This covers the aus post satchel and box and own packaging which are the only options in my post business. Aus post also have other packaging in their "if it packs it posts" range ie tubes, tough bags, padded mailers. I've been using tough bags and selecting the size in my post acct but went to a different post office and she said I need to select my own packaging for anything other than satchels or boxes. I'm looking everywhere for more info but can't find anything - would love it if you covered the other packaging options and how to correctly do the postage - it's very confusing!
I know this is a bit of an old video but i read on the aus post website that tracked letters that are acceptable have to be flexible and flat so I guess dvds would not be considered eligible even tho I have send a dvd in a tracked letter before and it was delivered. Also they say that if you send rigid items the delivery can be delayed and have missing tracking scans and damage or loss to the item

Hi Christine, when you charge for shipping on eBay your customer pays that to you (via eBay managed payments) and then you use that to pay the shipping cost. So whether you charge + shipping or calculate that cost into your price and list as "free" shipping ultimately your customer still pays you and then you pay the post cost. Hope this helps!
is there any reason you use Ebay satchels instead of the Auspost ones? Do I need to use the Auspost ones if I'm printing the labels from My Post business?
That's correct - you can write or attach their address straight on the package - just make sure that you're within the size and weight limitations for a letter and you use the right amount of stamps. Updated info on stamp rates will be on the booklet/box of stamps and on Aus Post website

Thanks for the video. Got a question about one thing.. When you buy the prepaid packaging (say a small satchel for $9.95), you take it home to ship an item. After filling out the address online.. do they really charge you again just to print the label? I thought buying the satchel was the total cost of shipping but as you finish filling out the address/content details you have to pay another sum? Cheers :)
There are two options here I think you are speaking of prepaid satchels which you pay for the cost of shipping when you buy them (generally a bit more expensive then trig you buy satchels (not prepaid) and then buy and print shipping labels from My post business
Do the dump 5XL is the newest version but apparently it had a chip in it that will only let you use dymo branded labels which are expensive , the 4XL you can still use 3rd party labels
Is it better to do the labels through the auspost site or to use the buy postage label service through eBay's website and get them to pick up the items from your place so you don't have to take anything into the post office?
Honestly depends on your own personal circumstances, we print from My post business as we are on band 5 discounts which works out cheaper than eBay labels.
hey im confused whats the best and cost effective way to send a perfume atomiser the size of a usb. would it be a letter or? I know the small satchel is option is $9.30 but that cost more than more product really stuck. TIA
I was advised by my local Aust post office that if you are sending in a small satchel or bubble mailer that is unbranded (not Aust Post) and the item is less than 500g, then you can still use the small satchel under 5kg label as its the same price as an unbranded item under 500g (no need to put in weigh and measurements). Unbranded packaging is often 1/3 the price of Aust post packaging which saves me heaps as I sell mostly items under 500g.
Yea there is definitely some savings in unbranded satchels, I’ve heard mixed things about unbranded going as small but if your post office is happy to take them then winning
Thanks guys, alot of great info. Quick question, when you import your orders into aust post the first address line has their ebay no and the second has their street address do you leave this? I've been deleting the ebay no and putting their address in the first line. Thank you.
Hi 😊 Probably a silly question but on the eBay side of things, do you offer standard AusPost shipping when printing own labels integrated with my post business or the eBay labels option?
Creating labels seems very time consuming. Can you just take ur packages into AusPost for them to enter the information and send?? Do you still save on mypost business that way or only by entering the info online to create labels??
Yea it definitely takes some time, but it’s by far the quickest way to get it done, the post office don’t have the customers details to be able to do that
Do you guys know of a way to send something over 20 mm that is more cost effective than $9.55? I usually use the small red satchel with tracking but if I send a small pair of earrings that's say, 30 cm in height, I find it ridiculous that postage immediately jumps to $9.55 where as earrings that are 20 cm can be sent by a bubble mailer at just $1.10.
If they are above the 20mm in depth that’s going to be tough. You could sign up to My post business there could be some possible savings as you move up the bands. But there isn’t much else available for something over that thickness
Hi again just another quick question do you have insurance with your parcels. My son's just got into selling golf clubs and he's paying insurance at his own money. I see if you have tracking there's no need for insurance. Wot do U think?
