I like your attention to detail . Just one thing the AC condensers on the outside of the homes need to up off the ground . I have seen brackets that attach to the house or they make pedestals that are used with heat pumps . They get beat up by the string trimmers all the time .
That little extra concrete pad you poured on the lower landing in back would be a great spot for a private hot tub. Add a nice stone veneer to that wall and you would be good to go.

Mike, you always do a great job on your builds however, I am not a fan of the way you did the drainage on this driveway. I’m surprised a recessed drain wasn’t installed across the driveway rather than the dip in the concrete. Also, the steps down and then steps up to the front entry is just weird. Too bad the entry / porch couldn’t have been extended to the driveway and have one set of steps. You have way more knowledge than I have but it just looks half assed. Don’t be insulted, you do a great job.Thanks.

Does it cost more if someone brings their plans to you? Also -- have you ever had someone request a "secret door" be installed to the basement -- like a big mirror that doesn't look like a door, but hinges open? Or a fake book case that hinges open, etc? Can a custom home builder do that on a new home, or would it not pass "inspection" -- and the home owner would have to do it themselves, later?
No, it does not cost more if you bring your own plan.We have not done a secret door yet. Nobody has asked us to make one so I'm not really sure about the code implications. I imagine it would Depend on the situation

The focal point of the home are the garage(s). Each to his own I guess.
I really like your home designs. How long did it take to complete the build?
Well in this day and age of viruses, labor shortages, and supply chain breakdowns, it took about 12 months. Typical times are 7-9 months, 8-10 for basements. it also depends on the level of customization and customer change orders. the best we have done is 5 months and 2 days from ground breaking to move in an a fully custom home but the stars have to align almost perfectly for that to happen.

Thanks for your inquiry. It's a great question. Unfortunately in our contract with our clients we have agreed to keep the financial component confidential.
What is the asking price for this property.
Was custom built for a customer.
Initial visual impression... a large garage with a house attached to it. The parking lot in front overwhelms the house, although it has an attractive doorway, it's welcoming impact is just not there. If this huge parking area is really needed, some varying visual interest in the concrete would have helped, and the same applies to the grey siding, there is just not enough to interest to hold one's attention on this facade. The fact that 2 steps were needed on the front sidewalk at the driveway, adds an unnecessary hazard to the approach to the doorway, and some other solution should have been considered. The small window on the garage front looks insignificant and like an after thought to break up a large space... is not the window as much as it is the effect of both garage gables overwhelming it. The house has the long deep approach to the front door which lacks visual interest, and then one finds barely an entrance inside the door and one is in the kitchen. An open plan with a great room is of course, very popular, but should one necessarily see a clear line of sight to the kitchen sink? Inside... a few more comments. A pocket door would have made more sense leading into the laundry room. And a half-bath/ powder room would have been a nice addition for a home of this size planned for obvious entertaining. Is there really no door between the master bedroom and its bathroom? Textured shower walls may have a WOW factor, but someone has to clean them someday, and it will not be easy. I was disappointed in the look of the retaining walls outside the basement, here would have been an opportunity to use brick or better yet, stone to compliment the natural setting. The lower concrete area under the deck also is a missed opportunity for some really interesting creative concrete treatment; the attempt of adding the curves, makes one question why curves here and no where else? It is curious there is no door leading to the outside from inside the garage, especially since the smaller side of the garage was intended as a work area, or a place for the lawnmower, etc. Does one really want to have to open one of the big garage doors to run inside and out when working outdoors or when parked in the additional side space? I hope the owner chooses a professional to landscape the house to create a welcoming movement to the front door, and minimize its present tunnel effect. Perhaps more taller landscaping on the left could also help balance the "big garage effect" the house now presents. One wonders seeing a street side view, why the designer chose to let the over-sized garage and its huge driveway, virtually dominate the house.

That two step down before going up to get in the front door is an accident just waiting to happen.
And black garage doors just makes it look as if there's two giant black holes in the front of the house.

Thank you for your opinion. Unfortunately, building lots are extremely scarce around Lake Norman so we have to work with what's available.
The white trim in the house and those doors are just ugly to me.. so is the bright colors that realtors use to resell homes
These are custom built homes. Built to customers choices, not designed & built to contractors choices then sold as a lot of builder do.
Customers chooses lots & house plans, finishes & he then builds the house. These are not prebuilt then sold as is.
This house has no curb appeal! So bland and typical from the front.
Typical home building, look at the outside corner miter joints in the wainscot at 4:36 into video. I would be embarrassed if that was the best finish work my carpenters did. And they put it on RUclips for everyone to see. Real finish carpenters dont use caulk to fill in joints because they know how to cut them right for a perfect fit everytime. What bothers me about that is what about the quality of the rest of the work?
Half ass finish. Quit the butts and put it into quality workmanship. You have a long way to go.
I give you a dislike because you cut corners on the retaining wall and the slab angel . The retaining wall should be 5 or 6 foot longer and the angel should be lower to the forest site. You have water coming from outside in the basement under the door.
Hey John, Thank you for watching our video. I have to disagree with you on that one, the water on the floor came from a dehumidifier drain line that got dislodged. We run a dehumidifier during construction in basements to control the humidity. It is a temporary setup and the drain line got accidentally dislodged. We just had to put it back in the drain. Very simple. Me and my entire staff had been at that Jobsite during the entire build and no water came on the basement. Our concrete installers and graders are very skilled. The homeowners have moved in and endured several heavy rains. Still no water in the basement :-).
All the rain water collects right at the front door. Bad design.
kitchen cabinets next to the fire place? ugly flooring and a down drop for a backyard.. not worth the money! Plus all the trees in the 'backyard' means you'll get hardly any natural light in in the rear where the living area's are and there for most used rooms. Sorry mister shitty design. Huge frontyard with 1,5 wind which won't let much light in. Maybe good as a holiday let for the Adam's family
