I bought the Altra lone peak after watching your review. I normally use minimalist shoes but wanted something more cushioned yet zero drop for my first 50k. Loving them so far

Thanks 🙏🏻 Hope they work well for you on your 50K Anita 🙌🏻 Sounds like a great idea. Not loads of cushioning, but enough to do the trick 👌🏻

Just purchased mine at 20% off for memorial day. Ive been playing with high end trail shoes for a few years, most excited for this pair.

Hi Gary, loved the review, did you wear them for the Lakeland? If so were they ok? I’ve never had Altra before, I ran in inov8’s for the 5 valleys this year and suffered with my feet, so I’m looking into purchasing a wide toe box shoe to see if that helps.
I’m running the baby Arc in January and want to know if they would be ok on that surface? If so, I will get myself a pair now so I can get used to them before January 😊

I used them on L100 and 13 Valleys. No problems apart from sloppy mud 👍🏻

@@teaandtrails brilliant 🤩 thank you! There was just a little bit of mud wasn’t there 🤣

great review, Thanks, another eagerly anticipated shoe from Altra, I have worn Altra since 2016 when I first got a pair of superiors in the gorgeous blue/canary colour way. about 20 pairs later including several superiors, lone peaks, a dabble with timp and more recently mont blanc boa having had 2 pairs of the first white/red and a pair of the amber version I was on the verge of buying the green/blue version for 2024. I love the simplicity and easy of adjustment on the boa's especially after many miles when feet swell, quick push and twist and they are readjusted. but Id seen the mont blanc carbon and knew I needed to give them a go. they dropped on my doorstep a day ago and having tried on carpet in case they didn't suit I'm going to give em a go! toe box seems slightly lower than the boa version but maybe that's the welded overlay on the carbons and it will soften over time. Good to see your pair are holding up well albeit at 90 ish miles, I will try and keep mine in good shape for a trip to Sweden in a few months.
Interested to see a post Lakeland 100 review of the shoe to see how it held up if you do decide its your shoe of choice for that event.

Great review 👍Do you find much difference between the women’s and men’s shoes when running? Loving the original mont.

Thanks for watching. Personally, I don't notice any difference.

Great review gary, shame I can`t get away with a zero drop shoe. Most likely use the Hoka Mafate Speed 4`s or Saucony Exodus Ultra for LL100 myself.

Hi Gary, great review on the Mont Blancs. Have you decided if you’ll wear them for Lakeland yet?

Look awsome but can us back runners , warrant a carbon super shoe !!! Great review Gary ps they are really good looking shoes

I think they do help, but not on anything really technical. I’d always go for comfort first. If they have carbon tech too then bonus.

I've got the boa version and quite liked them. Heel cup is a bit shit though as is toe protection. These new carbons look better, but..... the price! Any idea if they are going to do a non carbon version? Thinking MB version2.

Thanks for watching Mark, Good question. I hope so, but I’ve not heard anything.

Didn't get on with the original Mont Blanc, it was comfortable but too unstable and too easy to roll an ankle on traverses and technical ground. This looks like it could be a lot better with some support around the toe to stop the foot rolling of the side... Will give them a try.

Tasted them on 2 runs, total 50km, 3k vertical, technical, really like them and no blisters or stability issues 👍

    Hello!
In this review, I noticed that the sole is slightly different from the sole in the photos on the official Altra website (next to the Vibram logo). In various places (video clips and photos) I see both types of Altra MB Carbon soles. Do you know what this is due to, why there are two different soles?
    Greetings from Bulgaria

Hey, great question. I don’t know why there are two different soles though. Sorry.

They look cool but I would never spend that price on a shoe. Maybe if you’re a sponsored athlete but for the average marathon or trail racer I just can’t justify anything over 170$.

    • @teaandtrails

Yeah, it’s a lot of money. I suppose it comes down to how much disposable income you have or wait for the sales.

Not training shoes, definitely a race shoe with this price. I think brands need to understand this, we won't buy 2 pairs a year of this kind of shoes.
