This covers the aus post satchel and box and own packaging which are the only options in my post business. Aus post also have other packaging in their "if it packs it posts" range ie tubes, tough bags, padded mailers. I've been using tough bags and selecting the size in my post acct but went to a different post office and she said I need to select my own packaging for anything other than satchels or boxes. Hi Christine, when you charge for shipping on eBay your customer pays that to you (via eBay managed payments) and then you use that to pay the shipping cost. So whether you charge + shipping or calculate that cost into your price and list as "free" shipping ultimately your customer still pays you and then you pay the post cost. Hope this helps!

I was advised by my local Aust post office that if you are sending in a small satchel or bubble mailer that is unbranded (not Aust Post) and the item is less than 500g, then you can still use the small satchel under 5kg label as its the same price as an unbranded item under 500g (no need to put in weigh and measurements). Unbranded packaging is often 1/3 the price of Aust post packaging which saves me heaps as I sell mostly items under 500g.

    • @2AussieThrifters

Yea there is definitely some savings in unbranded satchels, I’ve heard mixed things about unbranded going as small but if your post office is happy to take them then winning

I usually use the small red satchel with tracking but if I send a small pair of earrings that's say, 30 cm in height, I find it ridiculous that postage immediately jumps to $9.55 where as earrings that are 20 cm can be sent by a bubble mailer at just $1.10.

    Hello,
I recently use Ebay to get rid of my duplicate collections. I sell cards and stickers. Because they are thin, small and not too heavy, I think small letter (250g) is perfect for me. When I list on Ebay, I chose Australia Post domestic regular letter untracked postage service. Buyer paid my items, and I bought small standard prepaid letters (DL). I sent pictures of items the buyer bought and photos of envelopes to prove it is ready to send. I sent it through Auspost mailbox and marked as sent. My question is how do I or Ebay knows if buyer receive my items without tracking? I don't really know how I will get delivery section ticked on Ebay once my letters reach to buyer. Should I just change to tracked postage service in future and buy letter with tracking or continue without tracking? This is first time I am using Ebay app as seller, and I have so many questions that I unsure. I don't use my post business either. Could you provide what I need to do?

I think if they gave people, say, 48 hours, then the scan could be done at pick-up from the box, but I also have no clue as to the frequency the boxes are emptied so I guess there would be a number of legitimate factors as to why Australia post chooses to do it in store, which is no problem for me.
