Yes Milou, it is a mocking bird. I have seen them chase and dive bomb hawks, crows and animals that may be anywhere near their nests. Their nests can be pretty far away. Mocking birds can remember the songs of 25- 30 different songs of birds they hear.

Birds are so very territorial that way, hubby can't mow the lawn around certain birds , almost knock his hat off!

No, that's not a blue jay, though I've seen them chase cats. Looks like a shrike. Very aggressive when protecting their nests.
That looks like a sparrow. Same as the one that chased a squirl at my place. Sparrows are known for their aggressiveness if you get close to their nest. Tiny but mighty. 🤣🤣🤣
Interesting. I have tons of sparrows in my yard and have never been chased. Looks more like a shrike to me, judging from the body.

Definitely a Mockingbird. I can tell by the white marks on its wings, and the way it is acting. They are notoriously grumpy.

Birds r the only ones allowed to scare cats😊. Nice dive bomb, I couldn’t catch whether the cat actually got pecked, but that cat sure was making tracks and beating feet lmao. Too close to a nest I suppose.

Peacocks too can be very nasty if their territory is invaded, and they will chase away cats, I’ve seen it happen.

It looks like a shrike to me, the little I could see. I have seen them dive bomb other birds, such as birds of prey, to defend their nests. That's not a Blue Jay sound and did not look like one, either, but I have seen Blue Jays dive bomb cats and birds of prey. Whatever the bird, there's a nest nearby they are defending.
