I've seen all the LTEX units at Larry's yard in Youngstown Ohio, nice to see a video of them out west where they belong. Five inches of snow don't belong on a yellow bonnet
Those are just local work trains being moved to another yard....I work for bnsf, maintenance of way....alliance ne this past year had just over 100 engines coupled together to get hauled somewhere for updating. Maybe getting sent to overhaul and paint?
Proof that EMD used to build good locomotives. Those GP30/35s lasted over 40 years! Their current junk barely lasts 20 years (or less) before being scrapped.
I strongly agree with RailRoamer about the age of the trains and calling it a funeral train. zchcsee1 even admits that they are old locomotives. No power move, just transporting engines.
Yeah but they are not turned on. Plus they are leaving service. A power move is moving locomotive power to shops and yards. Not to scrap and retirement.
I would expect most of those engines to be running or set in neutral as they are pulled. You would have to watch all those exhaust vents to see what engines are running
If I saw that many locomotives coming at me at an intersection, I would just turn the hell around and quit, figuring that the train following would be about 135 miles long ! kevlutu
Well there goes more locomotives of my generation of motive power. Seeing less and less of the second generation diesels. The ending of my era of railfanning.
Look at all those cab doors wide open. Just shows the last person in them cared so little they couldn't even be bothered closing the cab properly when they left.
Just guess but the 30 series units with the LTEX patch might be going to a short line or locomotive leasing company. It is also possible that they are going to get rebuilt into GP39Es for BNSF as well, since some GP30s have been rebuilt to 39Es. Sadly I think the LAJ CF7s are bound for scrap though. DPUs are just on their way to Chicago.
Eagle One Wrong... They were moving these locomotives to a new facility for LTEX witch is not owned by BNSF. Only the loco's that say BNSF on them are owned by BNSF... In other words BNSF was making money for moving these units for LTEX.
Discussion at Trainorders.com www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,4237060 nee-AT&SF GP30's ... BNSF recently "bought back" these locos from Larry's Truck & Electric (LTEX) for their GP39-3 rebuild program (2017).
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 W O W, WHAT A REALLY ORIGINAL VIDEO!!!! WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN WITH THESE LOCOMOTIVES? WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO DISTRIBUTE THEM TO DESTINATIONS ALL ACROSS ARIZONA AND THE AMERICAN SOUTHWEST, TO ATTACH TO REMOTE CONTAINERS NEEDING TO BE TRANSPORTED?❤
I suspect that's probably true but LTE X stands for Larry's Trucking and electric big company I believe it's in ohio it may refurbish them lease them what have you not necessarily the graveyard
Eagle One actually 23 of the locomotives were turned off, they were moving them to another location where they are needed or where they will be retired
+digimaks the old Santa Fe locos are probably most likely yard switchers being moved to another yard. But I am just a truck driver so Idk really. This is just my guess
BNSF, like UP, is hit with a big downturn in traffic. I just watched another video showing drone footage of over 150 BNSF units and hundreds of coal gondolas sitting stored in a yard in Wyoming, and these were big road engines, mostly SD70MAC's.
I love those yellow and blue locomotives!
I think they’re Santa Fe bluebonnets and I like them as well
Those are Santa Fe bluebonnets, and yes they are cool looking, not to mention really rare!
Cool video! Sad to see all those old Santa Fe units rolling away like that, though. GP30s and CF7s are some of my favorite locomotive models.
nice video and awesome catch of all 27 engine's in your video.
I've seen all the LTEX units at Larry's yard in Youngstown Ohio, nice to see a video of them out west where they belong. Five inches of snow don't belong on a yellow bonnet
An end of an era!! I grew up with the Santa Fe's GP30's and GP35's. They lasted for 45+years.
hello fromn washington state I love this video please make more videos like this
A fan of BNSF
Those are just local work trains being moved to another yard....I work for bnsf, maintenance of way....alliance ne this past year had just over 100 engines coupled together to get hauled somewhere for updating. Maybe getting sent to overhaul and paint?
Awesome catch!!!

