Since you have the instructions for Spirit of America, you should order the individual parts and build it up. Would be cool to bring that back to life.

Gotta love finding the old stuff. I recently bought a box online that had 10 complete kits in it. Including some old school stuff. Keep the videos coming. Love your content.

Ahhhh yes newbies we all under estimated the size of out fields. And the trees would swallow them up.

Estes Challenger I first appeared 1977 and Challenger II in 1980. Glad I kept most of my Estes catalogs from throughout the 80's. Best styles of rockets ever imo.

Nice find. I just got a super deal on an old SR71 (been looking for one for a while). Main tube was a little squashed, but I live close enough to eRockets to grab a replacement tube in no time (I just like to have a nice list before making the drive so that I can buy a bunch of stuff at one time). Those are begging to be flown again!

I was a kid of the 80s and model rockets were a big passion of mine, and just recently got back into it with my own children and have noticed that about the igniters and how they don’t have as much material as I remember them having.
Glad to know that I’m not crazy😅

Great video Keith! I love you showing off the vintage stuff. It’s like Antiques Roadshow-Rocket Edition!
And if you ever invite Don over to your place, you better hide that box or it may end up “missing”! LOL. Just kidding l, as he’s a fan of the vintage stuff too. I’m sure he’ll love this video as well!

Thanks Kevin. I know Don like this one. He has a really nice one. He likes packaging also. I'm hiding it!

Funny what a difference there is from opening a transparent bag compared to opening a box filled with untold goodies! I loved the old Designer's Special for that reason alone, what a great idea from Estes. They need to remake that but with Pro-Series supplies oh yes!

I'd be curious if those "lantern" batteries are still available. It's been a very long time since I have seen one of those lights that use the lantern battery. We used to use those batteries back before controllers had AAs in them.

Centuri always had them pamphlets in their kits- and I joined Navy in 79, drove to Phoenix in 87, and no where to be found- so fake it they were bought out early 80s
Def knew it was a Centuri nose cone. SEMROC may have a replacement tube.
The 6 volt battery setup was pretty neat. i never used the “launch set 16:05 had for it, but had a few lantern batteries before direct connect to car battery.
EXCELLENT FIND- I just scored a “Scorpion Starter kit (Range Box) that was never used. 10.99 plus free s/H on eBay. Just launched my first kit in 40 plus years with it.
Thanks for sharing your vids as sways.

Thanks. Yes that catalog merch is exactly like Estes stuff. Probably the final days before the take over.