@@theaussienurseflipper.8113 yea fair enough. Might be worth the insurance then. Could do pick up locally but as long as that is the specified delivery / pickup up option
We print out internationals from a standard printer as the size is different, other than that weight and size is pretty much all you need sometimes a tariff number depending where you are sending too
Hi I start my small business I want to ask can I use untracked flyer for my jewelry and straps items ? what I need for untracked parcels anyone know about complete procedure
Hi, anything sent untracked as a letter only requires stamps that you can buy over the counter, whereas parcel post labels from MyPost Business include tracking. Anything they class as a parcel :)
Hello, I recently use Ebay to get rid of my duplicate collections. I sell cards and stickers. Because they are thin, small and not too heavy, I think small letter (250g) is perfect for me. When I list on Ebay, I chose Australia Post domestic regular letter untracked postage service. Buyer paid my items, and I bought small standard prepaid letters (DL). I sent pictures of items the buyer bought and photos of envelopes to prove it is ready to send. I sent it through Auspost mailbox and marked as sent. My question is how do I or Ebay knows if buyer receive my items without tracking? I don't really know how I will get delivery section ticked on Ebay once my letters reach to buyer. Should I just change to tracked postage service in future and buy letter with tracking or continue without tracking? This is first time I am using Ebay app as seller, and I have so many questions that I unsure. I don't use my post business either. Could you provide what I need to do?
Hi, this is not on topic but do you clean your DVD’s before sending? If so have you done a video on this or what do you use to clean them please? Thanks
what do you do with international labels? since they're double the size of a normal domestic label. do you just squish it into the standard auspost label size and have really small text?
s annoying coz in my etsy i putted this International shipping : 12$ but some orders r from france and usa just went in aupost and to send to france costed me 24$😔 and my item just costed me 15$ i didnt know the shipping cost the double 😔 of course i sent but for the item i sold i lose money just in the shipping how can i send something cheaper or maybe free coz for each item to send i cant pay more than 24$ and is just like a letter .
I liked the video but you might want to edit out your buyers personal information a little more, your a small channel now but if you get bigger things like that can really be an issue. After finishing the video I appreciate what you are trying todo but there is a lot of your customers personal information shown, full names, addresses, mobile numbers, linked to descriptions of what they bought and eBay item numbers. You guys are band 5 for Australia Post should think about applying for a credit account makes accounting much easier to just get 1 invoice a month Keep up the informative video's
@@2AussieThrifters Applying the shipping labels at the end it's very easy to see all the details, the shots in your my business account give away mobile numbers and partial addresses which can be matched other information leaked throughout the video.
@2AussieThrifters thank you for your reply. I saved and enjoyed your video. It's interesting that they make sellers go through that after its already been approved to go. For example, if someone was so busy that they couldn't get to a post office. I appreciate your reply. Many thanks 😊
I think if they gave people, say, 48 hours, then the scan could be done at pick-up from the box, but I also have no clue as to the frequency the boxes are emptied so I guess there would be a number of legitimate factors as to why Australia post chooses to do it in store, which is no problem for me. Have a good weekend guys

Definitely leave this in, ebay sent an email out about this last year and it has something to do with how ebay more effectively track packages
I always delete it. My post office lady told me to.
@@meganjordon I’ll see if I can find the email and forward it too you
Hi 😊
Probably a silly question but on the eBay side of things, do you offer standard AusPost shipping when printing own labels integrated with my post business or the eBay labels option?
We offer it as Aus post standard shipping when using my post business.
@@2AussieThrifters thank you 🥰
Also do you issue a receipt with your shipped items or just a thank you note? 🙂
Can you use a normal printer if you use sticker paper?
@@Jada592 yes as long as you buy the right paper
@@2AussieThriftersthank you I’m starting a scrunchie business soon but don’t have the budget just yet to buy new printer
But there isn’t much else available for something over that thickness
great tutorial.... i always just go into auspost and buy a prepacked bag and write the address on it as I get more sales through depop...
Nice yea we have tried Depop a while ago but found the volume of sales alot better on eBay but I think it depends on what you sell.
If im selling fishing line that sells for say $5, and its the size of a cd but 22mm thick, is the cheapest option a satchel ? $9.55?