It's not a power move. It's called a funeral train when old locomotives retire from what the usually do to exit service.
its still called a power move.
I strongly agree with RailRoamer about the age of the trains and calling it a funeral train. zchcsee1 even admits that they are old locomotives. No power move, just transporting engines.
A funeral train is one where the equipment is going to scrap.
I mean the locomotives are still power being moved...
Yeah but they are not turned on. Plus they are leaving service. A power move is moving locomotive power to shops and yards. Not to scrap and retirement.
Amazing train! Thumb up!
That's a lot of locomotives linked together
I wish I could save every Santa Fe and Southern Pacific loco
GRAEME OR GRANDMA win a power ball lottery
Cuando menos que tuviera una a escala santa fe
Great video but why face away from the train?
Only the first two, and second from rear locomotives were working.
I dont get why they needed 2 DPU's..
What is l and j?
On there way to Silvas IL
those are old engine it is pulling
I would expect most of those engines to be running or set in neutral as they are pulled. You would have to watch all those exhaust vents to see what engines are running
Wat is L A J
Not a power move. Those trains were retiring so it was a funeral train. You might want to fix the title.Nice catch though.
Given most go to rebuild and to be re-leased.....the term funeral is problematic. Big need in North America for used locomotives like these.
Hospital train then?
WOW! did not know blue bonnets still existed. can u sub me and why were most of the units coverd in spray paint
Bye bye Santa Fe units :(
If I saw that many locomotives coming at me at an intersection, I would just turn the hell around and quit, figuring that the train following would be about 135 miles long ! kevlutu
In response to an earlier question--not counting the ES44's and Dash 9's, that's 52,000 horses if you take their original rated power. Nice catch!
Well there goes more locomotives of my generation of motive power. Seeing less and less of the second generation diesels. The ending of my era of railfanning.
I declare that BNSF shall make War Bonnet and/or Blue Bonnet herritage units!
Look at all those cab doors wide open. Just shows the last person in them cared so little they couldn't even be bothered closing the cab properly when they left.
Love the echo of the horn off the hills round 1:40
Some of the gp30s are up on Reading and Northern in Port Clinton,PA
That to be honest is one of the most killer things i've ever seen... I love all the warbonnet geeps and CF7's (Those are to of my favorite classes!)
I caught all of these engines separated at LTEX in lordstown. You can see them on the facebook page Worldwide Railfan Project
Funeral train? Nice catch!!!
☝☝😁😁

LTEX = Larry's Truck and Electric in Ohio. They're mostly scrappers / parts salvage. This train is a funeral procession for all those GPs.
ALL THOSE LOCO NOS. LOOKS LIKE ROCKET SCIENCE
@@CR3271 They actually all got converted into GP39Es and sold back to BNSF where they perform service today.
The iron millipede rumbles across the landscape.
What would be the combined horse power if they were all lit up?
Great catch, well done.
Yea get one to put in the back yard for backup power !
Power the hole house .
And Sell "Juice" to Your Neighbors
Too,,
Funeral Train, Not A Power Move
Those LAG CF7s! They're beautiful as flowers!!
No doubt, some will end up in Mexico... They've traditionally taken lots of our older stuff
Larry’s Truck and Electric x. They were all scrapped.
The rear headlight is lit on a DPU it's considered rear protection. Either a DPU headlight, EOT, caboose, or flag is requied.
It's all off to locomotive hell (the scrapper).

What's so cool about this Bill? No box cars-no money.

