He is also near and at hand because he is easily accessible by those who love him so don't be anxious and be gentle with everyone.
"The Lord is at hand," is in a different sentence then the one before it therefore it is a different thought and has no apparent connection to Jesus' second coming. It has to do with our access to Jesus at any moment and therefore we don't have to be anxious and we can be gentle with all people because we have access to comfort all the time and God's authority and power to help is always at hand.
I need to have this way of thinking because latelt I've been quite anxious and not very gentle. Pray for me that God will help me in these areas. God bless you my brethren.

I agree! Jesus is Right Here and Right Now! His Spirit is With us..and within us..to Seek at Any Time we Need Him. When you have an anxiety disorder..you learn this! I know!

I got a different explanation a while ago, from a sermon about this passage. This pastor said it's more like 'We should show gentelness or graciousness to everybody 'cause the Lord is watching'. Although this may sound like a threat, it does explain how we won't have to be worried then, because we won't have to look over our shoulder or be afraid that we don't keep the laws from our country and that we don't have to worry about someone finding out something. Because if we already just do what God asks us to do, then there's nothing else we have to worry about.

Jesus is Right Here..Right Now. Jesus told us this when He went away. He said He would leave His Spirit Here for us and it was Better that way. He Said Seek Me and My Righteousness..I will give you what you need. His name is "Emmanuel" meaning "God With us". In Luke He Said "the kingdom of God is Within you.". Jesus already explained this to you.

      Hear Gods Word
Many churches are founded on men quoting bible verses. Jim Jones, David Koresh, Ron L. Hubbard, Mary Eddy Baker, Charles Lewis, Joseph Smith, the flat earthers, the Gracers, the Rapture people, Catholics, Protestants. Etc. etc. So..Do you understand Why I Seek Jesus to Help me With bible verses?

Matthew 24:36 The Day and Hour Unknown
But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
Seems like Jesus was stating a fact and there is no reason for us to try to change his words and say oh he must mean his human form, if Jesus says only the fathers knows than only the father knows. I know we all read the bible and come to different conclusions because we have different options but this verse is pretty straightforward.

What about the Father is greater than i am...
Or I'm going to my God and your God...
I've been meditating on these and more similar for long now... Is Christianity commiting idolatry by stating that Jesus Christ is YHVH himself...?
I have no answer atm, just meditations. I fear to adopt any answer as I have been brought up trinitarian. However, the more i study the Word, the more i seem to drift away from traditional understanding of the tirnity. God help us all...

But isn’t Jesus God himself as the Son. Why wouldn’t Jesus know the time of the end? Could it be that God hasn’t open our eyes yet to know the timing of the end

so different to what we usually hear about "never being anxious", it is in a specific context that leads us to try to change others and control our relationships by arguing and throwing arguments at each other... some people feel so guilty because of other kinds of anxieties thinking this passage speaks to them... someone told me the other day... "this makes me so anxious and it is a sin! The word says it!" and I was like... girl...yes, you need to trust God in this, but this doesn't seem to be the way to read the passage either :)

I appreciate John's attempt at interpreting "The Lord is at hand [eggys]" but I would argue he was using eisegesis by inserting his own ideas and theories in order to harmonize the phrase with his eschatological presuppositions. John strayed from the "scripture interprets scripture" hermeneutic. I believe, based on a large set of scriptures, that the Lord is at hand is referring to the upcoming destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70. Look at Hebrews 8:13, which uses the same Greek word for "near," which states, "In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready [eggys] to vanish away." Hebrews chapter 8 is discussing the New Covenant versus the Old Covenant. The New and Old are co-existing during the 40-year transition period (AD 30-70). Hebrews was likely written in the 60s. Jesus is coming to bring recompense on the disbelieving Jews of apostate Israel for denying and killing Jesus on the cross. I do not believe this is the Second Coming, but a coming in judgment as spoken about in at least parts of Revelation if not most, as well as most if not all of the Olivet Discourse. The Lord was at hand. The apostles were preparing the Church for this destruction, and trying to save as many Jews as possible. Now, in our own day, we are waiting for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, which the Scripture never says is "near" or even "far." Jesus will physically come again, but we do not know whether it is imminent or far away.

If the Bible is self evident, then why do we need pipers interpretation?

Why do we tend to think in terms of the numbers? If this were a numbers game, then why didn’t he return when there were just a few thousand people on the planet instead of nearly 8 billion? Our inability to crunch the numbers is overshadowed only by our inability to comprehend time. A day is as a thousand years? Who cares?
Both are irrelevant as far as our ability to understand or even contemplate the meaning of such things is concerned.
Piper doesn’t know either. His answer is simply to believe the book, say your prayers, and read your Bible. So cliche.....