Unfortunately yes, unless you have a my post business account which may give you some discounts on that price
Hi again just another quick question do you have insurance with your parcels. My son's just got into selling golf clubs and he's paying insurance at his own money. I see if you have tracking there's no need for insurance. Wot do U think?
We generally put insurance on items over a certain value say $500. But not on very sale
@@2AussieThrifters putter my son sell r over 500, I though be cheap for me to drop it off for him.
@@theaussienurseflipper.8113 yea fair enough. Might be worth the insurance then. Could do pick up locally but as long as that is the specified delivery / pickup up option
Is it the same process for printing international labels?
We print out internationals from a standard printer as the size is different, other than that weight and size is pretty much all you need sometimes a tariff number depending where you are sending too
Hi I start my small business I want to ask can I use untracked flyer for my jewelry and straps items ? what I need for untracked parcels anyone know about complete procedure
As long as they are under the 20mm thickness you would just add stamps address and post it off
When you pay for label using your own packaging in the aupost business website, which option has tracking since it doesnt say if it includes it?
Hi, anything sent untracked as a letter only requires stamps that you can buy over the counter, whereas parcel post labels from MyPost Business include tracking. Anything they class as a parcel :)
Hello,
I recently use Ebay to get rid of my duplicate collections. Could you provide what I need to do?
would you have to enter in untracked items in mypost business? or would you do it separately?
Nothing to enter in my post business if untracked. As there is nothing to report
If you don’t have any label paper can you use normal paper ?
Yes, you can print with your regular A4 printer paper and tape it on. We've also used sticker paper in our regular printer 👍
Hi, this is not on topic but do you clean your DVD’s before sending? If so have you done a video on this or what do you use to clean them please? Thanks
We generally only list dvds that are in very good condition or have very lights scratching as we don’t have a disk cleaner yet.
what do you do with international labels? since they're double the size of a normal domestic label. do you just squish it into the standard auspost label size and have really small text?
also what size labels do you use?
Our Dymo compatible labels are 104x159 mm :)
@@2AussieThrifters can you please respond to my first comment about international labels
@@nitro7726 hey I responded on that one too, we use our normal printer for international as the dymo labels are a bit too small
@@2AussieThrifters thanks a lot!!!
s annoying coz in my etsy i putted this
International shipping : 12$
but some orders r from france and usa
just went in aupost and to send to france costed me 24$😔
and my item just costed me 15$
i didnt know the shipping cost the double 😔
of course i sent but for the item i sold i lose money just in the shipping
how can i send something cheaper or maybe free coz for each item to send i cant pay more than 24$ and is just like a letter .
don't delete the automated reference, that is the ebay item number, quick look up guide, just add you're own reference after it.. enough room there
We aren’t deleting the ebay id just the item reference to high doesn’t print on the label anyway. It doesn’t change the integration with ebay at all
now do a video telling australia post how to deliver mail 🇦🇺🐨👍
Haha If it was only that easy lol
I liked the video but you might want to edit out your buyers personal information a little more, your a small channel now but if you get bigger things like that can really be an issue.
After finishing the video I appreciate what you are trying todo but there is a lot of your customers personal information shown, full names, addresses, mobile numbers, linked to descriptions of what they bought and eBay item numbers.
You guys are band 5 for Australia Post should think about applying for a credit account makes accounting much easier to just get 1 invoice a month
Keep up the informative video's
I thought we got most of it, without destroying the video with blur boxed everywhere but understand your point.
Thanks for the feedback
@@2AussieThrifters Applying the shipping labels at the end it's very easy to see all the details, the shots in your my business account give away mobile numbers and partial addresses which can be matched other information leaked throughout the video.
@@Adam-Adamson I can only apologies for not being perfect.
I’ll see what I can do to fix it
@@2AussieThrifters no need to apologise, I enjoy your videos but putting customer information on the internet is a big deal
@@Adam-Adamson what part of the video are you talking about can you timestamp for me so i can try and fix it
What if you don't have a label printer
You can print these to your normal printer and do 4 per page
Instead of going into the post office. Could you just put them in the post box? I'm asking a genuine question for myself. Many thanks
My understanding of this is they don’t get the initial scan required to keep eBay tracking within the 24 hour after label creation metric.
