indie devs develop for a passion while triple A or big studio develop for a paycheck or an agenda.
Mostly agenda these days. Which is truly surprising, tbh. Just goes to show how much they believe in their gospel, though. They are true believers. People of faith.
These aren’t indie devs or AAA devs lmao these are just players of the game
Well I mean the small devs at a studio had/have a passion they are just normal people, but definitely corporate structure is soul sucking...

this is what love and passion looks like in game dev / mods, imagine if triple A game companies also had that, just impossible nowadays
Usually because of the gratuitous amount of corporate bureaucracy and toxic work environments born out of stress and pressure. I hope indie games continue to skyrocket in quality and eventually topple the monopoly that goes on, but its unlikely. Corporations continue to pump and dump aspiring game devs every year.
Corporate culture. I'm a software dev, and if I want to make a single change to fix a typo in a single field of a form, I have to go through a full change request / approval process that takes 2-3 hours of my time for something that takes me 10 seconds to do.

I agree that many times AAA games lack passion, but you many AAA games open world RPGs are still the best. Like... this mod might be fun but not even close to as good as the best RPGs out there.
Content amount is pretty good but keep in mind that they still needed the foundation of valheim to do this. The difference is making something from scratch vs using tools already put in place.
It is alot of work but the valheim devs have to create the fundamental tech while these guys are using said tech. This goes for any type of mod.
Praising only the mod makers is like praising only the car maker and not the guy who invented the wheel in the first place.
Valheim is a chefs kiss game, This is just a bonkers addition, i cant believe how committed the fan base is. Love everything about this.
I worked as a chef for years and years, and I can say whole heartedly that in all that time I never once saw a valheim world this good.
What impressed me is th eaork that went into capturing the videos of how the game itself was modified. How fo you capture the changes made to the map and game objects. Insane
Runescape does that thing with the "degenerated structures" with each block/board being slightly offset, its such a great style for weathering.

When games are no longer made for gamers, gamers must make games for themselves.
5:30 I still feel like these companies shouldnt hire them, because they would be limited by the shareholders and CEO's of those companies in their creative vision.
But I do understand the general take away.
With the tools that are out there now, they should just make their own game. We see that they have the skill. The time is the only real factor, since who knows what jobs they have

@@techead23Even if they could work all day on their own game, it would take them way longer than just a year to make something like this happen. They did an amazing job on this,, but this was only possible because they had the base game already provided to them. Also there is a big difference between using an existing code and actually coding a game.
@@pApA0LeGBa It could go either way. There are plenty of people that use base games to make amazing mods, but they feel limited by the game itself.
It would take too long, it's not viable, take into consideration that these guys probably have their jobs and possibly families so they would have to make money short-term to keep going and then they would need a bigger team to work on it and then there is management etc. conclusion is too much work is needed but they are still making their own game in Valheim in a way.

These guys should sub-contract their work out to the game devs so they wouldn't have to worry about "getting fired". Work like this certainly deserves to be rewarded and I would absolutely purchase this as DLC if were offered as such.
Valhiem should add this as a dlc an pay these guys for their hard work
Valhiem devs can't even do their job, I don't think they like that others do their job better

@@WhozZzWho IronGate is regularly criticized for taking way too long to deliver content updates. They are slow, even for a small indie team. Valheim raised the bar on the survival genre, but by the time the game releases, it will look dated. It already feels outdated.
@@WhozZzWhoIt takes them 2 years to put out updates that most other indie devs would have put out in 2 months.

Remind some old Warcraft 3 custom maps. The creator put tone of content that you can play for few hours in 5mb. Blew my mind back in the days.

This game is such a vibe, would love to see more stories and installments overtime...hoping these modders get rewarded well as the game creators themselves.
the idea of taking games mechanics/engines that currently already exist and turning them into something completely different has been in my mind for a while. imagine tarkov mechanics as a survival base building game? or a zombie apocalypse mode
how do you get access to this? :D it's so cool!

There are a few Mods for the game that allow you to save builds, I had so much more to say, but I don't know what to feel anymore.
hire them and offer to put this up as an official dlc on steam with royalties if they choose to monetize it
Careful what you wish for. Talent like this often gets underutilized in a company setting, where their ideas and creative freedom are constrained to singular tasks and what the ceo feels is best.

Love private server stuff! Really like what they did for Ascension for WoW. This is next level to that. Haven't played valheim will likely play this at some point
and thats what we call passion and dedication
this reminds me of some mods for DayZ that use the vanilla items, but the mod allows it to be used in a different way. and there for adding functions and items to the world, like shelf´s, shares, storage. tho in DayZ the Client needed the mod also not only server side. but in this case with Valheim it looks like the client dont need the mod, and that is super cool. that all of this is only server side.
Did valheim get some pretty crazy optimization while I was gone or are there mods at work? My game started to run choppy after even a barely large build.
I'm not even playing Valheim but I'm still in awe.
Remember how Dota was a mod for WarCraft and become one of most popular game. I can see something like that happens with this. Maybe one day we'll get a standalone MMO based of this.

I’m not into solo linear games I very much enjoy open world and creating on my own but just to be able to implement something like this shows how far they could go with new updates if they cared about the people who actually play the game.. eventually games will be made by the people who actually have passion not just pumping something out and saying that’s it
I play on Comfy Valheim and honestly its great. the people are awesome and the discord and server are well maintained. and its always active

this is what the devs says that "COPY PASTE IS GOOD" as long as you make some revisions on it. they copy paste the base model and change it to something new.
I hope this somehow up for download so I can play the world with my friends. Too many people on valheim creates lag
I’ve check out the MMO server yesterday, it’s pretty cool but people who don’t understand mods will definitely not feel like they’re playing Valheim. I definitely recommend either donating 10$ to ninebyte to get the map early to play with friends or waiting another month

did they develop the combat further? it was pretty lackluster other than archery last time i played.
The best part about mods is they are by people that actually play and enjoy the game. They are doing an amazing job with this! People like these are the reason why games like Skyrim are still being played to this day.