It's a funeral train not a power move
It is power moves guys because that train to fast and?? Strong? Think????
Sad to see BNSF selling off all those GP's.. Most still look pretty good yet..
I just wish that before the BNSF Merger that Santa Fe would have made an SD60 in Warbonnet colors (Red & Silver) in standard cabs and modified cabs.
Rip they probably going to the graveyard
Dragging them to their death. :-(

A real shame all of those units are gone now...especially the three LAJ CF7's. Oh well, thats progress for you.
five GE 6-axle heavy locomotives shepherding a flock of EMD 4-axle midsize locomotives -- kinda cute - off to other yards
Very nice footage, I just subscribed 😎👍
I didn't think blue fakebonnets existed! 0:30
I was view 306,391!!!!!!
Winner winner, chicken dinner!
Great video. I think they need to have the death penalty for graffiti painters! Most locos I have seen was 9 in a consist.
Artists Making Foamers Mad
love it!
Santa Fe is now part of BNSF, ie. Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway company, through many mergers over the past two decades.

Just wondering what the wealth, or dollar cost for these would be? Thanks from.St. Paul Minnesota.
Willing to bet those cf7s STILL run......they went beyond the 50 year rule
Nice i hope to see some run on CMQ someday
Shortlines were foolish not to buy these for cheap scrap value.
I'm assuming most of those locomotives are shut off right?
Yes.
You got a Fantastic Catch! It’s quite sad seeing bluebonnets all being scrapped for more modern engines or paints, At least you got this!
Nice catch. Nice to all the oild EMD locos in Santa Fe colors. I've only sen this one before . The Big Move: 16 Locomotives!!!
I wonder what they are going to do with all those locomotives. Probably scrap them
I suspect that's probably true but LTE X stands for Larry's Trucking and electric big company I believe it's in ohio it may refurbish them lease them what have you not necessarily the graveyard
The older locomotives in this video are not powered, only the two lead and the rear, the air is set up like a regular consist.
wtf how f****** powerfull is this bnsf train
Nobody knows. They were just trying to see how many loco's they could run at one time without screwing up.
Eagle One actually 23 of the locomotives were turned off, they were moving them to another location where they are needed or where they will be retired
NO WONDER RAIL SERVICE IS BAD. YOU CAN RUN A LOCO ALONE BUT NOT A TRAIN
ToxicCrafterz Its a funeral train, not a powermove. They are retiring.
The 2 lead and rear units are 4400 hp a piece. The smaller ones are referred to as jeeps and are around 2000 hp.
If only the short lines are interested in them since they like old ancient units that are 40-50 years old.
they got scrapped
It was pulling nothing were they just relocating them?
Wat weegt een locomotief? Mooie opnames.
Great shots! I LOVE that K5HLL in the last shot!
27 Locomotoras, Excelente Video.
Seems like some people don't know what a power move is, anyway, great video and more than one location.Thanx !
Funeral train
All LTEX going to get refurbished and leased or sold
After the constant engine noise , I thought that all the locomotives where working , but maybe it was just a false impression?
It's not a power move it's a funeral train
I can't believe all these old guys are still around to be scrapped! nice to see the c47s going somewhere useful though.
"FRED" stands for Flashing Rear End Device, and it is not required when there is a locomotive on the rear of the train with a light illuminated.
Think they are being take for overhaul? Or simply switching service location?
+digimaks the old Santa Fe locos are probably most likely yard switchers being moved to another yard. But I am just a truck driver so Idk really. This is just my guess
All locomotives but no railcars.
bnsf 7447 had the upgraded k5hll horn
Was is the gas price on a move like this looking like tho??
Whats LAJ
are these Loco's going to be Broken up or will they be refurbished and put back into service
I'm hoping that they be rebuilt and refurbished and put back in service.
Great setting, nice job!
Notice the LTEX on the jeeps?
LAJ
That's A lot of retired locomotives!
Any reason those old diesels are being moved? To be scrapped? Restored and possibly repainted?
At best, re-built and sold off. At worst, scrapped. Those GP30u's and 35u's are half a century old and already re-built before.
What a shame. Surely there's a little more juice in them. They could save a few million-or-so dollars by putting these boys back in service.
BNSF, like UP, is hit with a big downturn in traffic. I just watched another video showing drone footage of over 150 BNSF units and hundreds of coal gondolas sitting stored in a yard in Wyoming, and these were big road engines, mostly SD70MAC's.
