough to have been able to buy several new bikes, including the R1250RT and KTM 1290 GT and I can honestly say I am far happier with my 900 speed twin bought second hand than any of them. For touring purposes I am currently looking at a Voge DS525X, I am not bothered about the Chinese stigma issue that some people have and I don't concern myself with the moral aspects of buying Chinese either, given that you cannot avoid Chinese products unless you live off grid in a cabin somewhere. It is not possible for the depreciation on a £6000 bike to be as much has the actual depreciation I experienced on the RT and GT! and if they ride as good as the reviews suggest, it's a no brainer for me.

    • @bankruptpensioner
      @bankruptpensioner  5 дней назад

      hi Andy, This Chinese stigma is just a distraction. I suspect over the next 10 years, if not less, the same story of Jap invasion over British bikes will happen again with the Chinese taking the lead. The Chinese are producing some incredible bikes for the money. And money talks for most of the people 👍

    The bear is coming in at 6800 quid ! Too much for that bike imo and i don't see it being a great hit so far as numbers are concerned, it will be interesting to see what BSA does with the price of the scrambler they are bringing out, maybe they learned from the Goldstar and will bring it in low to hammer competitor sales and make a mark, be nice wouldn't it 🙂

    • @bankruptpensioner
      @bankruptpensioner  Час назад

      Good points here - if I were BSA, 5500 starting price sounds right. It has to be the right number to kick the market in the right way. Now if it were 5500, then RE may well have to react.

    You never gave the mileages on those cars will all be obscene. My prediction is the March of the Chinese brands. Most motorcyclists are hobbyists. I have sold many a bike because staring at 6k in garage is upsetting. So I sold. Now bikes 10k+ . Would still prefer 2nd hand proven brands than new Chinese. Yet anyway. I recently renewed my 22 yr old car and bought a 6 yr old one for £12k bloody eye watering as my old car was scrapped. All leisure is doomed £5 a beer £20 bar snack cars bikes e bikes all mad prices. So many pubs shut. Have you heard scottish labour are debating a max speed limit of 50 mph and worst still fuel rationing. Bad for locals but what about those doing nc500 or campers. Absolute right! I have a BMW K1200LT in mint condition and bought this year a Triumph 400x. I didn’t want to buy a more expensive bike and must also admit that i liked the bike also because it’s a one cylinder bike. In Norway a new BMW R1300 is about 32.000 £. It’s crazy and you can’t do anything maintenance on the bike. No thanks. Mine BMW has never since 2001 been to a dealership. I have done everything by myself 😀. And the Triumph is also easy to work on. I also bought the bike cash because I didn’t want to loan on a more expensive bike. Keep up the good work and ride safe😀

    Harley Davidson just announced $1600-2k us dollar increase on this years bikes & overpriced as is.
    Triumph should bring out a low tech 900-1200 model to reduce cost people still buy them with no rider modes & tft screens etc.
    Always go to bank for loan over Higher Purchase save thousands.
    I just saved for ages to cash up a Triumph Speedtwin 900.I would of prefered a 1200 model but I don't like going into debt or loans so would rather own a 900 outright than borrow 5k nz on a 1200 model which 5k be more by time paid it off.Nothing wrong with 900 though I love it & alot more economical than I thought & previous Trident 660 & Interceptor before.Got plenty of torque & power for real world riding & not as snatchy at low speeds as 1200 but if I could afforded 1200 without a loan would of got one.

    Alright Richard! Totally agree with you, we might as well enjoy it whilst we can if we are fortunate enough to use a bit of cash up. Who knows what lies ahead with the crazy going ons in the country, bleak times ahead for many, a very uncertain future. I’m still toying on a Street Triple 1200 RS pre regs going for a bargain but insurance might increase more and more and I’ll be lumbered with an expensive purchase I’ll either have to take a massive hit on or just ride it into the ground to get my moneys worth lol.
    Tbh, I’d not worry too much on a sub £6000 bike like the 400 scrambler but I yearn for a 1200 RS lol. I have considered the Hornet SP,don’t mind it being the older fireblade guts, will be fast enough but great value.

      Speed Triple 1200rs or Street triple 765 rs? The latter gets fab write ups but the Speed is damned by reliability issues. My local honda dealer advises they'll have a CB1000 Hornet in at the end of the month, standard model in red @£9k its definitely the job according to all the reviews. 👍🏻

    It does amuse me to hear from folk with a garage containing 2, 3 and even 4 sub £6500 bikes that any bike costing over £13,000 and "riddled with tech" is simply unaffordable. Those who want another bike are obviously constrained not only by their personal financial situation but by the ongoing cost of the bike(s) they already have, aren't they? Bikes seem to be emotional purchases in the main which is most evident when folk attempt to offer often comical and unsound financial justifications for their decisions. Just fess up, spend your hard earned however you like, stop pretending that you can't afford anything other ... because ... politics 😅

    I for one am looking forward to picking up another very low mileage Honda CL500 for around 4800EUR/4000GBP when my wife passes her test in the coming months. It's no frills and not to everyone's taste, but a great bullet proof all rounder for the budget conscious. I've put 7000km on mine in the past six months as a new rider, and I'm delighted with it. At 4599EUR new with a five year guarantee here in France, I can see Honda shifting a few GB350S in 2025, many as second bikes I imagine. I wonder what's going to become of the quarter of a million KTMs currently in storage. It's going to be an interesting year indeed.

    I dont think a PCP on a new bike is a bad deal really ! If you factor in the depreciation on a new bike in the first 3 years that you bought cash plus the fact you may not be able to sell it when you want to unless you virtually give it away !
    At least with a PCP you can hand it back or trade it for your next bike.
    Either way owning a bike is going to cost you

    • @GrahamNewman-mq7gr
      @GrahamNewman-mq7gr 6 дней назад +2

      Do not want to be ofensive BUT PCPs are lethel Financial Destructive Tools. Put the "Complete Financial Outlay " in the equation . Deposit / Number of payments/ Final figure ect to own it. You are only renting it if you go this route. Take the cheapest finance ( Not Dealer Supplied) on 36 months. Pay it off Bike is yours to do what you like with.

      @stuartosborn4785 6 дней назад

      @GrahamNewman-mq7gr good point ,well made but if you only intend to keep the bike for 3 years the depreciation versus 'rental' are very similar.
